Dearest Readers: Due to the passing of a member of my family, I am continuing to take a bit of a break, although I hope to be back soon. With Sagittarius comes the theme of belief, standing in opposition to the rational and investigation of its opposite, Gemini.

And so today, we suspend rational and investigation.

We quiet the curious mind and surrender to what is beyond the mind.

It is interesting to note the Sagittarius season that falls at this time of year in the Northern hemisphere. The cold has set in, the plants have long since died, and we are spiraling into the darkest day of the year.

There is a level of acceptance that happens during the Sagittarius season that emerges from the rupturing change of Scorpio season. The deep wells have been stirred, death and the underworld have been embraced, and now we can find comfort at the bottom of those deep wells.

And it is here that we learn to believe.

From the deepest and the darkest place, an experience void of birth and light, we find our higher vision. This is the beautiful paradox and cycle of universal law.

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.
~ Audrey Hepburn

The Moon meets the Sun at zero degrees of Sagittarius, the second in a series of three New Moons in a row that occur at zero degrees of the new sign (last month the New Moon was zero degrees of Scorpio, and next month it will be zero degrees of Capricorn). All New Moons are opportunities to set intentions for change, as the darkness of the Moon offers us a dark and empty bowl that is waiting for us to fill it with choice and possibility.

Similarly, the first degree of a sign bears the strongest mark of newness because it is the first expression of that archetype. It has the most cardinal energy, to be able to shift away from the sign that is ending. So a New Moon that occurs at zero degrees leaves a portal wide open to create real change in that area of your life.

Still further, three of these Moons are occurring in a row, and we are now at the heart of them. This is truly an auspicious time. If you know where zero degrees of Sagittarius falls in your chart, this is an opportunity to choose how you would like that area to unfold in the next year of your life. If you dont know where this degree is in your chart, think about what you believe in and your vision for the future of how things could be.

With this Moon approaching Venus, some of us may find that it is love and beauty we most believe in. After all, there is nothing in this vast entropic universe if not love. But Venus is not just about love and beauty. She can leave us gutted with burning desire, can struggle with the endless needs of the ego, and can expose the corrupt underbelly of our social sphere. She exists in relationship. And what we are learning from this season is that there is no vision if not from the bottom darkness of the well; in relationship, in love, in society exist all these many seemingly disparate qualities together.

The Moon, Sun, and Venus are also all squaring Neptune on this New Moon. Many of us will struggle to discern what we think, feel, hope, want, need, and aspire to separate from the people around us or society as a whole. Many of us may not even know the answer to the question "What do you believe in?" let alone having the space to implement change in the world through these beliefs.

I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
~ Marilyn Monroe

Be aware of the temptation to get lost in someone elses convincing perspective, to pull the wool over your eyes and shy away from speaking up. Be aware of the fears that are surfacing around even letting yourself dream about how things could be, from the simple pain of acknowledging how things actually are. For it will be very hard to trust that things can, in fact, be different, when you are only just starting to realize how difficult they are.

Some of us may still hold aversion to admitting our own pain, suffering, and sensitivity. We may spend a lot of time and effort blocking it out and trying to create barriers. Or some of us may spend a lot of time and effort trying to save the world and every tiny organism in it, causing more suffering to ourselves from overextension and altruism.

Neither of these approaches are sustainable. So you must hold the very real but very delicate balance between admitting and accepting that you are sensitive, and are therefore affected by everything that is difficult around you on both a personal and global scale.

It is also important that you trust your ability to do things differently, that the rest of the world is able to do things differently, and that if you keep holding that future-oriented vision in line with an understanding of what is, at some point they may meet. If you admit how you feel, it doesnt mean you can never have what you want, though these may seemingly conflict.

If I had an hour to solve a problem I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes thinking about solutions.
~ Albert Einstein

In mythology, Sagittarius is the archer. Just like Chiron, this archetype has the lower body of a horse and the higher body of an archer. This is an important image to hold on the New Moon because we often sacrifice the animal body for the higher vision of the archer. Sagittarius cannot travel through the world of form without its animal body, for the vision would be just that; an idea, a concept, lost without the possibility of being brought down into sensual reality.

Venus will help you fuel your desire, and Neptune will support your vision, but you may tend to get lost in both of them, disconnected from reality, or too many steps ahead of yourself. Dont lose sight of your animal body travelling the ground and the world in which you intend to bring these dreams.

