March 2008
For the New
Moon Cycle in Pisces : March 7/8 to April 5/6, 2008
Mar.07 NEW MOON in PISCES (17:31 of Pisces)
This is a very concentrated New Moon that has a lot of energy packed into very few places. Between high-strung Uranus closely conjunct the
New Moon and four planets in Aquarius, this lunar cycle has a decidedly Aquarian edge! If Pisces is music, this New Moon is modern jazz!
This combination of energies is likely to bring unexpected, unconventional or surreal experiences. The fluid imagination of Pisces could
flow into some rather unusual containers. On the plus side, this could be a very creative time. On the minus side, this could make it easier to assume that vague
imaginings are actually definite reality. It will be helpful to have a clear awareness of what your own hopes, fears and "triggers" are.
Another clump of condensed energy in this chart is the Stellium and Multiple Conjunction in Aquarius.
("What's a Stellium?"
"What's a Multiple Conjunction?") This includes Venus, Neptune, Mercury and Chiron, as
well as the North Lunar Node. Venus conjunct Neptune brings out even more creative energy and adds romance, love and beauty to the mix. Mercury conjunct Neptune
underscores the imaginative quality of your mind.
Neptune sitting smack in between Venus and Mercury can make the heart and mind very open. The interchange and communication between your
thoughts and your feelings are likely to flow more easily than usual. For example, if you are in love or if you meet someone you're attracted to, your feelings
could hit you more deeply than you're expectingand could even seem to come out of nowhere.
With these planets in Aquarius, you might feel like you're skipping like a rock over the surface
of your feelings and thoughts. One thought, perception, feeling, urge or passion may glide quickly and easily into the next, possibly before your objective rational
mind has a chance to examine what you're feeling and decide whether things are what they seem to be.
The advantage is that this energy can slip you past your usual guarded defences, so that you are better able to get out of your own way
and explore new adventures. The disadvantage is that this energy can slip you past your usual guarded defences, so that you wind up a little too vulnerable and less
able to figure out how to protect yourself. In that case, a reality check with someone you trust can be helpful to bring you back to your center.
There are very few aspects in the New Moon chart, beyond conjunctions. There is a
Little Eye aspect configuration in which the Sun-Moon-Uranus group are sextile to Jupiter, and both are semi-sextile to Chiron in Aquarius. The Little Eye acts
kind of like a satellite dish, pulling in all kinds of information. Like a real satellite or radar scope, this configuration is a very sensitive instrument that can
allow you to detect subtle phenomena that fly under the radar.
This "radar" starts with Jupiter in sextile to the Sun-Moon-Uranus combo, showing a creative and positive potential for
unconventional ideas and insights. The middle planet provides a sort of "sideways" perspective that reveals a vaguely dissenting view. Think of it as the "yes-but"
that means you must take other things into account.
The planet in the middle of this configuration is Chiron. Chiron is about woundedness and healing. It teaches us to accept that
which cannot be changed and to change the stuff we can. As a result, there is both disappointment and liberation embodied in Chiron. So it may become important for
you to face and accept some disappointment in order to free the rest of you to move beyond your limitations.
Chiron has a very special role to plan in the New Moon chart. It is the "apex planet" of the Little Eye configuration, making it the focal
point of that ultra-sensitive energy. But it is also a kind of spokesperson for the other planets in AquariusMercury, Venus and Neptune. This is because, although
they are all in conjunction with each other, Chiron is the only one that is within orb to form aspects to Jupiter, Sun, Moon and Uranus. Chiron is also the only
planet of the bunch to have major aspects to the entire chart, beyond themselves. Chiron is therefore the connective tissue between its "buddies" in Aquarius and
the rest of the chartan important job!
Chiron's challenge is to heal that which seems incurable by distinguishing between what can and cannot be changed. And yet, the very
nature of the Little Eye configuration makes it very hard to objectively decipher the flood of information that it picks up.
This could therefore be a time when you become a bit overwhelmed or fragmented trying to deal with all the information, feelings,
priorities and ideas that come your way. It may help to take a step back and try not to take it quite so seriouslybut don't step back so far that you just coldly
disconnect from it all! When you find the right balance, there is potential for great insight, ideas, hope and inspiration now, which is both heartfelt and
practical; intuitive and disciplined.
As an example, you might find yourself in a dilemma where you wish you could be carried away from it all. You may fantasize about
surrendering to a momentum that would carry you effortlessly toward liberation from the uncertainty that you feel. However, the deliverance you seek might also
separate you from your personal feelings and needs. Although the solution might meet your needs, it could be not as satisfying as you'd imagined. In other words,
the romantic, creative, imaginative, dreaming part of you might have to settle for something a bit less personal or intimate than you were hoping for. On the other
hand, the advantage is that you might be able to rise above feelings or expectations that you normally get stuck in, enabling you to mentally levitate above a
difficult situation.
The other big transit happening at the New Moon is the final pass of the Mars-Pluto opposition. This has been a long time coming!
These two planets have been taking shots at each other from across the zodiac since September 2007. Their first pass was Sept.21.2007 and the second pass was
Jan.02.2008.
