For the New
Moon in Pisces and Full Moon in Virgo: February 24 to March 26,
2009
Feb.24
NEW MOON in PISCES (06:35 of Pisces)
The search for a higher purpose is a
tricky mission. In order to imagine something better, something
more special, something more pure... you have to go a little on
faith. You have to stretch your mind beyond the bounds of what
is logical. And you have to suspend your disbelief just a bit,
enough to see past the brick wall of what
is, so you can envision what could
be.
Yet, there is a delicate balance point
between what is and
what could be. Tilt too much in
either direction and the opposite side begins to look
meaningless or absurd. Maintain a balance between them, and the
combination can harmonize the magical with the real and the
sublime with the mundane.
In Pisces (the sign of the
current New Moon), when we drift too far into the magical realm,
we can lose touch with reality. This might feel enchanting and
delightful for a while, but because we still live in a physical
dimension we are bound to crash into reality if we're not paying
attention. Like Icarus whose wings
melted when he flew too close to the Sun and fell to his death
in the sea, there is only so far we can go beyond the bounds of
the physical world before we risk getting into trouble with it.
So how do you reach into the Piscean
world without losing your bearings? How do you dive into the
ocean of intuition, imagination and spiritual surrender without
drowning in it? How do you aspire to a higher purpose in life
without your wings melting? The New Moon chart offers hints and
clues about resources that can help us do just that.
The Sun-Moon conjunction
(that's what a New Moon is) has only one major aspect in the
chart, which is a sextile aspect to Pluto in earthy
Capricorn. This suggests that empowerment on a practical level
can provide a sturdy container into which we may pour our
longing for higher purpose. In other words, take care of your
practical needs first healthy food, sufficient sleep, pacing
yourself and dealing with important matters (preferably before
they become crises). Then you will have the inner and outer
strength to sustain your quest for greater meaning.
Saturn is still the "handle" of
the chart. It's off by itself on one side, while all the other
planets are clustered rather tightly within 4 signs. Once again,
this gives Saturn (planetary ruler of Capricorn) a starring role
throughout the New Moon cycle (including conjoining the Full
Moon on Mar.10but more about that in the next update). Saturn's
prominence places even more emphasis on the need to keep one
foot planted firmly on realistic ground. When Saturn's happy,
the rest of the chart is more likely to be happy too.
On the other hand, the ongoing
Stellium in Aquarius ("What's a Stellium?")
continues to upstage almost everything else in the solar system.
Not only are there five, count 'em, FIVE planets currently in
Aquarius, but two of them are the traditional and modern
planetary rulers of Pisces: Jupiter and Neptune. So back we go
to Aquarius again, as we have for the last two lunar cycles, to
discover the source of energy that is driving us. But this time,
it's combined with Pisces.
If Pisces is about surrendering
to the spiritual Universe, then Aquarius is about uniting
with the human collective. As Pisces is about intuitive
imagination, Aquarius is about creative genius. Like any
two signs that are next door neighbours, they have a lot in
common but they take these similar energies in slightly but
significantly different directions. Pisces has a mission
to reach an intangible level of existence that is ultimately
ethereal and unknowable: "The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao...
" Aquarius has an agenda to break free of the bounds of
conventional knowledge and experience, yet still keeping the
umbilical cord to "this world" intact enough that humanity can
benefit from what is discovered. Similar, yet different.
Side note about the Age of Aquarius:
Mars and Jupiter conjoin roughly every 2 years, and they do so in Aquarius as often as every 11 years. Since each
astrological Age lasts roughly 2000 years, with a transitional period of a few hundred years, such a frequent
conjunction does not signal the beginning of the Age of Aquarius. The question of when this Age begins is a
topic for a much more complex article which I would love to write if I can just find about 60 more hours in the day...
:-)
Part of the stellium in Aquarius is a
conjunction of Mercury, Mars and Jupiter. The song Age of Aquarius
says: "When the Moon is in the 7th House, and Jupiter
aligns with Mars, then peace will guide the planets and love
will steer the stars." When Mars and Jupiter join forces, we
have the potential for the strength and empowerment of Mars
combined with the mercy and wisdom of Jupiter. Put Mercury into
the mix and this powerful energy is channeled through our
thoughts, words and perceptions.