Recall the image of sitting at the bottom of Scorpios expertly dug well and looking up to the dwindling light to find the vision of Sagittarius. Herein lies the exercise and the intention for this New Moon, to find your vision through the darkness of your own experience, rather than trying to lift yourself out of the darkness and to seek the solution elsewhere.

In the struggle lies the solution. Otherwise, with Sagittarius, we can become fractured and disjointed. There is nothing to fear in your own sensitivity and depth of feeling. Rather, if you can ride the horse towards it rather than away from it, you will find your way into newness, into the expression of your own desires, into love.

Dont leave your animal body hidden at the bottom of the well. Dive into it, dive deeper, and from that place of tenderness, emotion, and perhaps fear, look to the light and hold the vision.

In a month, Saturn will enter Sagittarius, and we will all have a chance to take more responsibility for these new ideas. We will be able to give structure, weight, and longevity to the vision. But for now it is enough to hold it. For now it is enough to know the mixture of our own beings.

Listen for your own voice amidst the din of the world, the sense of what is right or wrong, and the impositions of others. And let yourself run wild on the horse while the light is still fading, while we spiral deeper into the struggle for growth and enlightenment, and while we wait for that delicate moment when we have hoped so long and hard that it begins to eclipse all despair.

The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, nor to worry about the future, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.
~ Gautama Buddha

Nov.22 – Mercury square Jupiter (22:13 of Scorpio/Leo)  (Nov.23 in AST, NST, UK, AU)

You may be seeing the weak links in your knowledge, understanding or beliefs right now. Your ideas and words might seem to fall short of what your mind envisions, or you might be unable to convince others of your point of view. As a result, it can be tempting to over-compensate with more self-confidence, faith or optimism than you actually have. Or, you might give out "too much information" by over-explaining or through nervous rambling. Alternatively, you might encounter someone else who does this and perhaps have a blaming or judgmental reaction to them. This is an opportunity to learn something about how you might jump to conclusions or blame, possibly triggered by a situation that challenges your beliefs, opinions or perspective. To learn more about this part of yourself, try taking some time to think about what is really bothering you or what you really need to say in that situation. There may be a higher truth to be found if you open your mind to something you're reluctant to acknowledge, rather than looking for a "final truth" around which to close it.

Nov.23 – Chiron Stationary Direct (13:05 of Pisces; until Jun.24.2015)  (Nov.24 in AU)  ("What's a Station?"  "What does Retrograde mean?"  Read more about Retrograde planets.)

For up to a week before and after this date, you may feel a bit like you're caught between worldsthe spiritual versus the physical, the mental versus the emotional, or the outer objective world versus your inner subjective experience. Chiron has been retrograde for the last 4 months, giving us time to assess the places in our lives that need healing and to discover the ways that we might be wounding ourselves or others. This includes physical health issues, emotional vulnerability and mental perspectives that create more problems than they solve. As Chiron turns direct, everything we have learned over the last five months becomes ready to be applied over the coming three months (while Chiron is still in the Shadow). Right now, you might find you reach a decision or turning point about issues you have wrestled with since May concerning goals, career, expectations or authority. If these issues have been stressful, this might come out now in the form of health problems, so it's a good idea to be gentle yet disciplined with yourself in this area. It could be a time of ambiguity, feeling like you're caught in a whirlpool that mixes up possibilities with limitations. Or, you might experience some clarity, as the paradoxical coexistence of realities and potentials on the path before you come into clearer focus. Either way, it is a time that can be magical because of its ability to bridge the gap between what is and what might be.

Nov.25 – Mercury conjunct Saturn (26:50 of Scorpio)  (Nov.26 in UK, AU)

It's time to take a serious look at the circumstances and situations in your life. This transit may not exactly be "party time" but it's a great transit to have when you need to take a dispassionate, objective, clear view of life. You may be called upon to make a decision about something. For example, you might need to commit yourself to a particular plan of action, or start developing plans toward a particular goal. In either case, it may be necessary to limit or let go of other options. You might come to the conclusion that something has run its course and it's time to leave it behind – like an opinion or project or mindset. It's a time when your perception, thoughts and words may not be exciting, imaginative or entertaining, but you're probably more able to be clear, grounded decisive and hard working.

