Lunar Eclipse
|
This is a
Full Moon that is so precisely aligned that the
Moon
passes through the Earth's shadow cast by the
Sun's
light. This typically happens twice a year, about 5-6 months
apart. Seen at night time from the Earth, the
Moon
grows dark as it passes through Earth's shadow,
and then slowly returns to its normal white colour. It's okay
to look at a lunar eclipse (but never
look at a
solar eclipse). A lunar eclipse
typically happens twice a year, about 5-6 months apart.
Astrologically,
Lunar
eclipses are very powerful energy, similar to a
Full Moon
but more intense. A lunar eclipse will often bring long-term
processes of growth to fruition, which may or may not be an easy
experience. See also: Solar Eclipse; there is also more
information about eclipses
here.

Lunar Nodes
|
There are two
lunar nodes – the North
Node and South Node. These mark the
intersection between the Moon’s path around the
Earth
and the Sun’s path through the
zodiac (from Earth’s
viewpoint). When a New Moon or
Full Moon takes
place close to the Nodes, this is known as a
Solar Eclipse and Lunar
Eclipse, respectively. Although the Nodes are not physical
objects, they are
sensitive points in the chart. The
North Node symbolises your
"forward motion" point in life, what your overall life lesson is,
and some believe it shows your destiny. The South Node shows your
"pushing off point" in life, where you’ve been and what you need
to let go of.
