Sabian Symbol for the New Moon in Scorpio
Scorpio 29
An Indian woman pleading to the Chief for the lives of her children.
This symbol is about an act of "intercession" and
"Love as a principle of redemption." (Dane Rudhyar ) The image shows a woman who is part of a culture that is
intimately connected to the Earth. She is grounded and deals with the
reality of the situation but for a higher purpose: the salvation of her
children. As Rudhyar says, "She seeks to counteract the karma of their
misdeeds through her love and imploration." This New Moon is about letting go of our past guilt, shame and toxic self-image, and in so
doing we can be reborn in love, forgiveness and fresh potential.
This symbol might also play out in your life in more
literal ways. Lynda Hill points out
that we may "need to stand up for those in your care, whether it be for your
children, your ideals or creative pursuits, even if they deserve rejection,
punishment or judgment." On the other hand, someone might come to you, appealing for your
compassion about someone or something under their care. Hill also reminds us
that defensively pleading for forgiveness is not the same as nor likely to
be as beneficial as asking for leniency from a place of humility, dignity
and self-honesty.
The mother in
this symbol is also the archetypal energy of the Great Mother, who
continually brings us back to the fold when we have wandered away. We are
brought to a spiritual connection with something greater than ourselves in this
case, the Universal Mother or Goddess energy.
Whatever you do to celebrate, embrace or experience
this New Moon cycle's energy, remember that it leads to a greater purpose
and renewed possibilities. And don't forget that in order to be truly free,
you must also forgive yourself and grant yourself permission to grow beyond
your "shadow" and into the revitalizing light.

December 2006
Get ready for one spellbinding lunar
cycle! This New Moon is in Scorpio, and we still have the
Stellium in Scorpio: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter.
Having so much planetary weight in Scorpio promises an encounter
with our passion, feelings, creativity and our deep human
nature. In our psychological depths we come face to face with
our "shadow" those feelings, urges, compulsions, drives,
thoughts, desires and impulses that we hide from ourselves (and,
we hope, from everyone else too!)
These are the parts of us that we tend
to be afraid of, ashamed of, or confused by. They are the traits
we don't yet know how to deal with; or we choose to suppress
them, believing that they represent an "evil" or sinister part
of human nature that must be eradicated. So, we sweep them under
the rug and hope no one notices the growing lump. The problem is
that these dust bunnies have a way of crawling out again and
causing trouble!
So... How do you deal with your
"killer dust bunnies?" ;-) Do you round them up and keep herding
them back into the basement? Or do you ply them with carrots and
discover their soft side? We each have our own way of dealing
with that "shadow" area, which is populated by feelings, beliefs
and impulses that are different for each of us. One person's
"shadow" is another person's treasure map.
Since late October, when 5 planets
slithered into Scorpio, we have all been working with the
"shadow" in ourselvesand other people's, too. The more you have
been able to dig into those shadowy areas of your psyche (or
someone else's), the more you have acquired a powerful potential
to see what's really going on in your depths. If you listen
closely, you may discover that what seem like the terrifying
shrieks of a monster actually turn out to be the frightened
cries of the Inner Child. What feels like a pit of rage, terror
and despair are more likely to be parts of you that just want to
be heard, understood, accepted and even loved. This is the kind
of deep healing and transformation of our human nature that we
encounter in Scorpio.
In this New Moon cycle, we get to
transform those dark corners into enlightenment! With the Sun
and Moon closely conjunct Jupiter, we have the opportunity
to expand into those deep crevices and shine the torch of Truth
into them. Jupiter is the planet of truth, justice,
understanding and inspiration. In the coming weeks, we have a
chance to reframe the so-called "negative" things we have seen
in ourselves and others, and begin to see them in a different
light. By reframing our perceptions and experiences in a broader
context, we give those stunted, distorted and malformed parts of
us a chance to grow, unwind and fulfil their best potential.
To clear plenty of room for this
unfolding potential, it is important that we let go of things
that are not essential to who we are. Scorpio is the sign of
letting go especially because it is also the sign where we
hold on so tightly. We hang onto grudges, fears, obsessions and
resentments. When the body holds onto its digesting food too
long, the body begins to go toxic and the digestive system
becomes constipated. In the same way, Scorpio brings us to
awareness of what we've been holding onto for too long and
therefore need to let go.
We also need to be careful that
Jupiter doesn't just wind up amplifying all the "stuff" that
gets stirred up. If you get stuck hanging onto old "stuff,"
there's a chance it could build up and become overwhelming.
Justification and rationalization could just keep you more
stuck. If you feel like you're spinning your wheels in the muck,
try taking some time out and getting some distance from the
situation before you approach it again with the big picture in
mind.
As if all this isn't exciting enough,
Uranus is stationing Direct on the same day! A Uranus
station normally brings tension, excitement, chaos, surprises
and breaking free of restrictions. This energy is imprinted on
the New Moon and its unfolding cycle over the coming 4 weeks.