Nov.26 – Venus trine Uranus (12:49 of Sagittarius/Aries)  (Nov.27 in AU)

Spontaneity and liberation burst into your relationships, finances, resources and pleasures. You might feel compelled to try something completely different that shakes up the "same-old-same-old" routines you're used to. The upside is that you have the opportunity to break free of some old habits and breathe some fresh air into your life. But the downside could come in the form of impulse spending beyond your budget, or recklessness in your interactions and relationships. Strive to break free of what holds you back from being your true self, without destroying the structure of order in your life.

Nov.26 – Sun square Neptune (04:49 of Sagittarius/Pisces)  (Nov.27 in AST, NST, UK, AU)

Your ideals, hopes and wishful thinking may loom a little too large during this time, making you prone to disappointment and disillusionment. You might want a fantasy or dream to come true so much that you disconnect from the reality that seems to be in the way – only to find that the obstacle was serving a positive purpose after all. Your imagination may be very active now, but not easy to control or balance with reality. However, it can be a very creative time if you're able to harness that imagination for productive use. Unconscious urges and longings may be especially close to the surface, so you have an opportunity to learn more about the hidden forces that drive you (and perhaps distort your view of the world around you). Spiritually, you might discover that your yearning for enlightenment is not the straightforward path you had hoped for, but it can be just as valuable (although disappointing) to discover what is *not* your best path. Emotionally you may feel a bit overwhelmed, discouraged or confused. On the plus side, you have an opportunity to observe a deeper part of you, which is usually camouflaged against the distracting background of day-to-day life. There is tremendous creative, spiritual and healing potential to be found by listening to and working with the inner voices from those depths.

Nov.27 – Venus square Chiron (13:06 of Sagittarius/Pisces)   (Nov.26 in HAST, AKST, PST, MST, CST)

You may be forced to make adjustments to relationships and/or finances now, as you face situations in these areas that just don't want to balance out the way you want them to. You may feel a bit like you're in a catch-22 (no-win situation), where the more you try to find balance and harmony, the more you feel like you're chasing your own tail around in circles. This is a time when healing in relationships and financial problems may be difficult to obtain. Harmony in these areas can seem impossible or blocked, yet it is still necessary to keep trying. By trying anyway, it may be possible to find a solution that meets your needs, even if it may not be what you wanted, hoped for or expected. Strive to find a creative solution that draws on your best side.

Nov.27 – Mercury enters Sagittarius (until Dec.16)  (Nov.28 in UK, AU)

Communication, ideas, thoughts and perceptual "spark" become expanded in Sagittarius. Your mental focus tends toward a philosophical and spiritual outlook that seeks the highest truth in the broadest context. However, it's not always easy for the conscious mind to assimilate and digest such a vast territory of knowledge, or to find the higher meaning in mountains of raw information. You might feel a bit overwhelmed by trying to take in such a panoramic view of your world, but the gifts from doing so are abundant and inspiring! To get the most out of this transit, try learning something new that expands your horizon. Or pick a situation in your life and imagine that you're looking at it from a mountaintop – what do you see from way up there that you can't see when you're closer to the ground? Just remember that whatever visions and insights you get from doing this, these are SOME of the truths to be found, but not necessarily the only truth. Leave room in your new understanding to remember that every mountaintop shows a slightly different view and that this doesn't make one mountain right and the others wrong.

Nov.30 – Mercury square Neptune (04:51 of Sagittarius/Pisces)  (Dec.01 in AST, NST, UK, AU)

Your mental focus may be a bit clouded, confused or lethargic right now, as your conscious mind struggles to grasp the formless, limitless expanse of the Universe and the unconscious. You may experience some disillusionment or disappointment, in your observations or communication with others. However, what is flowing under the surface of events right now is the need to dissolve away the crust of old expectations that blocks your view from seeing a greater Truth. If you're feeling off-balance, try to listen more than you talk, so that you can be receptive to your inner sensitivity. Left-brain analysis might be difficult to work with right now unless you balance it with a lot of right-brain intuition. You may have to let go of a rigid mindset, or give up what you think you understand about a situation in your life, in order to open yourself to a new perspective that is difficult to define but is ultimately in the best interest of your spiritual growth.