That's when the energy is working
well, but we don't always use energy to our highest potential.
When Mars in Aquarius isn't operating at its best, it can become
defensive, hostile, erratic or rebellious. Jupiter can amplify
this and add a spin of blame, judgment or dogmatism or worse,
tap into the elitism of the group: "WE have the answer, which
means you don't." Mercury then gives this a voice, sometimes
speaking out too abruptly, insensitively or prematurely, or
perhaps simply shaping our perceptions in these ways.
Then there's Chiron and Neptune,
as they gradually approach conjunction. There is only one exact
pass of the conjunction: Feb.17.2010. However, they station
retrograde just minutes from each other in May of this year, and
they station direct mere minutes from each other in November
2010. So there are virtually three passes of this transit, with
a long, slow approach and separation for a few years before and
after.
Chiron and Neptune are a complex pair.
Neptune is ambiguous at the best of times, since our experience
of it can be so intangible and indistinct. Chiron, the "wounded
healer," is about walking a fine line between creaturehood and
divinity, between limitations and potential, and between pain
and transcendence. This conjunction happens very rarely; the
last time was 1945, and the time before that was 1880. The next
time will be 2094.
Chiron-Neptune can bring sublime
healing at its best, or seemingly bottomless suffering at its
worst. The thing with Chiron is that these experiences often go
hand-in-hand. It is through our struggling that we gain a kind
of healing or reconciliation that may not solve the problem the
way that we'd hoped, but it gives us a gift of wisdom that often
couldn't come to us any other way. However, Neptune can hold a
trap in which suffering becomes its own end. Don't get stuck in
a martyr mentality.
At its best, I think Chiron-Neptune is
finding peace and acceptance, not simply despite our limitations
and human imperfections, but perhaps even because of them. If
acceptance and redemption come only through flawlessness, then
they will always be unattainable and we will always feel we are
doomed to failure and shame. Chiron-Neptune brings a dual
message that we are less than perfect AND that we are enough in
the eyes of the Universe. When you doubt this, reach out to
someone who can help remind you of how wonderful you are, how
precious you are, and the ways you are an irreplaceable part of
the world.
As you scan the skies for a higher
purpose during this lunar cycle, remember that we only see as
far as our own horizon but that horizon is not the end of all
there is. A whole world lies beyond the territory that is
familiar to us. The Aquarius initiative seeks to expand that
territory to include the people, places and perspectives that
have been marginalized or rejected. The Pisces mission is to
recognize, cherish and revere All That Is, and in so doing,
break through the barriers that keep us separate and alien from
each other, from all of life and from ourselves. A
personal reading can
show you how to embrace this Aquarius-Pisces energy.
Feb.25 Mercury sextile Venus (14:00
of Aquarius/Aries) (Feb.26 in UK, AU)
There is a potential to benefit from
social connections, diplomatic communication and receptive
awareness during this transit, although a certain amount of
effort is needed to make this happen. It can be a good time for
negotiating contracts and other agreements, especially if you
consciously focus your intent on achieving balance with your
counterpart, partner or opponent that results in a win-win
situation for all concerned. There is also potential to
appreciate and express beauty, pleasure and sensuality. If
there's someone in your life that you want to get closer to, try
speaking gently and listening receptively, which can be the key
that opens the door to harmonious interaction. Creative ideas
can also find expression now if you apply your conscious
awareness to bring them into focus. The thing to watch for is a
tendency to use manipulation to achieve an advantage, which
might be done by you or to you. Keep communication
straightforward and clear, and find diplomatic ways to deal with
manipulation if you sense it happening.