That torch of Truth that Jupiter provides could well be lit by a
lightning strike from Uranus! And when we let go of that old
Scorpio "stuff," it might feel like it's exploding right out of
our hands, with Uranus' help! Uranus is also stationing in close
trine aspect to Mercury, who is just stationed Direct himself
after his recent retrograde cycle. So the Mercury station energy
is also lingering at the New Moon.
What does it all mean? Watch
for flashes of insight that yank your brain around. Be alert for
unexpected opportunities disguised as disruptions or problems.
The veil of denial might lift, giving you a clearer view of
something you've been trying to ignore or pretend isn't there.
Unsaid words and secret feelings could emerge suddenly or
inconveniently or you might find it's the perfect time to talk
about things you've been putting off. Just remember that a
little goes a long way. It may help to temper your words with
compassion, empathy and optimism.
Nov.21 Venus sextile Chiron (5:19 of
Sagittarius/Aquarius)
Although this transit lasts for only a
few days, it is possible to make some progress in your healing
and rebalancing efforts, although it will take some effort to
make it happen. This may show itself in relationships, social
interaction, finances, values, health or your spiritual
connection to the Universe. You have an increased ability to
negotiate with others and with your circumstances to achieve a
fair compromise that results in equal sacrifice and benefit for
all concerned. However, there is a risk of wanting to avoid
conflict and discord so much that you negotiate beyond what you
are truly comfortable with -- peace at any price. By accepting
and embracing the effort or struggle that is required, you can
get out of your own way and achieve a more healing balance in
those struggles. You now have increased ability to facilitate
changes in situations that are within your control. It can also
be easier to accept and adapt to that which lies beyond your
control. Your effect on others can be potentially healing right
now, especially by helping them find a new balance and point of
acceptance in the conflicts and struggles of their lives.

Nov.21 Sun conjunct Jupiter (29:30 of
Scorpio)
Confidence, optimism, leadership,
vision and well being characterise this transit. Your
self-esteem and self-awareness can be wide open now. Your sense
of being part of something greater than yourself may be vivid
and bright. And you may have increased ability to identify and
act on opportunities around you, which can bring you "lucky"
prospects. On the other hand, if you have difficulty embracing a
positive sense of self, or if you shy away from believing you
are a treasured Child of the Universe, then this transit might
stir up those difficult feelings to the surface. You could wind
up trying to compensate with over-confidence, arrogance, blind
faith, or gambling on what are realistically poor prospects. The
trick is to tap into the spirit of who you are. Let go of blame
and instead apply some honest yet compassionate assessment. Let
your spirit shine brightly out to the world, but not so brightly
that you blind yourself or others by your own light. Consult a
trusted friend for feedback or advice if in doubt. This is a
great time to expand your horizons, whether that is through
travel, by learning something new, by sharing your knowledge
with others, or by exploring the Meaning of Life.
Nov.22 Sun enters Sagittarius (until
Dec.21)
Happy Solar Return to all
Sagittarians! While the Sun is in Sagittarius, we all get to
explore our horizons, seek our highest truth, discover our
spirituality and gain fresh wisdom. Sagittarius energy
encourages us to reach beyond our grasp, to exceed our
limitations, and to rise above our primal impulses. Whether we
are encountering other cultures, countries and languages, or
expanding our horizons through new knowledge or spiritual
awareness, this is a time to be uplifted and inspired. We are
challenged to explore meaning in our lives and to connect with
whatever we regard as sacred and sublime. In Sagittarius we also
gather new knowledge and understanding, making sense of the
patterns and themes within the raw information around us. It is
not enough to simply have facts and data. Sagittarius presents
us with the opportunity to reach for the highest truth we know,
and then to exercise that truth in moral and ethical ways. The
trap we must be careful to avoid is that it's easy to assume
that our truth is truth for everyone else too, which is not
necessarily the case. Our well-meaning wish for others to
experience the inspiration and passion that we feel can seem to
turn us into self-righteousness know-it-alls. It's tempting to
believe that we are privy to knowledge that others are denied.
There can be a fine line between sharing passionate knowledge
versus shoving opinions down someone's throat. Everyone has
their unique perspective on life, and therefore their own sense
of meaning and truth that works for them. And yet, debating and
challenging each other's knowledge, beliefs and values are also
an important part of the Sagittarius passion for exploration. As
the Sun journeys through Sagittarius, expand your awareness of
how these issues play out in your life.
Nov.22 Mercury trine Uranus (10:49 of
Scorpio/Pisces)
Unusual ideas, flashes of insight, and
seeing unexpected possibilities, are all part of this transit.
You may find it easier to be open-minded right now, especially
about insights that have eluded you. Your ability to see beyond
your usual horizon of perception can bring visionary brainwaves,
as well as a fun sense of humour. You might be inspired to
experiment with something new or do something out of character.
You might have an impulse to break free of old habits or
constraints. This can be a very liberating transit that opens
your mind to new possibilities and ideas. However, be careful
that you don't become so liberated and spontaneous that you
become erratic, hyper or reckless. Words may come tumbling out
of your mouth before you've had a chance to consider their
wisdom, or you might find yourself talking non-stop and
interrupting, creating a bit of awkwardness in those around you.