Dec.01 – Mars sextile Saturn (27:31 of Capricorn/Scorpio)  (Dec.02 in AU)

There is an opportunity to harness the energy of willpower using practical discipline. Your physical and mental energy are likely to be stable and enduring, or else they can become this way more easily than usual by applying a sustained focus of effort. This is a great transit if you need to be productive or to make progress in a goal that you are working toward. The thing to watch out for is a tendency to be over-cautious to the point where you get stuck in the planning stage and don't get much done. Or, you might try to rush into the production phase before your plans are fully formed. This transit works best when these areas are brought into balance.

Dec.04 – Venus trine Jupiter (22:36 of Sagittarius/Leo)  (Dec.05 in AU)

Your luck and opportunity to attract money, love, resources and self-esteem are high right now. The flow of attraction (whether that is magnetizing people, things or opportunities) is riding a strong current right now. You could find it easier than usual to get the resources and abundance for whatever you need right now. On the other hand, "your eyes may be bigger than your stomach" (as mother used to say), meaning your desire may magnify your sense of need beyond what is wise. You may be tempted to spend, flirt or bluff your way through situations, preferring to ignore or avoid hardship, boundaries or drudgery. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but be careful you don't get your hopes up so high that you set yourself up for disappointment or make promises you can't keep. It's probably wise to balance this easy flowing energy with some discretion and good judgement.

Dec.04 – Sun trine Uranus (12:41 of Sagittarius/Aries)  (Dec.05 in AU)

You are more open than usual to spontaneity, surprises and "flying by the seat of your pants!" Your sense of humour and fun are let loose during this transit, as is your ability to break out of old outworn habits. You may get a flash of insight, a burst of courage or a surge of inspiration under this transit. The spirit of who you are can become released now, possibly leading to you behaving a bit "out of character." It's a great time to try new things and experiment with something that's out of character for you. In fact, it may be surprising how easy it is to break out of your usual routine...so much so, that it's good to be careful not to be too reckless under this transit. If your self-confidence, self-expression or self-esteem have been stifled or dampened lately, these could come flying out rather erratically, carelessly or chaotically. Strive to have fun pushing the envelope without ripping it. ;-)

Dec.04 – Mars enters Aquarius (until Jan.12.2015)  (Dec.05 in AU)

This is a freedom quest! The assertive, forceful energy of Mars can be at its most rebellious, defiant and eccentric while in Aquarius. We may feel especially independent. Or perhaps more accurately, "counter-dependent" – whatever is perceived to be dependent or restrictive may trigger an automatic reaction in the opposite direction. On the other hand, you may be inclined to jump to liberate someone else who is in a dependent position – perhaps an "underdog" or a noble cause. Taking a leadership role to champion an unconventional cause may make you a lot more noticeable...which may or may not be to your advantage (depends whether you want to continue in that role). It can be a good time to invest your energy in activities involving groups, friends, community or Humanity as a whole. Motives, behaviour and energy can be a mixed bag of unstable, spontaneous, unpredictable, liberating, obstinate and/or humanitarian. Have fun with it, but it may be wise to keep a lifeline to something realistic and grounding.

Dec.05 – Sun square Chiron (03:09 of Sagittarius/Pisces)   (Dec.04 in HAST)

Your self-confidence and patience may be a bit strained right now, stretched by the urge to break free of chronic constraints. Motivation and self-esteem may seem to sag and suffer from old problems that you thought were resolved. This is probably because you are seeing "the flaws in the system" that are preventing you from getting the results you want. It will help to take a fresh approach to your situation. You may need to let go of what you think the results "should be" or how they should come to you. Be open to getting what you want in a different form than you were expecting. You may have to work extra hard for results now, especially if it means having to find a different route to success. If it seems like a door of opportunity has closed, look for an unexpected advantage or hidden alternative. This could allow you to tap into other opportunities that wouldn't have been possible otherwise.