Mar.01 Mercury Direct conjunct Mars
(19:49 of Aquarius) (Mar.02 in UK, AU)
Spontaneous or impulsive words may
come flying out of your mouth under this transit! If you've been
struggling to keep opinions or observations to yourself, you
might find it hard to keep them quiet, especially if you feel
strongly about the situation. You might see things as more "cut
and dried" than usual. Although you might feel frustrated if
things don't happen in a direct, quick, straightforward way, it
can also be a good time to make decisions and move forward with
plans. On one hand, this can have a positive effect because it
can give you courage to speak your mind and assert yourself
candidly and honestly. On the other hand, you might also come
across as abrupt, cranky, argumentative or even downright
hostile, especially if you've been stuffing down anger or
resentment for a while. This transit represents a new beginning
in how you can handle self-assertiveness, communication and
decision-making. By "listening to" your impulses, passions and
urge to speak your truth, you can get an idea how your "inner
voice" wants to emerge -- and how to do that without
annihilating the other person. ;-)
This is the last of 3 passes of
this transit:
Nov.28.2008,
Jan.27.2009 and Mar.01.
What is even more interesting is that each conjunction took
place in a different sign: Sagittarius in November and Capricorn
in January. This time, Mercury and Mars join Jupiter, Chiron and
Neptune in Aquarius. The archetypal sequence is significant: In
Sagittarius there was idealism and the quest for truth (by
force, if necessary!). In Capricorn, there was practical
application and the confrontation of limitations. In Aquarius,
there is release, freedom and spontaneity (possibly to the point
of erratic, impulsive or explosive). We went from a moral agenda
to following the rules, to the freedom to act because it's the
right thing to do in the moment. And we've gone from reaching
out toward a higher purpose, to becoming part of a larger
structure, to breaking out and becoming part of the greater
collective. Let the energy move you through spontaneity, but
it's probably best to avoid swinging between extremes or trying
to force the issue.
Mar.03 Mercury conjunct Chiron
(22:43 of Aquarius) (Mar.04 in UK, AU)
Words can wound, but they can also
heal. This transit may bring new awareness of the ways that you
need to heal...and perhaps also the ways that you wound yourself
or others, especially through thoughts, words and attitudes. You
might become aware of harming yourself through negative
self-talk or harsh self-criticism. Or, you might expect rigid
perfection of yourself and forget that you are a
multi-dimensional being who is, by your human nature,
inconsistent and fallible. Your mental focus or attitude might
have a sharp edge to it that is harsh, or you may encounter
harsh attitudes from someone else that are hurtful, perhaps
without meaning to be. Words and thoughts can be powerful tools.
By reframing the message or situation in a different way, it is
possible to turn hurt into healing and ignorance into wisdom.
For example, it may help to eliminate either-or thinking by
accepting that paradoxes and contradictions exist and may not
have to be fully resolved for you to find a workable balance
within them. By adopting a bit of a philosophical attitude, you
may find it takes some of the pressure off the need for
everything to fit together perfectly, which can leave some
breathing room for everyone involved to be human.
Mar.05 Mercury conjunct Neptune
(24:43 of Aquarius)
The imagination soars under this
transit! Possibilities seem richer, insights appear more magical
and creativity flows like liquid honey. Your intuition is likely
to be more fluid, and you may even have psychic experiences.
Dreams may be more vivid and active, including daydreams. You
may feel a need for quiet meditation or just being alone with
your own thoughts. Your mental focus may seem a bit blurred,
although in the outer edges you may catch a glimpse of ideas and
possibilities that you don't ordinarily notice. It can be an
inspiring time if you are involved in creative activities, like
artwork, music, writing and other creative forms of
communication and self-expression. This is a time when your
"Right Brain" (intuitive, creative, non-rational) may be very
active. In fact, it might be a bit difficult to bring a sharp
focus to your "Left Brain" (logical, rational, realistic). Your
judgment and ability to be objective may be off, and you could
be more prone to wishful thinking and flights of fantasy. If
you're making an important decision now, it may be wise to do a
reality check with a trusted friend before you commit yourself.
Mar.05 Mars conjunct Chiron (22:51
of Aquarius) (Mar.06 in UK, AU)
There is a lot of potential for both
healing and harm under this transit. The forcefulness of Mars is
like a surgeon's scalpel that can heal by cutting through
resistance, lethargy, pain or denial -- but could also be a
knife that causes damage when not used with precision and care.