Now the final pass of this powerful transit comes on the same day as this New Moon, imprinting this lunar cycle with a very powerful axis
of energy. Although there are no planets in Fire signs at the time of the New Moon, there is likely to be no shortage of passion and intensity! With the New Moon
being in Pisces, you could feel some very free-flowing and powerful emotions; and with Uranus conjunct the New Moon, this could rise up in sudden, intense bursts.
What will help this volatility is Saturn. Saturn forms a Wedge aspect
configuration with the Mars-Pluto opposition. ("What's a Wedge?") This can help you find productive, constructive and disciplined
ways to channel all that Mars-Pluto intensity and volatility. If you get triggered into anger or frustration, you may find it's easier to stabilize your feelings
than you thought you could. You might find it is easier to stand your ground without resorting to either aggressive tactics or withdrawal. The danger is in
retreating into stubbornness where you could possibly get stuck; but if you keep looking for ways to fine-tune your position and keep doing a reality check, it
should minimize that risk.
The Mars-Pluto opposition also forms a Hard Wedge to Chiron.
("What's a Hard Wedge?") There's Chiron again! Busy little devil, isn't he? Chiron is there to remind you that when you put your
passion into action, when you are confronted with "power plays," or when you channel your ambition into productivity, you may have to go that extra mile in order to
make it all come together.
Overall, this lunar cycle packs a powerful punch in a soft velvet glove. Your attitude and outlook will be significant factors in which
one grabs your attention the mostthe punch or the velvet. If it's more the velvet, you could become mesmerized by the beauty, mystery and fallibility of humanity
and the Universe. If it's more the punch, you might become engaged in a passionate struggle to reach an idealized vision of healing and liberationand then have to
face disappointment or struggle because it doesn't match your expectations or because it comes with an unexpected cost.
It will help to draw on that Saturn energy to stabilize and ground you. With Saturn in Virgo, it will also help to gather clear
information and sharpen your coping skills, so that your efforts are effective and healing. A personal astrology reading
can give you that clarity.

Mar.07 Mars opposite Pluto (00:58 of Cancer/Capricorn)
(Note: although this transit was included in the last update, I'm repeating it here to make it easier to see how it fits into the New
Moon energy.) Mars and Pluto doing battle in the skies can create a very intense showdown! This is a time when tempers can flare, power struggles can
emerge, and aggressive action could seem like the only way to handle a conflict. If you feel yourself becoming entangled in a mounting tension with someone, you
might do well to back off a bit to let the adrenaline subside on both sides. On the other hand, it is a time when we are often challenged to assert ourselves and
strengthen our spirit, which can often be brought on by confrontation. This is the kind of atmosphere where our interactions with others can bring out deeply hidden
and intense feelings inside us, which long to be expressed but are usually suppressed instead. This is an opportunity to observe what gets triggered inside of us
and what kind of interaction triggers those feelings. It can be valuable to use the experience as a way to vent old frustration, work through unresolved anger, and
ultimately heal our deeper wounds by letting go of whatever holds us back. Sexual energy can run very high under this transit, so handle it wisely.
This is the last of 3 passes of this intense transit. (Hooray!!) The other two passes took place
Sep.21.2007 and Jan.2.2008. Mars opposite Pluto would be a rather intense and noteworthy transit on its own. This one
is unusually so because Mars has been retrograde, which it only does about every 2 years (and is therefore very rare, as retrogrades go). The two planetary rulers
of Scorpio have squared off during this time, creating incidents and movements of violence, aggression, ambition, initiative and powercertainly globally and
probably grappling with these issues personally too.
This final pass is unique in the series because Pluto is in Capricorn, whereas it was in Sagittarius for the previous 2 passes. Since
Pluto changes signs very rarely (the last time was 1995!), it is very significant for Mars to usher Pluto into its next sign. (Interestingly, when Pluto makes its
final entry to Capricorn on Nov.27, it is virtually unaspected.) Mars and Pluto both signify aggression and our ability to own and wield power without destroying
the people, territory or situation around us in the process.
So, as the saying goes, "How's that workin' for ya?" If the last 7 years are any indication, we've got a LONG way to go. Pluto going into
Capricorn provides the next step in the journey. Mars brings that journey down to a personal level and challenges you to find ways to gather your power, your anger,
your passion, your ambition, your fear, your courage and your individuality. You are challenged to project this from your core. (You'll notice I said "project" not
"projectile.")
Mar.01-Jun.30 Little Eye aspect configuration (Jupiter, Uranus, Chiron)
Under this subtle but persistent aspect figure, you may find you are very sensitive to expansive ideas and possibilities. However, you are
also likely to pick up on the implications, consequences, challenges and drawbacks of those ideas. This could bring you to a nagging dilemma: Do you reach out
toward the greater potential despite the costs and drawbacks? Or do you settle for something that has more practical or entertainment value in order to gain the
most success for the least risk? There is at least as much value in going through the struggle as there is in the final conclusions or results that you arrive at.
You are learning to prioritize and compromise. You are discovering what it takes to get you to reach beyond your reluctance or pain, and how to tell when you've
reached too far and need to conserve your energy and well-being.