Dec.05 – Mercury trine Uranus (12:40 of Sagittarius/Aries)   (Dec.06 in NST, UK, AU)

Unusual ideas, flashes of insight and seeing unexpected possibilities are all part of this transit. You may find it easier to be open-minded right now, especially about insights that have eluded you. Your ability to see beyond your usual horizon of perception can bring visionary brainwaves, as well as a fun sense of humour. You might be inspired to experiment with something new or do something out of character. You might have an impulse to break free of old habits or constraints. This can be a very liberating transit that opens your mind to new possibilities and ideas. However, be careful that you don't become so liberated and spontaneous that you become erratic, hyper or reckless. Words may come tumbling out of your mouth before you've had a chance to consider their wisdom, or you might find yourself talking non-stop and interrupting, creating a bit of awkwardness in those around you. On the other hand, you might also find the clarity and vision that gives you the words to speak your truth with new conviction. It's a great time to do some writing or other form of self-expression, especially if it's spontaneous or involving technology.

Dec.06 – Mercury square Chiron (13:10 of Sagittarius/Pisces0)

Your mental focus and perceptions may feel a bit strained right now. You could find yourself locked in a struggle of indecision that stems from a "glass half empty" versus "glass half full" dilemma. It may be difficult to stay objective and evenly balanced in your perspective, but by working with this you could also find a new mental focus that gives you increased clarity. It might be tempting to sink into cynicism as a way to deal with what seems like a no-win situation. On the other hand, this transit could bring your mental perspective to a kind of "healing crisis" that forces you to get a better grip on the ideas, communication and frame of mind that have been problematic for you. Instead of reaching for extremes (hoping this will clarify the path in front of you), it will help more if you can take a few steps back to allow all the conflicting and out-of-sync elements to coexist together – creative paradox. If you have been in denial about something, this could be a turning point that allows you to grapple with the complex reality of your situation.

Dearest Readers: Once again my sincere thanks to Aerin Fogel who has graciously stepped in to write the Full Moon in Gemini article. This break has allowed me to get back up to speed after a death in my family. I'm happy to say that I will be back again with the next update for the New Moon in Capricorn (Dec.21). In the meantime, enjoy Aerin's Full Moon article and my day-to-day transits, below.
~ Wendy

Todays Full Moon, at 14 degrees of Gemini, is the last one in this calendar year. The next one will be January 4, 2015.

While New Moons are opportunities to set intentions in different areas of our lives, Full Moons are more about bearing witness to what is. The world is both literally and symbolically more illuminated under the shine of a Full Moon.

It is not necessarily the time to plant new seeds because we are asked to stand for a moment and gaze at what has come to fruition, what has ripened since the dark Moon, and what has been energized (though I doubt that anyone is really able to stand still on a Full Moon anyways).

The Moon also teaches us about the kind of ripening and manifestation that happens through cycles, through rhythm, and through reflection. Whereas the Sun will manifest new life by beaming directly and creating alchemically, the Moon grows into fullness of light only by being in relationship to the Sun. (What we see of the Moon is actually a reflection of the Suns light, refracted around the angle of the Earth. The Moon is Full when the Earth doesnt get in the way).

I felt a Cleaving in my Mind –
As if my Brain had split –
I tried to match it – Seam by Seam –
But could not make it fit.
~ Emily Dickinson

This Full Moon is particularly an opportunity to see how you create your reality. This can start with what stands in the light of your relationships, as Gemini is a sign that likes to relate. Notice how you are able to express yourself, how you communicate with others, and whether or not you feel challenged in this capacity.

Gemini is also a sign that relates to the mind, so this is a good time to notice what kinds of thoughts arise and dissipate in your mind. Remember that the Full Moon is not about trying to change what you are noticing, but simply to bear witness to it and use the opportunity for understanding.

With Gemini's ruler Mercury standing opposite the Moon and conjunct the Sun, this is also a time to witness the divide between higher and lower mind. Some of us may find there is a disconnect happening between what we believe in, the higher perspective we are able to hold, and what we truly think on a moment-to-moment basis. We may ultimately know that something is right but feel unable to act it out in the moment.

On the other hand, this may indicate a divide between what we consider sacred and what we consider secular. We may hold ourselves to impossible and unattainable moral standards that we will never live up to. The standard has been set so high that we find ourselves in a constant state of criticism and self-judgment.

This only increases the divide, for the more we judge ourselves for not living up to these standards, the more unattainable they become, the deeper the belief that we are not able to reach them. This causes a fracturing in our minds between what is right and what is possible. And a steady stream of reproach that runs through the fracture.

We may feel in this opposition as if we cannot live simultaneously in our wisdom selves and our ever-changing colloquial human selves. The key to working with an opposition is to understand that the perception tells us it must be one or the other, but that this is not the reality. The reality is that there must be a balance found where both can enter into the equation and can somehow be expressed simultaneously.

Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.
~ C.G. Jung

Grand Trine: Sun-Mercury-Venus, Jupiter, Uranus

The good news is that this Moon is also supported by a Grand Trine aspect pattern. ("What's a Grand Trine?") Mercury, the Sun, Uranus, Jupiter and Venus (if were using a generous orb) have all formed a wall of flame. This is a Grand Trine in Fire signs and a beautiful moment for inspiration.

A word about Jupiter: yes, its orb is unusually wide to be included in the Grand Trine. There are three reasons why it should be included. First, the Sun is applying within 8 degrees to trine Jupiter, bringing its energy into the Full Moon chart. Second, Jupiter is stationary and going retrograde in less than 3 days, so its energy is much stronger right now. And third, although Jupiter has already passed the trine to Uranus (Sep.25), it will swing back and trine it again twice in 2015 (Mar.03 and Jun.22), so that combined energy is still lingering.

Let yourself wander into the future with the part of yourself that holds vision, that feels passion deeply, that is carried away by a sense of what is possible. You can worry about bringing it into the present later now is your time to just see what you see and see it deeply. It may be radical. It may seem impossible. But you know it to be true, in the sense that this is a very real direction reality could go in.

Let Mercury and the Sun in Sagittarius deliver a new idea of what the future can hold. Let Jupiter in Leo make it a loving idea that supports and benefits others too. And let Uranus in Aries break through any old systems and beliefs that say it is impossible, and stand strong in your wildly individuated voice.

The issue with a Grand Trine is that while it can be wholly supportive of an experience, it can also act as a three-walled fortress. Nothing comes in and nothing goes out, because it is already self-supporting. In Fire signs, a Grand Trine can indicate a feeling of self-sufficiency: Everyone else is just going to slow me down so I better do the whole thing myself. Or, No one ever helps me, but its fine, because I know how to do everything for myself anyways. You have an opportunity to harness the supportiveness of the Trine to fuel your inspiration, while also working through the false belief that you are acting alone and are not supported by the people around you.

The beauty of all this Fire while the Moon is in Gemini, an Air sign, is that Gemini has the capacity to collect a multitude of seemingly disparate elements and synthesize them into one beautiful, packaged and often simplistic offering. Gemini loves beautiful offerings. Its like funneling a fog through a straw and distilling it into a clear drop of water. So if all you are producing right now is one drop of water, you should know it took you a whole patch of fog to craft it. You should know that this is an alchemical process. Without the Moon in Gemini, all this inspiration might get lost as a pipe dream.

Chaos often breeds life, when order breeds habit.
~ Henry Adams

Our old friends Uranus and Pluto in their Cardinal Cross are closing in on another intimate dance again near the date of this Full Moon (Dec.15). What may look like chaos in the media is actually just the work of these powerful agents of change. We cannot envision a new system and a new humanity while the old one still holds so strong. And we cant change a single thing if everyone is still asleep.

This is the meeting of radical chaos and massive upheaval. It is not leaving anything unexposed. The anxieties of the individuals who have suffered within this system are finding space to be heard, which must occur before real change can happen.

The control and power of patriarchal institutions must also be deconstructed while new ones are being built. Responsibility must be taken for our domination of the natural earth and of other people. From ground zero, we can find the power that comes through connecting as individuals in the collective, and can commit to stewarding our planet with consciousness and right use of resources.

Complete, unrecognizable change is possible. This has been happening since 2012 (or earlier if we are generous), so the theme is not new. But our collective place in the process seems new. More of the structure has been torn down. New ones are already being built. The inspiration of the Grand Trine and the genius and synthesis of Gemini are the perfect support for this process.

Witness your dreams on this Full Moon, but release the judgment of not yet reaching them. Run wild with inspiration but be sure to distill it into something that is both real and easy to understand. Become intimate with your thought patterns and how they drive your communications with others. And use your genius to participate in the deeply transformative process happening in our collective

The world needs your brilliant ideas now.