The healing aspect of this energy can bring some relief to
chronic or persistent problems, but if inflicted with anger,
hostility or insensitivity it could just aggravate those
problems. Physical energy could be affected by this transit,
either beginning a new approach that can bring improved
strength, or by depleting your energy through physical,
emotional or spiritual malaise. You might feel a bit discouraged
or powerless...or you might start to see a light at the end of
the tunnel that you can start to move toward. This is the
beginning of a new cycle of working with these combined
energies, which lasts about 2 years. To participate with
positive intention in this initiation, it can help to observe
what conflicts, problems or struggles come up around this time,
since there is something about these issues that will unfold and
develop over the next two years.

For up to a week or more before and
after this date, you may experience intense energy in the areas
of relationships, finances, beauty, self-worth and harmony.
Similar to Mercury retrograde, Venus retrograde is a time when
we go back over the same ground we just came through in order to
refine, polish and adjust the affected areas in our lives.
Venus retrograde can be a time when
latent problems in relationships (all kinds, not just romantic)
become outright conflicts. Or, previous ongoing conflicts may
take a rest and go underground for a while, as everyone regroups
and reassesses what is important to them. If you have been
keeping the peace at any price, this could be a time when that
peace suddenly falls apart and you are faced with having to deal
with old unresolved problems.
Finances also can shift direction.
Income and resources might become somewhat scarce, forcing you
to let go of or rethink your material focus. Or, you might find
your material resources booming ...possibly along with your
spending. Issues about personal appearance, fashion, beauty and
charm may also become conspicuous by their absence or by their
sudden importance. In general, it is a time to examine your
value system and decide whether the people and things that you
have cherished still hold the same high priority for you, as
well as whether you are truly living according to your values.
With Venus retrograde in Aries, you
might feel especially adventurous, frisky, flirty or playful.
Or, you might feel an uncharacteristic absence of these and
instead feel anger, hostility or lack of empathy. Impulse
spending could be a problem, or you might also become very
focused and single-minded about going after the object of your
desires (be they human, material or otherwise).
Mar.08, 2:00 AM (local time)
Daylight Savings Time begins in Canada, USA (until Nov.01)
Most areas of Canada and the US (and
some other areas of the world) turn their clocks forward one
hour. (UK and Europe change on Mar.29. Check your region or country.)
Mar.08 Mars conjunct Neptune (24:49
of Aquarius)
This can be a strange time of
lethargic confusion or uplifting inspiration or both! On one
hand, you might feel very motivated by creative and spiritual
inspiration, as new possibilities seem to appear magically in
your imagination. On the other hand, you may feel a bit like
you've lost your "edge," where your focused energy feels blunted
or blurred. Direct action may not be possible, easy or
effective, and as a result it could be easy to lapse into
feeling a bit powerless, lethargic or discouraged. You may have
to act on faith instead of fact; and whether this is a "good" or
"bad" experience will largely depend on how comfortable you are
with ambiguity. This transit initiates a new cycle of working
with these themes that lasts about 2 years. The events and
issues that come up now likely have more to them than you see on
the surface, and the deeper levels will unfold and develop
throughout the coming cycle.
Mar.08 Mercury enters Pisces (until
Mar.25) (Mar.09 in AU)
Imagination, dreams, creativity and
intuition are more easily accessible while Mercury floats
through Pisces. You may be more impressionable, appreciative and
open to ideas that previously had seemed improbable, unrealistic
or silly. This is a good transit for any creative work --
writing, music, artistic projects, or just putting ideas
together in new ways. Problem solving could benefit now, because
it may be easier to think beyond the limiting boundaries of the
situation. On the other hand, it might also be easier to become
caught in confusion, ambiguity or ambivalence, since the sharp
edges of definition may be easily blurred or distorted. This is
a time when the "Right Brain" -- the intuitive, creative and
non-rational side of the mind -- can be more active. As a
result, meditation, dreams and daydreams may be more accessible.
Unfortunately, illusion and deception might also be more
convincing and enticing, since critical and objective thinking
could be a bit harder to maintain. You might also experience
some mental lethargy and need to give your mind a rest. Try
going to a movie, or read an entertaining novel, or spend some
quality "alone time" with yourself. Or, take a long walk in a
park or by a body of water, where you can enjoy the luxury of
just appreciating nature and "being" instead of "doing." Some
harmless or entertaining escapism can be a great way to give
yourself a mental vacation -- just dont get stuck there.