On the other hand, you might also find the clarity and vision
that gives you the words to speak your truth with new
conviction. It's a great time to do some writing or other form
of self-expression, especially if it's spontaneous or involving
technology.
This is the last of 3 passes of this
transit:
Oct.10,
Nov.13
and Nov.22. This is a time when you can use new and
unconventional ideas to expand your mental perspective. Liberate
your frame of mind by "thinking outside the box."
Nov.24 Jupiter enters Sagittarius
(until Dec.2007)
Jupiter adores being in Sagittarius!
That's because Jupiter is the planetary ruler of that sign, and
so Jupiter is especially strong here. Expect to feel an
especially strong desire to expand your horizons on all levels!
This is a great time to take a new course or learn something
new. Or, you might want to reach out to connect with other
cultures and countries, perhaps through travel or even just by
learning a new language. You may feel inspired and want to
explore a new experience of spirituality. For instance, you
might become involved in a religious tradition. Or, perhaps you
want to read about concepts and ideas that help you find a more
profound sense of meaning and higher purpose to your life.
This is a time when you may seek
Universal Truth, but there's a trap here that's good to avoid.
Everyone has their own connection to and experience of that
Truth. It's a bit like the people trying to describe an elephant
based only on what they see in front of them, rather than that
whole thing. In Sagittarius it's easy to believe that the Truth
we have found for ourselves must also be the Truth for everyone
else, yet those other people may disagree because they have
found a Truth that makes more sense to them.
As the saying goes: If you think
you've found the answer, are you sure you're asking the right
question? Sagittarius is as much about asking the right
questions, as finding the right answers. Jupiter in Sagittarius
is best used to explore intriguing questions and possible
solutions, than to carve final answers in stone just yet.

Nov.24-Jan.15.2007 Stellium in Sagittarius
(Pluto, Jupiter, Sun, Venus, and later Mars, Mercury and Moon)
("What's a Stellium?")
We have been experiencing a Stellium
(3 or more planets in the same sign) in Scorpio since late
October. Now all those planets begin to move into Sagittarius.
As of Nov.24, we have 4 planets in Sag, and by Dec.08, Mars and
Mercury join the congregation, making it 6 planets! It's a good
thing Sagittarius is about expansion because we're going to need
it to fit all those planets in there!! ;-)
The shift of energy from Scorpio to
Sagittarius takes us from confronting our "shadow" to embracing
our "light." We emerge from our shadowy Scorpionic depths with a
new awareness of secret impulses and hidden feelings. That
awareness precipitates a rebirth enabling us to work with that
"shadow" in new ways.
In Sagittarius this translates into
new potential and hope that we can approach old toxic issues in
fresh ways that produce better results. We start to see things
from a new perspective. If we can look without judgment or
blame, taking in the bigger picture, we have access to a broader
understanding of those toxic issues. This can breathe life into
this rebirth, illuminating new possibilities, opportunities and
potential.
While there is this strong emphasis in
Sagittarius, take advantage of it by practicing the art of
seeing the Big Picture. Try looking at situations in your life
in a larger context and see how different they look. Do problems
look smaller and more manageable? ("Don't sweat the small
stuff.") Are the issues clearer because you can see implications
beyond the immediate situation? Or do some problems seem worse
because from a large perspective they feel overwhelming? Take
note of what you learn about your situations, yourself, and what
works for you and what doesn't.
Nov.25 Venus square Uranus (10:49 of
Sagittarius/Pisces)
Under this transit, you may be tempted
by impulse spending, or you might be somewhat erratic in your
use of resources. This can result in unpredictable or unstable
finances, so double check your bank accounts and credit cards
before you draw on them. It is also a time when the way you
relate to others (or they to you) could be somewhat
inconsistent, fickle or impulsive. If your relationships or
financial situation have been struggling with difficulties for a
while, this transit could bring a lingering problem to the
surface and require attention. On one hand, this could be a
welcome breath of fresh air that cuts through the complexity of
your problems and puts the cards on the table (despite the
stress and conflict that likely triggered it). Or, you might
feel resistance to making these changes and instead experience
this as a time of unwelcome instability, upset and adjustment.
However, this may be a good way to break free of excessive
restraint, control or structure, which allows new possibilities
to emerge that couldn't do so otherwise.
Nov.27 Sun sextile Chiron (5:38 of
Sagittarius/Aquarius)
This is a time when you have an
opportunity to mend and heal the chronic struggles in your life.
You may find new inspiration, motivation or confidence that can
help rejuvenate waning enthusiasm or reconcile persistent
problems, although you'll still have to apply effort to bring it
all together. You might get the chance to demonstrate your
ability to walk your own path in a new way. Or, you might get a
peek inside the hidden shadow of your worries and
discouragement, giving you new insight into how you might be
unconsciously sabotaging your conscious efforts. You may have to
face a bit of your own fear of failure or low self-esteem before
you can get beyond these feelings and tap into the benefits of
this transit -- not because you are failing but because these
concerns may arise in response to the new potential now
available to you. By tapping into this potential for creative
problem solving, you can bring some healing to whatever your
situation is.