This is a long-term struggle lasting about 4 months. It stays within a very close orb throughout most of that time (less than 1 degrees),
and reaches its closest point around March 28 (when all three aspects are less than 0:20 orb) and then again around May 21 (less than 1 degree).
Mar.08 Reminder: North America changes to Daylight Savings Time (DST)
If you're in Canada or the US, and if your area observes Daylight Savings Time, turn your clocks FORWARD today. (Please note that Europe
and Australia don't change to DST until Mar.30.)
Mar.08 Sun conjunct Uranus (18:39 of Pisces) (Mar.09 in AU)
Spontaneity, surprises and "flying by the seat of your pants" characterize this transit. You are more open than usual to new experiences
and open-minded to new perspectives. Your sense of humour and fun are finely tuned and may spring up unexpectedly and irreverently. It is more possible to break
free of old habits and getting out of a rut you have been in. In fact, you may find it is fun to try doing something completely out of character...so much so that
it's wise to be careful not to be too reckless under this transit. Have fun pushing the envelope, but try not to rip or shred that envelope. On the other hand, that
might be the only way you can get out of a restrictive situation that's holding you back, and this transit could give you the impulsive courage to do just that.
Your creativity may come in bursts and in unexpected ways, so try to take advantage of them when they present themselves or else write down your inspiration for
future consideration.
Mar.08-15 Venus and Mercury conjunct North Lunar Node (27:34 and 27:29 of Aquarius)
("What's the Lunar Node?")
Venus and Mercury each conjoin the North Node about once per year, so it's not that unusual. But it is unusual for them to do it together!
When a planet conjoins the North Node, it brings that planet's energy into a more powerful focus. You are challenged to take in, embrace, move toward and reach out
for things to do with that planetor, in this case, two planets.
This is an extension of the Mercury-Venus conjunction of Feb.26. At that time, Venus was going faster and overtook Mercury (which only
happens around Mercury's retrograde cycle). Venus was the dominant energy then, meaning your heart's desire was probably stronger than your logical reasoning.
However, on Mar.09, Mercury finally starts to go faster than Venus again, and coincidentally they are both conjunct the North Node when
this happens. This represents a shift in the balance between your head (Mercury) and your heart (Venus); between your rational mind and your emotional desires. Your
mental focus and conscious awareness is likely to gradually increase over the next couple of weeks.
The shift that takes place now brings the Mercury-Venus combination into a special focus, reviving the conjunction energy (merging the two
energies). This is a time when one-to-one communication can flow more easily. Depending on your situation, it might be a good time to find new ways to say what
needs to be said to restore harmony between you and someone else. Or it might be a good time to listen a little closer and hear what the other person is saying more
clearly. This could be a time of creative release, inspiration and ideas. And it might even be a time when you run into people with whom you can combine your
creative and productive energies over the next several months.
Mar.08-19 Mystic Rectangle aspect configuration (Mars, Pluto, Saturn, Venus/Mercury)
("What's a Mystic Rectangle?")
(Closest Mar.13-17) Wondering how to put all that
Mars-Pluto passion and intensity to productive use? This aspect figure can provide the support to help you do just that. Under the influence of the Mystic
Rectangle, internal stress, frustration and struggle are enclosed within an outer shell of easy-going harmony. And in turn, that shell is animated and given life
from the heat of the struggle within. With these particular planets being involved, you should have enough fuel to be able to glow in the dark! By taking a
disciplined, practical, grounded approach to how you express yourself, you can harness passion and strength that might otherwise leak out in destructive or
counter-productive ways. Creativity and productivity can become powerful allies under this combined energy. Just be careful not to turn it in on yourself through
depression, resentment or selling yourself short. If you start to fall into that trap, find someone who can help pull you out again. A personal astrology reading
can help you stop the negative spiral and redirect it in a positive direction.
Mar.09 Mercury conjunct Neptune (22:43 of Aquarius)
The imagination soars under this transit! Possibilities seem richer, insights appear more magical and creativity flows like liquid honey.
Your intuition is likely to be more fluid, and you may even have psychic experiences. Dreams may be more vivid and active, including daydreams. You may feel a need
for quiet meditation or just being alone with your own thoughts. Your mental focus may seem a bit blurred, although in the outer edges you may catch a glimpse of
ideas and possibilities that you don't ordinarily notice. It can be an inspiring time if you are involved in creative activities, like artwork, music, writing and
other creative forms of communication and self-expression. This is a time when your "Right Brain" (intuitive, creative, non-rational) may be very active. In fact,
it might be a bit difficult to bring a sharp focus to your "Left Brain" (logical, rational, realistic). Your judgment and ability to be objective may be off, and
you could be more prone to wishful thinking and flights of fantasy. If you're making an important decision now, it may be wise to do a reality check with a trusted
friend before you commit yourself.
Mercury is finally finished with this retrograde cycle. Perhaps you've been waiting for this moment to make some major decisions. Or maybe
you've just been holding your breath, waiting for Mercury to outgrow his Brat phase. It's okay to breathe now you're (relatively) safe ...at least until May 2008.