Explorations of spiritual experience and thought can also bring
new insights and inspiration under this transit.
Mar.08 Sun opposite Saturn (18.22 of
Pisces/Virgo)
You may be obligated to fulfil the
expectations of others or of society under this transit. A
situation or project (which may have begun around 6 months ago)
might require that you start to implement the plans and
preparation you've been building. Or you might find that
problems you've been putting off must now be dealt with.
Although you could experience this as stressful or heavy, it can
also be a time when you are finally able to move ahead with a
project or goal. All commitment requires some degree of
limitation and pruning back, since we must choose one path and
leave other options behind. This may therefore feel like a time
when you are pressured by obligation, necessity or
restraint...or it could feel like the rehearsals are finally
over and it's time to launch the rocket. If it seems like you're
only seeing blocks or obstacles in your way, this might be a
reflection of not having done enough preparation (in which case
you will need to draw on your experience to solve the problems
or deal with the reality in front of you). This can be a time
when you reap whatever you have sown in the past (especially the
last 6 months), so if your current situation seems negative or
punitive, it might be a time when you need to look back over
your actions that lead to this and be accountable for past
actions and decisions. Whether you are taking the final step to
implement your plans or are facing the results of poor past
judgment, this can be a time when you are called upon to move
forward in your personal growth and maturation. Use it to
strengthen your responsibility (response-ability), and don't let
fears of inadequacy erode your self-esteem.
Mar.10 Mercury sextile Pluto (03:08
of Pisces/Capricorn) (Mar.11 in AU)
Penetrating insights and passionate
communication are possible under this transit ...although, so is
speaking more forcefully than you intend to about things that
require a bit of delicacy or discretion. It is also a time when
your mental concentration can come together so easily that you
become obsessed. You may prefer in-depth discussion to
small-talk, and it might feel awkward if you aren't able to
explore the depths in your interaction or communication with
others. However, you likely have an increased ability to pick up
on undercurrents of what's happening around you. This is also a
time when you can start to shed and leave behind old worn out
perceptions and ways of communicating. You also have an
increased ability to take thoughts, ideas and information and
transform them into something healing ...or wounding. Choose
your words carefully and mindfully. Writing down your thoughts
and ideas to capture the energy of this transit can help you
gather the deeper qualities.

Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon
in Virgo
Virgo 21
A girl's basketball team.
Not being a sports person myself, I might
misinterpret this symbol, but here goes... For starters, what a perfect
image of feminine Venus in athletic Aries! This Sabian Symbol
("What's a Sabian Symbol?")
also shows a wonderful example of the macrocosm (the whole) and the
microcosm (the detail).
A basketball team (and perhaps any sports team)
requires a delicate and active balance between the actions of individual
members and the necessity for all these actions to be coordinated together.
This image might reflect your own impulses, needs,
actions or thoughts that must pull in roughly the same direction, or risk
becoming erratic, confused or just plain worn out. Or it might suggest a
situation in your life where the forces of order and predictability are at
odds with the drive to break free of convention and limitation.
The basketball player must take her best shot when
she sees the opportunity, but for best results must also work cooperatively
with other players. The team must synchronize and structure their efforts in
order to stabilize the chaos of the fast-moving game. However, too much
stability becomes a liability that makes them vulnerable to the spontaneous
actions of the other team.
The individual players must have the freedom to take
the initiative when the time is right; indeed, surprise is often a key part
of winning the game. Yet, too much individuality will disrupt the collective
flow of the team's efforts.
However this image is echoed in your life, your best
bet may be to cheer for both teams rather than to choose sides.

Mar.10 FULL MOON in VIRGO (20:39)
Virgo's essence can perhaps be
defined as the ability to take the amorphous vastness of life
and organize it so that it can be engaged and embraced in a
useful, substantial way. It's not a question of turning life
into a utility to be manipulated, so much as an instrument that
allows us to maneuver through the ambiguity of our vast
universe. It's not just about getting the job done; it's about
doing something that enables us to be part of a larger purpose.