Nov.28 Mars square Saturn (25:01 of
Scorpio/Leo)
The impulsive forward action of Mars
meets the serious structure of Saturn. The resulting friction
can often generate considerable heat in the form of frustration,
argument, conflict and stress -- but also productivity and
results for hard work. Your efforts may seem thwarted and your
actions blocked at every turn. Your sensitivity to problems with
authority figures can be especially high, as well as your
sensitivity to others not cooperating with your own role as an
authority figure. The youthful, free spirit in you is somehow
required to deal with the serious, responsible, cautious side of
you, and a power struggle between the two energies can easily
result. If one side wins out over the other, either depression
and guilt or rebellion and obsession may result. However, you
are not without power or ability! This friction can also be put
to use in very productive ways. Your energy, desire and goals
can be made manifest and concrete -- even if possibly forced by
circumstance. Obstacles can strengthen us, if we work with them
instead of just fighting against them. To minimise interpersonal
problems, remember that assertiveness is important, but
aggression or rigidity will usually only get the other person's
back up. You may find yourself in a situation where you must
defend or assert your personal boundaries. Or, you might find it
difficult to comply with someone else's boundaries. If the heat
from this transit starts to overwhelm you, take some time out,
find a safe (perhaps creative?) outlet to vent your feelings,
and then find a new way to approach the problem.
Nov.30 Venus sextile Neptune (17:20
of Sagittarius/Aquarius)
Artistry, romance, creativity and
faith have the potential to flow freely now. Your creative Muse
is whispering in your ear, although it will still take your own
elbow grease to turn it into something real. Socially and
romantically, things could run smoothly and even a bit
magically, so be sure you are clear in yourself about what you
really want. This can be a time of blessings and abundance (in
all areas of life) ...but there is also the risk of overspending
and being overly optimistic in your assumptions about money and
relationships. Your natural beauty and warmth can be brought out
by this transit, but don't just waste it on creating a faηade of
outer glamour and charm. Let the essence of your inner beauty
and pure spirit shine through your appearance and mannerisms!

Dec.03 Pluto conjunct the Galactic
Centre (26 degrees of Sagittarius)
We call our Galaxy the Milky Way
because of the beautiful river of milky white light that
stretches across the night sky. The centre of our galaxy is a
massive source of radio waves, very possibly from a huge black
hole, called Sagittarius A*. This centre is currently at 26
degrees of Sagittarius. Its position shifts very slowly
(primarily due to precession) and takes roughly 75 years to
traverse just one degree of the Zodiac. According to The
American Ephemeris for the 21st Century, the GC will remain at
26 degrees until October 2010.
What does it mean for a planet to be
aligned with the Galactic Centre? This is still a new area of
astrology, so very little research has been done as yet.
However, it is generally interpreted to be a powerful amplifier
of the planet's raw archetypal energy. As such, we're more
likely to experience its effects on a global or vastly
transpersonal scale, rather than a personal one. Pluto has to do with death, rebirth
and transformation. It has been associated with very intense and
powerful energy, such as war and nuclear energy. Initially Pluto
can be very destructive before we start to see the more healing
or transformative benefits. Pluto is in the neighbourhood of the
Galactic Centre throughout 2006 and 2007, with close glimpses in
2005 and 2008. In fact, when Pluto went Retrograde in March
2006, it stationed at 26 degrees of Sagittarius the same
degree as the GC. Pluto is at 26 Sag during the time ranges of:
Feb.04 to May.24 2006, Dec.03 to 31 2006, and Jul.14 to Oct.29
2007, which could well be especially sensitive times.
It is interesting that during 2005 and
2006, we have seen a persistent global escalation of "sabre
rattling" involving nuclear power (real or potential). This
seems to echo some of Pluto's themes, although it remains to be
seen what influences will shift this situation in one direction
or another. We shall have to continue to observe the unfolding
of world events as Pluto continues to pass through this
sensitive area of the Zodiac.
Dec.03 Sun square Uranus (10:53 of
Sagittarius/Pisces)
Your world may experience a bit of a
shake-up right now, as the Universe decides it's time to make
things "interesting." This is a wake-up call, designed to loosen
you up from the ways you have become too habitual, stuck or
inhibited. The "radical rascal" in you may be itching to come
out and stir up trouble, which on one hand might be necessary
but also very disruptive and possibly even destructive. Be alert
to new insights and opportunities disguised as accidents or
crises. Your usual sense of self and purpose may become somewhat
unsettled right now, but a space is likely being cleared to make
room for new growth and possibilities. If you're looking to
break old habits or break free of old restrictions, this may be
the time -- but it could create a mess that you'll have to clean
up later. Resist the urge to rebel just for the sake of doing
something different, and aim instead to break free of old forms
of self-expression and ideals that dont work for you anymore.
Expect the unexpected and then surf the shock-wave.