;-)
Mar.12 Venus enters Pisces (until Apr.06) (Mar.13 in AU)
Creativity, harmony and compassion permeate our experiences while Venus waltzes through Pisces. If you are an artist, musician, writer or
other imaginative artisan, this can be a time of great creative inspiration. Even if you're not, this can still be a time when your appreciation of the arts is
heightened and your sensual enjoyment of life increases. Relationships can be influenced by this placement, by encouraging more openness to love and romance. While
this can make interaction smoother and more magical, it might also make you more vulnerable to deception or disappointment. Be receptive don't misplace your better
judgment. This can also be a time when you are prone to feeling a Universal Oneness with humanity. You may find you have increased capacity for compassion, caring
and connection with others. This, too, can be a mixed blessing -- it can bring out your most loving side, but could also make you more easily taken advantage of.
You might feel inspired to make a selfless sacrifice, or to donate money or resources as a form of service. It is all done in the name of Universal beauty, truth
and compassion. Celebrate this transit by going to a concert of beautiful music, or stroll through an art gallery, or indulge in dreamy sensuality, or let yourself
feel a loving connection with all that is around you.

Mar.13 Venus sextile Pluto (01:03 of Pisces/Capricorn) (Mar.14 in AU)
Close one-on-one relationships with people (close friends, lovers, partners of all kinds) could possibly benefit by being taken to a
deeper level now, through creatively combining balanced harmony with deep connection. Just be careful that intimacy and bonding don't go over the top into obsession
or domination. There is a brief opportunity now to become more authentic in how you relate to those close to you and how you establish a balance of power with them.
The trick is to do this without trying to suppress, control or overpower the other person's interests. Financially, it is a time when you may have an opportunity to
profit in your dealings with banks, insurance companies, taxes, and other institutions that deal with collective money.
Mar.14 Mars sextile Saturn (03:39 of Cancer/Virgo) (Mar.15 in AU)
There is an opportunity to harness the energy of willpower using practical discipline. Your physical and mental energy are likely to be
stable and enduring, or else they can become this way more easily than usual by applying a sustained focus of effort. This is a great transit if you need to be
productive or to make progress in a goal that you are working toward. The thing to watch out for is a tendency to be over-cautious to the point where you get stuck
in the planning stage and don't get much done. Or, you might try to rush into the production phase before your plans are fully formed. This transit works best when
these areas are brought into balance.
Mar.14 Mercury enters Pisces (until Apr.02) (Mar.15 in AU)
Imagination, dreams, creativity and intuition are more easily accessible while Mercury floats through Pisces. You may be more
impressionable, appreciative and open to ideas that previously had seemed improbable, unrealistic or silly. This is a good transit for any creative work -- writing,
music, artistic projects, or just putting ideas together in new ways. Problem solving could benefit now, because it may be easier to think beyond the limiting
boundaries of the situation. On the other hand, it might also be easier to become caught in confusion, ambiguity or ambivalence, since the sharp edges of definition
may be easily blurred or distorted. This is a time when the "Right Brain" -- the intuitive, creative and non-rational side of the mind -- can be more active. As a
result, meditation, dreams and daydreams may be more accessible. Unfortunately, illusion and deception might also be more convincing and enticing, since critical
and objective thinking could be a bit harder to maintain. You might also experience some mental lethargy and need to give your mind a rest. Try going to a movie, or
read an entertaining novel, or spend some quality "alone time" with yourself. Or, take a long walk in a park or by a body of water, where you can enjoy the luxury
of just appreciating nature and "being" instead of "doing." Some harmless or entertaining escapism can be a great way to give yourself a mental vacation -- just
dont get stuck there. Explorations of spiritual experience and thought can also bring new insights and inspiration under this transit.
Mar.15 Mercury sextile Pluto (01:04 of Pisces/Capricorn) (Mar.16 in AU)
Penetrating insights and passionate communication are possible under this transit ...although, so is speaking more forcefully than you
intend to about things that require a bit of delicacy or discretion. It is also a time when your mental concentration can come together so easily that you become
obsessed. You may prefer in-depth discussion to small-talk, and it might feel awkward if you aren't able to explore the depths in your interaction or communication
with others. However, you likely have an increased ability to pick up on undercurrents of what's happening around you. This is also a time when you can start to
shed and leave behind old worn out perceptions and ways of communicating. You also have an increased ability to take thoughts, ideas and information and transform
them into something healing ...or wounding. Choose your words carefully and mindfully. Writing down your thoughts and ideas to capture the energy of this transit
can help you gather the deeper qualities.
Mar.15 Venus opposite Saturn (03:35 of Pisces/Virgo) (Mar.16 in AU)
There are realities to face and deal with, probably related to the way you handle relationships and/or finances. This is a time when you
start to see a return on your investments -- literally or figuratively. This could be an investment of energy, cooperation and good faith in a close relationship,
or it might be the long-term development of a goal requiring financing or resources. It can be a time when "the bill comes in" and you are required to "put your
money where your mouth is" and make a deeper commitment to that investment. Or, you might have to admit that the results are not what you had hoped for and you must
decide whether to continue or reinvest your energies elsewhere. In other words, this is a time when something might come to an end or your situation becomes more
stressful because you have some hard choices to make. The key is to take a long hard look at the realities before you -- is it worth it to continue in the direction
you're going? What is required if you decide to take it to the next step? The situation may demand effort, but there's also a more solid footing waiting on the
other side.