On the other side of the universe from
Virgo is Pisces. Both Virgo and Pisces ask much the same cosmic
question: How do you deal with a universe that is infinite? With
life being so huge, overwhelming and immeasurable, what is the
best way to approach it?
There are only two ways you can go
with a dilemma like that: you take a step back into the
macrocosm and focus on the totality and the oneness, or you move
closer into the microcosm to acknowledge and understand all the
tiny bits that make up the whole.
Pisces sees the universe like a
vast ocean that one can only surrender to. You merge with it,
melt into it and experience it with the whole of your being.
There is no real boundary between yourself and the Universe: you
are it and it is you. What else is there to do but become as
fluid and boundless as it is? Go with the flow and trust that
there is an omnipotent sentience that will take you where you
need to go.
Virgo takes a very different
approach: if the universe is made up of infinite tiny bits, then
there's no time to waste in discovering each one and how it
relates to the other bits and to the whole. You can't just take
inventory, though. It's not about counting; it's about why and
how it counts. How does this bit relate to and influence the
other bits? Organization is required to tackle this enormous
job, and analysis is used to make sense of it all.
The Full Moon in Virgo is
actually a combination of the Moon in Virgo and the Sun in
Pisces. We are given the polarity of both sides of the cosmic
coin to mediate between them and bring them into balance and
harmony.
If only it were that simple!
Adding to the complexity and depth of
this challenge are Saturn and Uranus which are still in
opposition since their first two exact passes (Nov.04.2008,
Feb.05.2009). The Sun-Moon opposition (in other words, the Full
Moon axis) conjoins the Saturn-Uranus opposition. The
Moon is conjunct Saturn in Virgo, and the Sun is conjunct Uranus
in Pisces.
So: Pisces isn't merely a vast
ocean of flowing experiencewith Uranus it becomes a chaotic yet
liberating encounter with that universal oneness, which emerges
from a lack of definition and structure. And Virgo isn't
just the organization and analysis of the molecular detailswith
Saturn it becomes the process by which order and structure are
forged out of the fundamental turmoil.
The Saturn-Uranus opposition
challenges us with extreme conditions, so that we may learn how
to find a new balance point between those extremes. It takes
spiritual and emotional strength to resist the urge to fall to
one side or the other when faced with a dilemma.
Some of us go into lockdown, where we
impose rules or control tactics to try and limit the number of
possibilities that could happen. This can simplify our lives and
make them more manageable, but we can suffocate emotionally and
spiritually in that small space while we wait for the storm to
blow over. And we can get used to being in there, since it lets
us avoid dealing with a lot of other stresses too.
Others among us throw up our hands in
exasperation, abdicate any attempt at control and resign
ourselves to watching the chips fall where they may. This is
where we give up trying to have any influence over what's
happening, which can release us from the tyranny of worry and
stress and help us go with the flow. But taken to the extreme,
it can become reckless, invite needless damage, and make us like
children who are dependent on outside forces to provide what we
need.
The idea is to explore and discover
new ways to take the best of each extreme and bring them
together in productive and fulfilling ways. With such
conflicting energies to juggle, this is not likely to be a
straightforward or quick process.
This Full Moon is like a checkpoint
that will reflect and channel your direction through the next
two weeks of that learning process. During this time, there are
likely to be two difficult areas. One is to determine how much
detail, regulation, control and structure is too much, so that
you're choking the flow and freedom necessary to allow change.
The other is in becoming aware of times when letting go and
allowing the universe to guide you are in fact times when you
become lazy, reckless or defiantly contrary. In other words: how
much of either extreme is too much and is in fact leading you
astray?

Saturn-Uranus opposition is affecting you personally, I'm

Adding another interesting spin is
Venus Retrograde which started just
four days ago. You might
feel the urge to throw off the bonds of responsibility or
predictability by giving in to impulsive desires. This could
have the effect of loosening the shell that you are too tightly
enclosed by, which could be just the thing you need to get
yourself moving again. On the other hand, too much of a good
thing could lead, for example, to a credit card balance that
will have to be dealt with after the spending spree is over. Or
you might fall a bit too quickly into a relationship or sexual
encounter, and then wake up the next morning going, "Whatever
possessed me??" Again, the idea is to balance movement with
stability, freedom with responsibility and liberation with being
able to live with the consequences.