Dec.04 Mercury square Saturn (25:04
of Scorpio/Leo)
Your thoughts, ideas and communication
need to become structured, rational and discreet, although this
may not be easy to achieve. You may have to work extra hard to
get your point across now, since others might be resistant to
your ideas or may not be familiar with the basic concepts. It is
a time to be clear, objective and down-to-earth in your
communication and thinking, but equally important to do this
without going overboard and becoming rigid, autocratic or
over-cautious. If you find yourself stuck in a "glass half
empty" frame of mind, you might be sagging under the weight of
melancholy ...Or, it might mean you are coming to terms with
some hard realities and decisions and feeling the gravity of the
implications. But also check to be sure you're not taking
yourself and your situation too seriously. By applying your best
efforts, this can be a very productive time, especially with
anything involving communication, writing, organising or logic.
This is the last of 3 passes of this
transit:
Oct.23,
Nov.01 and Dec.04. During this final pass you
are forming conclusions, making decisions and figuring out how
to apply these in your life.
Since Oct.08, Mercury has been moving
through the "Shadow." This is the span of the Zodiac in which he
has travelled 3 times during his most recent retrograde cycle -
first in Direct motion, then in Retrograde motion, then again in
Direct motion. Although the worst of the Mercury retrograde
effects are typically felt while Mercury is actually retrograde,
these effect build and dissipate during the Shadow periods
before and after the retrograde phase. It is generally advised
to wait, if possible, until Mercury is out of the Shadow before
initiating new projects or making important decisions. This is
because new or unexpected information often emerges during the
retrograde phase and even sometimes during the post-retrograde
Shadow. Don't forget - in the post-retrograde Shadow period, we
are dealing with all the mistakes, confusion and premature
actions that were done by everyone else who didn't know any
better. ;-) (But of course, none of us ever do these
things, right...? **cough**) At any rate, Mercury passes beyond
that Shadow area today. So, make sure your homework is done on
any projects or decisions you've been considering under the
retrograde phase, and then make your move using your best
judgment.
The Full Moon in Gemini brings the
opportunity to talk about what's on our minds everything from
the deep and dark to the wild and wonderful! This is a time for
you to stand out in front to proclaim your truth and share
your knowledge. If your facts are straight, your information is
organized, and your assumptions are checked out, there is a
powerful potential to channel very powerful knowledge that has
implications far beyond the basic data.
To pull this off, it will greatly help
matters if you are able to be flexible and allow room for
surprises, changes and disruptions. One possible source for this
is being pressured by the expectations or rules of others. With
Mercury closely square Saturn, you may have to answer to others
for the knowledge, information or abilities you claim to have.
You might have to prove yourself in some way. If you are not
able to convince the Powers That Be that you are right or
worthy, you may have to face consequences and adjust your
perceptions.
Although at first this might feel like
pressure or even punishment, it can actually teach you to be
clearer and more disciplined in your thoughts. And indeed, it
may take some discipline to keep from reacting to that pressure
by jumping down the person's throat or obsessing about
retaliation, revenge or resentment. Honesty with yourself and
with others might not be easy, but it's probably the best policy
it's a question of how you do it. Restraint, respect and
responsibility balanced with righteous, inspired and
It's interesting that at the New Moon
(on Nov.20), we had the Uranus station on the same day. This
time, at the Full Moon, we have the Saturn station (exact on
Dec.05). Between the New Moon's beginnings and the Full Moon's
culmination, we move from liberation to stabilization, from
rebellion to moderation, and from breaking free of old
restraints to counterbalancing that change with sustainability.
After the changes and upheaval that took place at the New Moon,
it is important to swing back the other way now and find ways to
support and maintain those changes. This often means embracing a
somewhat less exciting perspective to some extent, but it can
also allow some of that excitement and newness to endure.
Your best approach is to keep it
simple while still embracing a perspective, activity or
aspiration involving something greater than yourself. There's a
huge amount of information (both obvious and subtle) flying
around right now. This information leads to broader implications
and greater meaning, which will need to be assimilated and
integrated. Your job right now is to boil it all down to some
basic facts, truths and simplicity. Stay focused on the
substance of what you're doing, so that any embellishment can
enhance, not distract from, the experience and potential of what
is possible. This may not be easy, since your instinct may be to
leap further into the stratosphere in a quest to liberate
yourself from a boring, ordinary way of looking at things.
However, if you keep yourself balanced between the Big Picture's
grand vision and the basic, fundamental message of that vision,
you should do alright.
For up to a week before and after this
date, your physical and emotional energy may feel a bit heavy,
stuck, serious or sad. You might feel pressured by people or
situations involving structure, rules, authority figures,
expectations and responsibilities. For about the next four
months, your ambitions and goals can benefit from planning and
development at a deeper level. It is a time to rework and refine
your goals to figure out how you are going to achieve them. You
may also need to examine your motives for wanting to achieve
these goals, as well as how feasible they are. You may therefore
look at how your goals, or your method of achieving them, ought
to be changed. This can also be a time of working with issues
about authority, expectations, obligations or discipline, and
today's station could trigger these issues. If these are areas
you are uncomfortable with or are having problems with,
especially during the last 3 months, this retrograde period can
allow you to gradually build a new way of dealing with them or
problem-solving the difficulties. After Saturn turns Direct in 4
months, you will be in a better position to apply what you've
learned and developed more fully.