Mar.16 Venus trine Mars (04:12 of Pisces/Cancer)
It will be a lot easier to balance assertiveness with receptivity under this transit. In fact, it is a great time to take firm action that
requires a sensitive touch, and to negotiate agreements in a way that is diplomatic, fair and powerful. Your ability to attract what you desire (money, love,
pleasure, flirting, etc.), and to act on those desires, is strong right now, so use it wisely. This may include romantic attraction and sexual interaction, or it
might involve artistic creativity. It could also be a time when your actions attract money and possessions, but it could also go the other way -- your spending may
also increase! Again: use this energy wisely and don't overextend yourself, but do have fun with it!
Mar.17 Mercury opposite Saturn (03:28 of Pisces/Virgo)
The time has come to face facts. There may be a reality in your life that you've been avoiding, and you need to accept and deal with it.
Or, you might have to conform to the expectations of others because there's no other way around it. Or, you could find that your ability to communicate, say what
you want to say, or get your point across is harder for a few days. This will pass, but there may be concrete reasons why this might not be the best time to
communicate whatever is on your mind. You might feel a bit as if you're being tested, and in some way this could be true. This transit may bring an opportunity to
see how much you really know and how skilled you are at using that knowledge. On the other hand, this could be a time when hard work and preparation that you've
done for several months could pay off. You may be able to progress to the next step in a project, or to make plans in an organised, concrete and responsible way.
For a few days, taking a structured, methodical or factual approach to whatever you're doing may produce the best results.
Mar.18 Mercury trine Mars (05:02 of Pisces/Cancer)
It may be easy to find the courage to speak your mind and say what needs to be said under this transit. In fact, your ideas and words may
come so quickly and easily that it's hard to stop them from tumbling out of your mouth before you've had a chance to evaluate the best way to say them. Your
communication is likely to be direct, concise and right on the mark, even if it might also be a bit blunt or pointed. If you need to confront someone about a
difficult situation, this transit can provide courage and clear words to help you do that -- although perhaps not as good for a situation requiring a more delicate,
sensitive touch. It is a time when you could potentially find the nerve to take risks, or to defend yourself if the need arises (especially verbally). Overall, this
is a wonderful transit for anything involving direct communication (e.g., public speaking, writing, debating), as well as mental agility (e.g., generating ideas,
finding solutions, making decisions).
Mar.20 Vernal Equinox ~ Sun enters Aries (until Apr.19)
("What's the Equinox?")
VERNAL EQUINOX
Ottawa, Canada, and
Washington DC, USA:
Mar.20, 1:48 AM EDT
London, UK:
Mar.20, 5:48 AM GMT
Sydney, AU:
Mar.20, 4:48 PM AEDT
What is the Equinox?
Happy Equinox! And Happy Solar Return to everyone born in the sign of Aries! This is the Vernal Equinox -- the time when day and night are
of equal length. In the northern hemisphere, this marks the beginning of Spring, as the light increases. In the southern hemisphere, it is the start of Fall, as the
light decreases. While the Sun is in Aries, it is a time when all of us (not just those born under the sign of Aries) have the opportunity to experience our Aries
nature. The archetype of that nature is like the pure life force that is contained in a single seed. A seed is the residue of a previous cycle of growth -- both its
resulting harvest and its unfinished business. The Aries energy is about our use of that raw life force within our personal expression of that energy. It manifests
in assertiveness, courage, risk-taking, directness, initiative, our sex drive, and the pioneering spirit. It can also emerge as aggression, pushiness, violence,
anger, recklessness and self-absorption. The same forceful energy that can fuel damage and single-minded egotism is the same energy that, applied in a different
way, is also essential for self-validation, confidence and the drive to make things happen. While the Sun is in Aries, we all have the opportunity to explore how we
use this energy in our lives and whether we want to change this. Here are some suggestions about how to explore your Aries nature: Is there something new you want
to start in your life? What activities do you want to begin that youve never done before? What will give you the courage and confidence to bring these into your
life? If it is not possible to do this, or if you encounter delays, how do you deal with your frustration? Do anger and frustration motivate you to take action, or
do these emotions tend to overwhelm and inhibit you? How do you express your anger, and does this clear the air or just create more problems? Use this time to
explore these and related areas.
Mar.21 Sun square Pluto (01:07 of Aries/Capricorn)
This can be a challenging time, when your sense of purpose, identity and direction may feel blocked, overpowered or regulated by forces
beyond your control. You may find yourself confronted by difficult situations or people, requiring that you rally an unusually strong show of power to keep from
feeling powerless or overwhelmed. The trick is to center yourself in empowerment rather than simple power -- that means your power comes from within yourself rather
than from controlling people and situations outside of yourself. You might find yourself involved in power struggles or abandonment, either in the present or
stirred up from the past. You might be forced to let go of your attachment to something or someone due to circumstances beyond your control. However, this can also
be a time when you reach inside yourself and find you have more strength than you thought you did. Adversity may inspire new assertiveness and purpose in you --
empowerment born of conflict and struggle.