Mar.11 Venus sextile Jupiter (14:58
of Aries/Aquarius)
There is an abundance of creative
inspiration, material enjoyment, feel-good pleasure in the air!
Your luck and opportunity to attract money, love, resources and
self-esteem are high right now. It may be relatively easy to
attract the people, possessions and opportunities you want or
need, but you'll still have to work to get them. On the other
hand, your eyes may be bigger than your stomach (as mother would
say) and you might be tempted to charm, flirt or bluff your way
through a situation more than usual. There may also be a
tendency to self-indulgence. These are not necessarily bad
things, but it's probably wise to remember to use this energy to
enhance your best judgement, not override it.
Mar.12 Sun conjunct Uranus (22:36 of
Pisces) (Mar.13 in UK, AU)
Spontaneity, surprises and "flying by
the seat of your pants" characterize this transit. You are more
open than usual to new experiences and open-minded to new
perspectives. Your sense of humour and fun are finely tuned and
may spring up unexpectedly and irreverently. It is more possible
to break free of old habits and getting out of a rut you have
been in. In fact, you may find it is fun to try doing something
completely out of character...so much so that it's wise to be
careful not to be too reckless under this transit. Have fun
pushing the envelope, but try not to rip or shred that envelope.
On the other hand, that might be the only way you can get out of
a restrictive situation that's holding you back, and this
transit could give you the impulsive courage to do just that.
Your creativity may come in bursts and in unexpected ways, so
try to take advantage of them when they present themselves or
else write down your inspiration for future consideration.
Mar.14 Mars enters Pisces (until
Apr.22) (Mar.15 in UK, AU)
Mars in Pisces can feel like you're
boxing with a cloud. Your motives and actions may seem to be led
in some direction, rather than you consciously choosing what to
do. Expressing anger or taking an assertive stand may easily
lose its impact. Emotions and motives that are normally focused
can become blurred in a fog of indecision and ambiguity.
However, you may also be able to connect more easily to
spiritual, intuitive, artistic and creative energy. Listen to
your body and observe your spontaneous actions -- what would
they mean if you were having a dream? These things can give you
clues about unconscious motives, feelings and perceptions (about
yourself or others). In a way, you are more connected to the
twilight spaces between worlds, which can make it hard to feel
powerful or effective in the "real" world. It can therefore be
tempting to slip into a kind of "victim mentality." Or, you
might feel despondent, apathetic or kind of "spacey." It can
help to do things that feed your spirit without needing to pump
yourself up artificially.
Mar.18 Mercury opposite Saturn
(17:22 of Pisces/Virgo) (Mar.19 in UK, AU)
The time has come to face facts. There
may be a reality in your life that you've been avoiding, and you
need to accept and deal with it. Or, you might have to conform
to the expectations of others because there's no other way
around it. Or, you could find that your ability to communicate,
say what you want to say, or get your point across is harder for
a few days. This will pass, but there may be concrete reasons
why this might not be the best time to communicate whatever is
on your mind. You might feel a bit as if you're being tested,
and in some way this could be true. This transit may bring an
opportunity to see how much you really know and how skilled you
are at using that knowledge. On the other hand, this could be a
time when hard work and preparation that you've done for several
months could pay off. You may be able to progress to the next
step in a project, or to make plans in an organised, concrete
and responsible way. For a few days, taking a structured,
methodical or factual approach to whatever you're doing may
produce the best results.
Mar.19 Mars sextile Pluto (03:13 of
Pisces/Capricorn)
This can be a time of intense and
powerful energy. It can be especially so if you focus your
intention to tap into and use this energy deliberately, although
if you are triggered into a reaction you might find it is more
forceful than you intended. This can be a good time to make
changes that have far-reaching, transformative effects. Your
powers of persuasion can be stronger now, so be careful you
don't try to force things to the point of making something
happen that perhaps should be left alone or treated with a
gentler touch. Sex and other passionate urges may rise more
easily now, although obsession and the need to control your
surroundings might come up with them. This transit is perhaps
best used to refresh your sense of passion and transform your
sense of purpose and direction.