Dec.05 Mars
enters Sagittarius (until Jan.16.2007)
This energy flies! You might feel
inspired to defend a righteous cause, or to lead others in
taking a stand about something. Or you might strive to move
heaven and earth to reach toward a dream. You might be motivated
to learn something new, or to share your knowledge with others.
Inspiration, confidence and optimism can run high during this
transit, which may be experienced as a release of optimism,
freedom and spontaneous elation. However, it could also be a bit
too much of a good thing, launching you or others into
arrogance, confrontation or intolerance, especially if
challenged by strong opinions. Expanded courage could make it
easier to take risks or try new adventures, which will probably
work best if you're balanced with realism or common sense. This
is a time to act from your highest intention of morality,
philosophy, spirituality, compassion and understanding.
Dec.07 Venus
trine Saturn (25:04 of Sagittarius/Leo)
Stability in relationships and
finances characterises this transit. You have increased ability
to be disciplined about spending and to invest the hard work to
maximise your earnings. Your ability to grasp the solid,
realistic facts will help you choose wisely in your investments
of both money and interaction with others. Commitment and
structure are easier to achieve and embrace than change or
taking risks. Self-worth can benefit now because you are less
inclined to give in to mood swings. However, if you are prone to
depression, you might want to be careful you don't become so
grounded and stable that you lose touch with your sense of hope
and potential. It is a good time to make concrete progress in
matters involving beauty, love, harmony and balance. Keep your
pleasures simple and humble for maximum benefit.
Dec.07 Venus
conjunct Pluto (26:09 of Sagittarius)
Intensity in love and close
relationships can occur under this transit, as well as a
compelling need to get more control over your finances and
assets. This could manifest as power dynamics emerging in your
interactions with others, in which you engage in a negotiation
for a better balance of power that is more in your favour. Or,
you might become somewhat obsessed with the pursuit of pleasure
and beauty, possibly trying to compensate for a low sense of
self-worth. Or, there can be a valuable opportunity to develop a
deeper connection with those close to you. You might find it
necessary to negotiate with others for financial support. You
may have to dig deeper than usual to extract needed resources
from hidden places (or to deposit them there, out of reach from
others who want a piece of your hoard). Keep your integrity high
and dry by being honest with yourself about the ethics of your
actions.
Dec.08
Mercury enters Sagittarius (until Dec.27)
Communication, ideas, thoughts and
perceptual "spark" become expanded in Sagittarius. Your mental
focus tends toward a philosophical and spiritual outlook that
seeks the highest truth in the broadest context. However, it's
not always easy for the conscious mind to assimilate and digest
such a vast territory of knowledge, or to find the higher
meaning in mountains of raw information. You might feel a bit
overwhelmed by trying to take in such a panoramic view of your
world, but the gifts from doing so are abundant and inspiring!
To get the most out of this transit, try learning something new
that expands your horizon. Or pick a situation in your life and
imagine that you're looking at it from a mountaintop -- what do
you see from way up there that you can't see when you're closer
to the ground? Just remember that whatever visions and insights
you get from doing this, these are SOME of the truths to be
found, but not necessarily the only truth. Leave room in your
new understanding to remember that every mountaintop shows a
slightly different view and that this doesn't make one mountain
right and the others wrong.
Dec.09 Sun
sextile Neptune (17:30 of Sagittarius/Aquarius)
Faith in the bountiful blessings of
the Universe is within reach under this transit...but then, so
is the fantasy that you will be magically granted anything you
wish for. Although this is mostly a very positive energy, you
could become so immersed in your longing for the ideal that you
have trouble dealing with the less-than-ideal realities that
still must be dealt with. Gaining the benefit from this transit
will still require some effort. Hope, optimism and imagination
are in the air, which could bring some relief from any
depression or discouragement you might be feeling. Your
creativity and imagination can be very inspired under this
transit. Your sense of self could also get an infusion of
uplifting vision, and you may experience a sense of mission,
feeling that you are truly a Child of the Universe. There is
potential now to lift you out of the ordinary and into the
sublime -- spiritually, creatively, romantically or
compassionately -- although this will require your cooperation
to take advantage of it. Enjoy it while it lasts, but before you
make changes based on what might feel like a permanent
condition, remember that this is mostly a temporary influence
and you will still have to live within the bounds of the
physical world after it passes. Don't make overly optimistic
promises now, that you will have to fulfil later when the
euphoria wears off.