Mar.21 FULL MOON in LIBRA (01:31)
Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon in Libra
Libra 2
The light of the sixth race transmuted to the seventh.
This Sabian Symbol
("What's a Sabian Symbol?") refers to some very occult and esoteric concepts, which I won't pretend to fully
understand. Dane Rudhyar (An Astrological Mandala) provides a relatively accessible explanation (for a change).
In essence, Rudhyar sees this symbol as representing the centralisation of the creative process. This process arrives at the accumulation of the fruits
of our efforts, at which point it "transmutes" into something beyond itself.
This is the seed which takes the essence of the fruit that came before it, and which in turn becomes the creative power that launches the next cycle.
(The diagram above is based on one from Rudhyar's book.) This Sabian Symbol therefore represents the mysterious force by which the old is transformed into the new.
This is very fitting for the current Full Moon in Libra. The Sun and Moon form a Grand Cross with the final residue of the Mars-Pluto cycle. Viewed
through the lens of this Sabian Symbol, it tells us that we now have the opportunity to make some very significant change in our lives. We can take our experiences of the last
7 months that relate to power, autonomy, control and ambition, and allow them to become the seed of new growth and learning in the coming 9 months.
Why 9 months? Because that's how long it will take for Mars to catch up to Pluto and form the next conjunction. At that point, a new 2-year cycle will
begin. So, between now and December, the learning that we have accumulated in the last 7 months will become magically transformed from raw experience into a distilled essence
that will fuel a whole new beginning in our use of power, autonomy and strengthstarting now.
How to help that process? Work cooperatively with whatever you are experiencing now. Don't run away from it, but don't cling to it either. It's in a
state of flux and will change. Remember the wisdom, insight and realisations you have collected, and allow them to guide you. If you get lost, seek out others for their
feedback, reflections and observations, to help you get a sense of the bigger picture and the potential that is forming in your life.

Passive or active? Reactive or proactive? Peace at any price or victory at any cost? Direct force or controlled negotiation? These are
some of the questions you might need to ask yourself over the next two weeks.
Libra embraces the art of negotiating an agreement while navigating the treacherous territory between the tensions and passions
that arise between opposing or conflicting forces. The Libra Moon seeks to find the most beautiful, graceful, harmonious solution that can bring balance between all
concerned.
However, the Full Moon means that the Sun is in the opposite signin this case, the Sun in Aries. Aries doesn't have time for diplomatic
negotiation or politically correct compromise. Aries wants to just get to the point and get on with it.
So part of the challenge of this Full Moon involves the style and attitude with which you approach the conflicts, problems and obstacles
in your life right now. Part of you may want to charge on ahead and "just do it," and another part may want to go gently and try to negotiate a workable compromise
with all concerned. One part of you might feel a bit defensive or have a "short fuse," whereas another part of you wants to smooth things out and win the approval
of others.

This is part of the Grand Cross aspect configuration in the Full Moon chart Sun
opposite Moon, and Mars opposite Pluto. This is the last aspect configuration that taps into the Mars-Pluto opposition that has been with us for the last 7
months (Sep.21.2007, Jan.02.2008 and
Mar.07.2008).
The net effect of this grand finale is to challenge you to use your power and autonomy to benefit both your own personal strength and your relationships with
others. The danger is overusing this energy and swinging a hammer when a firm tap would suffice. The trick is to resist the urge to make snap decisions, as well as
fence-sitting in an effort to avoid conflict.
These planets are all in Cardinal signs, stirring up the urge to initiate new projects and be propelled forward by a new sense of
adventure, creativity, support and ambition. Therefore, let your power be focused in a new direction that allows new growth and possibilities to emerge, rather than
falling back on automatic reactions or avoiding tension.
When in doubt, call upon the highest Truth you know. Venus, the planetary ruler of the Libra Full Moon, is well-placed in Pisces
right now. There can be a risk of idealizing other people or your situation, but there is also the potential to see a vision of a more fulfilling outcome. By all
means, use a good "reality check" if you must make an important decision based on that vision of hope, but don't dismiss it just because you're afraid you might
have to adjust your plans to be more realistic. One doesn't have to erase the other. Your astrologer
can help you understand how best to balance idealistic dreams with practical action.
Mar.24 Mercury conjunct Venus (14:21 of Pisces) (Mar.25 in AU)
Social connections, diplomatic communication and receptive awareness mark this transit. It can be a great time to negotiate contracts or
agreements because the communication can usually flow easily. Focus your awareness on achieving a mutual balance between you and the other person. A win-win
solution is especially easy to achieve now -- so much so, in fact, that it might be tempting to only say what you think the other person wants to hear (which may or
may not be wise). This can also be a time of appreciating and expressing beauty, pleasure and sensuality. If there's someone you want to get closer to (in terms of
romance, friendship, business, partnership, or even an adversary!), talking gently and listening receptively can be the key that unlocks the door. You may also get
new creative ideas from your interactions with people or from observing them.