Mar.20 EQUINOX Sun enters Aries
(until Apr.19)
Happy Solar Return to everyone born in
the sign of Aries! This is the Vernal Equinox -- the time when
day and night are of equal length. In the northern hemisphere,
this marks the beginning of Spring, as the light increases. In
the southern hemisphere, it is the start of Fall, as the light
decreases. While the Sun is in Aries, it is a time when all of
us (not just those born under the sign of Aries) have the
opportunity to experience our Aries nature. The archetype of
that nature is like the pure life force that is contained in a
single seed. A seed is the residue of a previous cycle of growth
-- both its resulting harvest and its unfinished business. The
Aries energy is about our use of that raw life force within our
personal expression of that energy. It manifests in
assertiveness, courage, risk-taking, directness, initiative, our
sex drive, and the pioneering spirit. It can also emerge as
aggression, pushiness, violence, anger, recklessness and
self-absorption. The same forceful energy that can fuel damage
and single-minded egotism is the same energy that, applied in a
different way, is also essential for self-validation, confidence
and the drive to make things happen. While the Sun is in Aries,
we all have the opportunity to explore how we use this energy in
our lives and whether we want to change this. Here are some
suggestions about how to explore your Aries nature: Is there
something new you want to start in your life? What activities do
you want to begin that youve never done before? What will give
you the courage and confidence to bring these into your life? If
it is not possible to do this, or if you encounter delays, how
do you deal with your frustration? Do anger and frustration
motivate you to take action, or do these emotions tend to
overwhelm and inhibit you? How do you express your anger, and
does this clear the air or just create more problems? Use this
time to explore these and related areas.
Mar.22 Mercury conjunct Uranus
(23:07 of Pisces)
Communication and thoughts can be
radical, spontaneous, unusual and uncharacteristic under this
transit. You may be compelled to speak your mind to say things
you've held back from saying before now. However, as the saying
goes, there is a risk of "shooting off your mouth before your
brains are loaded." It is a time when you are likely to be
open-minded and flexible in your perceptions. Our eyes are wide
open, and as a result, we may be a bit shocked, surprised or
stunned by what we see. This can also release our creative
genius and bring inspired clarity, especially as we look to the
future. Encounters with groups, friends and the greater
community are also possible at this time.
Mar.23 Sun square Pluto (03:15 of
Aries/Capricorn) (Mar.24 in AU)
This can be a challenging time, when
your sense of purpose, identity and direction may feel blocked,
overpowered or regulated by forces beyond your control. You may
find yourself confronted by difficult situations or people,
requiring that you rally an unusually strong show of power to
keep from feeling powerless or overwhelmed. The trick is to
center yourself in empowerment rather than simple power -- that
means your power comes from within yourself rather than from
controlling people and situations outside of yourself. You might
find yourself involved in power struggles or abandonment, either
in the present or stirred up from the past. You might be forced
to let go of your attachment to something or someone due to
circumstances beyond your control. However, this can also be a
time when you reach inside yourself and find you have more
strength than you thought you did. Adversity may inspire new
assertiveness and purpose in you -- empowerment born of conflict
and struggle.
Mar.25 Mercury enters Aries (until
Apr.09) (Mar.26 in AU)
Directness of speech, fast perceptions
and an attitude of just do it mark this transit. While Mercury
sprints through Aries, you may feel the impulse to cut through
and get to the point in conversations and other forms of
communication. Body language speaks loudly now, as do actions.
At its best, this transit can help words, awareness and insight
to arise spontaneously, combined with the courage to express
them. On the other hand, you could also say things out of anger,
impatience or impulse that you later regret. It may be a time
when you'd rather cut to the chase -- acknowledge things and
move on -- rather than hang around to process the details. It's
a great time to spin ideas that can be developed later. It is
also a good time to think independently and follow your thoughts
into new perspectives.