Dec.09
Mercury conjunct Mars (02:45 of Sagittarius)
Spontaneous or impulsive words may
come flying out of your mouth under this transit! If you've been
struggling to keep opinions or observations to yourself, you
might find it hard to keep them quiet, especially if you feel
strongly about the situation. You might see things as more "cut
and dried" than usual. Although you might feel frustrated if
things don't happen in a direct, quick, straightforward way, it
can also be a good time to make decisions and move forward with
plans. On one hand, this can have a positive effect because it
can give you courage to speak your mind and assert yourself
candidly and honestly. On the other hand, you might also come
across as abrupt, cranky, argumentative or even downright
hostile, especially if you've been stuffing down anger or
resentment for a while. This transit represents a new beginning
in how you can handle self-assertiveness, communication and
decision-making. By "listening to" your impulses, passions and
urge to speak your truth, you can get an idea how your "inner
voice" wants to emerge -- and how to do that without
annihilating the other person. ;-)
Dec.10
Mercury conjunct Jupiter (03:39 in Sagittarius)
This aspect can make you quite
talkative and your mind flooded with ideas. Be careful you don't
blurt out any secrets! Your stream of consciousness ideas can
flow abundantly right now with optimism and visionary
possibilities. Write down your best ideas for later development,
since you may be having too much fun playing with ideas, to stop
and make them manifest. Basic perceptions and simple
communication can provide food for thought that feeds your
greater understanding and philosophical insight. Your point of
view expands to identify opportunities, possibilities and the
broader implications of what is happening around you. You might
get a flash of vision, insight and inspiration. You could be
called upon to form an opinion, consider a different viewpoint,
expand your knowledge, or make a judgement call. Your conscious
awareness is open to spiritual experiences right now.
Dec.10
Mercury-Mars-Jupiter conjunction (all at 3 degrees of
Sagittarius)
These three planets align together at
the same degree on Dec.10 a rare precise alignment!
Unfortunately, no one will actually see it because it happens
too close to the Sun. (The Sun's light will be too bright to see
it.) But we will surely feel it! These three planets are within
orb of a conjunction aspect roughly from Nov.30 to Dec.18, with
the energy peaking on Dec.10. This alignment combines mental
outlook and communication (Mercury) with assertiveness, ambition
and action (Mars), as well as our vision, worldview and beliefs
(Jupiter). At its best, this can grant you the
ability to make progress and take action in your far-reaching
visions. It can sharpen and focus the mind, and you could make
great strides in planning and realizing your dreams. This is a
time when we may find the inspiration to "take the high road"
when confronted or challenged. At its worst, however, it could
also amplify any overreactions that you might have. If you need
to produce an impressive opinion or viewpoint, but don't feel
you have enough knowledge or overall understanding, there is a
risk you could become arrogant or try to bluff your way through.
This might work temporarily, but be careful about making
promises you can't keep or impressing others so much that you
can't follow through with substance.
Dec.11 Venus
enters Capricorn (until Jan.03.2007)
Friendly, abundant Venus travels
through serious, structured Capricorn, bringing out her
grounded, material side. It may be time to make new plans and
commitments for material or relationship goals. It can be a time
to get serious and make some solid decisions about what works
and what doesn't. It may help to organise and systemise the way
you approach relationships, finances, resources and pleasure. An
example of systemising pleasure is to schedule regular time to
pamper yourself, or to make a point of doing the hard work that
will pay off in pleasure later (like eating healthier food or
working out more). Although this might seem a bit unromantic or
uninspiring, you'll find that laying the groundwork for what you
want to attract into your life will provide support for the
rewards to come.
Dec.11 Mars
conjunct Jupiter (03:52 of Sagittarius)
"When the Moon is in the 7th House
and Jupiter aligns with Mars, then peace with guide the planets
and love will steer the stars!" This quote from the song "Age of
Aquarius" from the musical Hair describes this transit. When the
aggression, drive, courage and desire of Mars are combined with
Jupiter's love of justice, mercy and higher purpose, we can get
the best of both worlds. On the other hand, we can also get the
worst of both worlds; for example, self-righteousness or
over-zealousness. This transit sparks a new beginning in our use
of these energies, which unfolds over the next 2 years or so.
The questions to ask yourself at its initiation, now, are: Will
you use your energy to seek greater understanding, or to jump to
conclusions? Will your courage be used to fight for justice or
to blame? Will your passion and drive be used to advance a
higher purpose or to inflict angry destruction in the name of
judgment? The reality will probably lie somewhere in between,
but awareness of which extreme you are drifting toward will
allow you to make choices about whether you want to correct your
course or go with the flow.
Dec.12
Mercury sextile Chiron (06:27 of Sagittarius/Aquarius)
Your mental focus and communication
could get an injection of healing energy under this transit, as
long as you are prepared to put some effort into getting it.
Your spirits can become uplifted now, from seeing a light at the
end of the tunnel or from finding a light that guides you along
the path in front of you. It will not, however, make the tunnel
or the path go away; you'll still have to walk the walk. But
your mental perspective can become more accepting of
inconsistencies and frustrations under this transit, which can
alleviate a lot of stress and make the journey a bit smoother.
Mental struggles and critical "self-talk" may find some
reconciliation and acceptance that brings peace of mind. You
have an increased ability to find the right words and
understanding to help others with their problems, by providing
insightful feedback. To get the most out of this transit, aim to
find a mental outlook and communication style that can tolerate
contradiction without having to eradicate one in order to
justify the other.