Mar.24-31 Mercury-Venus-Uranus conjunction (19 degrees of Pisces)
Open your mind and your heart to something out of the ordinary! Perhaps lightning will strike in a relationship that becomes dramatically
changed. Maybe you will be blinded by new perceptions and insight about some previously murky situation. Or you might get into some exciting forums on the Internet.
If you have any planets or points in your natal chart around 13-25 degrees of Mutable signs (Pisces, Virgo, Gemini, Sagittarius) or Water signs (Pisces, Cancer,
Scorpio), this could be a time when you make a significant breakthrough in the areas represented by the planets involved. That breakthrough could be exciting or
explosive, stressful or liberating, depending on the aspects involved and how you work with these energies. Uranus will come back and form the same aspects to your
chart in Nov. 2008 and Jan. 2009. You can find out more about how to take advantage of this transit by getting a
personal reading.
Mar.27 Mercury sextile Jupiter (19:38 of Pisces/Capricorn) (Mar.28 in AU)
You may have an abundance of ideas and words to express them under this transit. There is the potential (if you reach for it) to put
ideas, facts and thoughts together into a cohesive whole. You may find you can understand the overall patterns in a situation, or you are able to see the Big
Picture, better than usual. New insights and a change of perspective may abound, as your stream of consciousness flows abundantly with optimism and visionary
possibilities. You may find yourself more talkative than usual, as you try to share and convey the new ideas, inspiration and knowledge coming into your mind. Write
down your best ideas for later development, since you may be having too much fun now playing with ideas to want to stop and make them manifest just yet. There is a
chance that you may be so elated and confident that you might come across as a bit overbearing or even as a "know-it-all," so be sure to listen too.
Mar.27 Mercury conjunct Uranus (19:43 of Pisces) (Mar.28 in AU)
Communication and thoughts can be radical, spontaneous, unusual and uncharacteristic under this transit. You may be compelled to speak
your mind to say things you've held back from saying before now. However, as the saying goes, there is a risk of "shooting off your mouth before your brains are
loaded." It is a time when you are likely to be open-minded and flexible in your perceptions. Our eyes are wide open, and as a result, we may be a bit shocked,
surprised or stunned by what we see. This can also release our creative genius and bring inspired clarity, especially as we look to the future. Encounters with
groups, friends and the greater community are also possible at this time.
Mar.28 Venus sextile Jupiter (19:46 of Pisces/Capricorn) (Mar.29 in AU)
There is an abundance of creative inspiration, material enjoyment, feel-good pleasure in the air! Your luck and opportunity to attract
money, love, resources and self-esteem are high right now. It may be relatively easy to attract the people, possessions and opportunities you want or need, but
you'll still have to work to get them. On the other hand, your eyes may be bigger than your stomach (as mother would say) and you might be tempted to charm, flirt
or bluff your way through a situation more than usual. There may also be a tendency to self-indulgence. These are not necessarily bad things, but it's probably wise
to remember to use this energy to enhance your best judgement, not override it.
Mar.28 Venus conjunct Uranus (19:47 of Pisces) (Mar.29 in AU)
The warm receptivity of Venus can become somewhat cool, detached and unpredictable when combined with Uranus. This is a good combination
for carrying out a dispassionate strategy, or for networking with acquaintances and associates. It can also be a time when you might liberate yourself from old
connections for example, choosing to end a relationship, stepping away from an outworn friendship, or being open to experimenting with new kinds of connections
with people. It can also be a time of impulse spending, or wanting to use your resources and finances for a humanitarian purpose. Finances may become a bit
unpredictable or unstable -- either bringing income when you didn't expect it, or spending it when you may or may not have. Whether you want to liberate your own
life or someone else's, this is a time when freedom and independence become the focus of pleasure. Experimentation is also tempting, and while this can be
invigorating, it might also leave you with consequences you hadn't anticipated. Embrace your spontaneity, but don't divorce your judgment.
Mar.28 Jupiter sextile Uranus (19:47 of Capricorn/Pisces) (Mar.29 in UK, AU)
Brilliant ideas, breakthrough insights and unconventional opportunities! This is a very creative transitnot just artistically, but
especially in terms of combining ideas and possibilities in innovative ways. At its best, you could feel like unseen hands are lifting you free of hopelessness and
cynicism, opening up new potential and vision. On the other hand, you might also feel that you're being asked to live up to a lot more than you feel capable of
fulfilling; and it might feel that this vision lies just a bit farther than your reach. Allow it to unfold in its own time, and watch for opportunities to take
steps toward that vision. You don't have to give up your old depression, cynicism or pessimism all at once, but let yourself become open to a different way of
seeing things a little at a time. Let this change come to you; you don't have to force it.
This is the first of 3 passes of this transit (Mar.28, May.21, Nov.13). Its effects can be felt up to 6 weeks before and after the exact
dates. At this first pass, the Jupiter-Uranus sextile is also involved in a Little Eye aspect configuration with Chiron,
which is extremely close in orb (within a mere 19 minutes of arc). This contributes a challenge of maintaining a clear focus on your sense of vision, even though
past attitudes or beliefs might try to drag you back into old patterns. This is a good time to let go of some of those old patterns that don't feed you in a
positive way. Mercury and Venus are also conjunct Uranus right now (with Venus being a miniscule 4 minutes of arc from
Uranus). Let yourself be open in your mind and your heart to a new vision of what is possible.

Mar.29, 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM (your local time) EARTH HOUR!
(Quoted from their site: http://www.earthhour.org/)
What is Earth Hour?
Earth Hour, run by WWF, the conservation organisation, is a global climate change initiative which calls on individuals and businesses
around the world, to turn off their lights for one hour on Saturday March 29 2008 between 8 pm and 9pm.
The aim of the campaign is to express that individual action on a mass scale can help change our planet for the better. The event
itself will clearly demonstrate in participating cities, the connection between energy usage and climate change, showing that we as broader community can address
the biggest threat our planet has ever faced.
What do I need to do on the night?
The most important thing to do on the night is turn off your lights between 8pm and 9pm. There will also be events held on the night,
check back later for event updates.
Does this mean I have to turn of everything in my home and use absolutely no electricity?
Not at all. The main point of this campaign is to show people and companies how easy it is to take action to avoid global warming. This
does not mean you have to turn off your fridge, but we do encourage you to join us by switching off your lights and make a statement, as well as changing your
habits in the long term.
Isnt switching the lights off dangerous? What about public safety?
We are asking people to turn off the nonessential lights for one hour no lights that affect public safety will be turned off. We want
everyone to enjoy Earth Hour in a safe and energy efficient environment.
What candles should I use for my Earth Hour event?
If you plan on burning candles during Earth Hour, make sure you use 100% beeswax candles which are gentler on our planet smoke free,
non-toxic and non-allergenic...
Mar.30 Sun square Mars (09:58 of Aries/Cancer)
Assertiveness, aggression and intense energy burst out under this transit. This can be a time of being pushed into taking action...or it
can erupt in anger, irritation and hostility (in yourself or others). It may seem like everything pushes your buttons and rubs you the wrong way, creating conflict
and putting you on edge. You may feel the impulse to burn off this excess energy through sexual activity. If you look beneath the irritation you may see a
frustrated part of you that wants change, yet you have held back for some reason. Being pro-active and initiating steps for voluntary change is preferable, since
you will have far more control over the process than if you get pushed into a corner and forced to act. The more preplanning you've done for this moment, the more
successful you're likely to be. But if you get caught in a whirlwind of change, connect yourself to the part of you that wants change and let that ground and guide
you.
Mar.30 REMINDER: Europe changes to Daylight Time, and Australia goes back to Standard Time
European regions that observe Daylight Savings Time will turn their clocks forward one hour.
Australian regions that have been on Daylight
Savings Time will now turn their clocks one hour backwards to return to Standard Time.
For up to a week before and after this date, Pluto's energy is especially strong and intense. You might experience this in the form of
intensity, power struggles, deep psychological awareness or strong libido. You could encounter the need to face aspects of yourself or others that are disturbing or
difficult to accept. There may also be some part of yourself or your life that has fulfilled its purpose and needs to be shed like a snake's skin. Over the next 5
months (while Pluto is retrograde), you will work at loosening and letting go of that "skin," and working toward the rebirth that will come out of it. This can also
be a time when you become aware of the areas where you need to strengthen your personal empowerment or possibly need to tone down the way you wield power.
Apr.02 Mercury enters Aries (until Apr.17) (Apr.03 in AU)
Directness of speech, fast perceptions and an attitude of just do it mark this transit. While Mercury sprints through Aries, you may
feel the impulse to cut through and get to the point in conversations and other forms of communication. Body language speaks loudly now, as do actions. At its best,
this transit can help words, awareness and insight to arise spontaneously, combined with the courage to express them. On the other hand, you could also say things
out of anger, impatience or impulse that you later regret. It may be a time when you'd rather cut to the chase -- acknowledge things and move on -- rather than hang
around to process the details. It's a great time to spin ideas that can be developed later. It is also a good time to think independently and follow your thoughts
into new perspectives.
Apr.03 Mercury square Pluto (01:09 of Aries/Capricorn)
You are faced now with a challenge to empower your communication and perceptions, although this may not come easily. It could involve
having to face some rather difficult truths that might be a bit disturbing or hard to accept. However in doing so, you gain a deeper understanding and acceptance of
yourself, your situation and your role within it. Obsessive or persistent thoughts that are morbid or paranoid are possible, which could be helped by finding
something more positive to focus on or a creative outlet. Communication (from others or yourself or both) could be intense, intimidating or even downright damaging,
since it may be tempting to get caught up in power struggles and domination. But communication can also be used now to heal, by cutting through hypocrisy and
insincerity in order to reach a deeper authenticity and truth -- like lancing a boil so that healing can take place.