Dec.15 Mars
sextile Chiron (06:39 of Sagittarius/Aquarius)
This transit gives you the
opportunity to take action that can bring some healing
resolution to some ongoing problems you've been having. For
example, if you've been suffering from weakened energy or
chronic health problems, this transit could bring a bit of
relief, especially if you're willing to invest some effort to
move yourself forward. Or you might find that you have extra
self-confidence to deal with a dilemma that has not wanted to go
away. You might also find yourself in a position where you can
help others find some relief or empowerment related to their
suffering and chronic struggles. Problem solving of all kinds
can benefit by taking an attitude of proactively doing what you
can do, and then let go of what you can't.
Dec.15
Mercury square Uranus (11:05 of Sagittarius/Pisces)
Flashes of insight can show you new
clarity but you might not like the answers you get, since they
could disturb your logical perception of what's what. You might
get some news or learn come information that shakes you up in
some way. This isn't necessarily bad, since this may be
necessary to open your mind to something you've been resisting.
There's a Higher Truth here that wants to be told (by you or to
you), but the way it's phrased can make a big difference in the
reaction. There is a risk of "shooting off your mouth before
your brains are loaded," as the saying goes, and impulsive or
reckless communication and ideas could create more problems than
they solve. It will probably help to listen inside yourself
first to discover what you really need to say, and then figure
out how to say it in a way that doesn't cause unnecessary
damage. Strive to shine a light of truth without blinding anyone
with it.
Dec.16 Sun
Trine Saturn (24:58 of Sagittarius/Leo)
This is a great time to apply yourself
to serious work. You may feel especially self-sufficient and
independent, with a strong and clear sense of self and purpose.
There is support for your ambitions as long as you stay grounded
and practical in how you approach them, which should come easily
right now. Your ability to cooperate and feel comfortable with
authority figures is likely to be high, along with your capacity
to embrace your own authority and make solid decisions. This is
a time when you are more likely to feel grounded and deal with
problems in a practical, decisive way. Your energy may be more
serious than "party animal," but even if you are in "party mode"
it will be easier to realistically know your limits and not
overdo it. If you've been waiting for the right time to move
forward with or manifest a project or plan that you've been
putting together (or wanting to), this could be the time when
that happens. The final launch or manifestation may or may not
happen now, but you will probably be able to at least move
forward in some important steps.
Dec.18 Sun
conjunct Pluto (26:32 of Sagittarius)
Your sense of purpose is potentially
very strong right now, as you are able to tap into a deeper
level of energy and determination. Your personality is likely to
be more forceful now, which can be great if you need to make a
strong impression but perhaps not so great in situations
requiring delicacy, subtlety or diplomacy. You have increased
ability to see below the surface of things, although it may not
be as easy to articulate it in a way that is received
comfortably by others. What you pick up from others can also
become mixed up with your own personal issues, making it hard to
tell where one stops and the other begins. Paranoia and
suspicion can be strong. It is possible to unearth secrets or
get at the core of unconscious patterns (yours and others'), but
it is important to be prudent in how you respond to this
awareness. You have the ability to wound as well as heal right
now, so probe into the depths (yours and others') as you would
into an egg shell that you don't want to break -- gently,
mindfully and respectfully.
Dec.19
Mercury sextile Neptune (17:46 of Sagittarius/Aquarius)
Your mind is very open to imagination,
dreams and compassion under this transit, with a little applied
effort and focus. This can be a very creative time, when ideas
flow like a magical river. It can also be easy to get caught up
in yearning and fantasizing about your hidden wishes, although
it is possible to channel this into creative expression. (e.g.,
writing poetry, dancing, wistful music, singing in the shower,
whatever!) The possible disadvantage is that you might want so
much to reach a state of inspired intuition, magical outlook and
effortless communication, that you are willing to be deceived
rather than fall short of what you are hoping for. Listening
sympathetically to others' problems may come easily now, and you
are more likely to get a compassionate response from others
about your own problems. However, it may also be difficult to
draw clear and firm boundaries with others, since you are more
susceptible to the emotional gravity of others. It is ultimately
a time for optimism, hope, creativity and intuition, although
it's wise to keep at least one foot on the ground.
Dec.19 Venus
sextile Uranus (11:11 of Capricorn/Pisces)
Relationships, finances, resources and
pleasures could benefit from spontaneously trying a completely
different approach. If these areas of your life have been
getting a little stale or too routine, this transit could shake
things up a little...just enough to make things interesting and
breathe some fresh air into your familiar routine. Unexpected
income could come your way, or you might discover something you
just can't resist buying, or you might have an opportunity to
make new social connections. The upside of this transit is that
it's possible to break free of old habits and enjoy spontaneous
interaction. The downside could come in the form of impulse
purchases that are beyond your budget, or behaving a bit
recklessly or making snap decisions that you can't live with
later. This energy is best used to break free of what restricts
you, without shattering the foundation you're standing on.