You are so busy being YOU that you have no idea how utterly unprecedented you are.
~ John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

Dec.08 – Sun conjunct Mercury (16:13 of Sagittarius)   (Dec.07 in HAST)

During this transit, your sense of self and purpose can become merged with what you think, perceive and say. On one hand, this can make for an easy flow of ideas and communication from inside your brain to the external world. It can also increase your perceptions and observations of the world, as you file it all away in your internal database. On the other hand, you may find yourself a bit tongue-tied, as it could be hard to separate your sense of self from your perceptions and ideas enough to find the words to adequately express them. In that case, just observe and go with the flow; the words will come later. It can also be a time when it's not easy to be objective, especially about yourself and how you bring yourself to the world around you. It's like your Being automatically expresses and sets into motion the things you think, perceive and want to say. This can help you to feel like your sense of self is shining effortlessly, but if your thoughts and perceptions are in conflict with other parts of you (e.g., emotions, needs, objectivity) then it might become a time when you act a little too quickly with blinders on. Strive for balance and self-honesty before you act.

Dec.08 – Jupiter Stationary Retrograde (22:37 of Leo; until Apr.08)   (Dec.09 in AU)  ("What's a Station?"  "What does Retrograde mean?"  Read more about Retrograde planets.)

For up to a week before and after this date (while Jupiter is moving very slowly and stopped during the station), you may experience an increase in idealism, longing or inspiration. Your opinions, beliefs and assumptions may come under question, as your understanding of life and the world around you now requires further study. While Jupiter is retrograde over the next five months, you may have to re-examine your assumptions, attitudes, biases and judgments about one or more situations. It can be a time to gather more knowledge and look at things from a different perspective, which can change your interpretation of events.

Right now at the station there is the turning point, which might inspire you to explore already-known territory in a new way, or it could disrupt your journey because your map of the territory isn't accurate or up-to-date. This especially applies to situations that have been developing in the last three months (since Jupiter entered the shadow). Allow yourself to be open to new possibilities emerging gradually out of old situations. There is a deeper understanding that can result from exploring things from a different perspective and questioning what you think you know. That which is known and familiar may seem strangely irrelevant or foreign for a while, yet will eventually become integrated and understood again after Jupiter goes direct in five months.

Dec.10 – Venus enters Capricorn (until Jan.04.2015)   (Dec.11 in AU)

Friendly, abundant Venus travels through serious, structured Capricorn, bringing out her grounded, material side. It may be time to make new plans and commitments for material or relationship goals. It can be a time to get serious and make some solid decisions about what works and what doesn't. It may help to organise and systemise the way you approach relationships, finances, resources and pleasure. An example of systemising pleasure is to schedule regular time to pamper yourself, or to make a point of doing the hard work that will pay off in pleasure later (like eating healthier food or working out more). Although this might seem a bit unromantic or uninspiring, you'll find that laying the groundwork for what you want to attract into your life will provide support for the rewards to come.

Dec.12 – Mercury trine Jupiter (22:36 of Sagittarius/Leo)

This transit can make you quite talkative and flooded with ideas, along with those around you. Your stream of consciousness can flow abundantly with optimism and visionary possibilities. Write down your best ideas for later development, since you may be having too much fun now playing with ideas to want to stop and make them manifest just yet. Your outlook is usually optimistic and open-minded under this transit, although it might simply neutralize an already pessimistic frame of mind. You are likely to be more open to spiritual or philosophical perspectives, being more able to see yourself as part of something greater than yourself. You might even find that luck comes your way because you are more receptive to opportunities and possibilities.

Dec.14 – Sun trine Jupiter (22:34 of Sagittarius/Leo)   (Dec.15 in AU)

This is a time when your understanding of the Big Picture and your place within it can click into place. As a result, your confidence and self-esteem can be quite high right now. Your ability to see opportunities and possibilities more clearly can produce an experience of being "lucky." Your insight into life and the world around you may be especially bright, optimistic and inspired. This is a "feel-good" transit, when your sense of self can seem to expand and become free. You may feel especially connected to spiritual energy during this time, finding new meaning in your live and the events that unfold around you. Self-confidence can run high now, and you could feel inspired to fight for justice or some cause. At the same time, there is a chance that all this self-assurance and "knowing" could go overboard into over-confidence, dogmatism or over-indulgence if it's not grounded in realism and humility. Just use your best judgment and enjoy this warm, shining energy!

Dec.14 – Venus sextile Neptune (05:01 of Capricorn/Pisces)   (Dec.15 in AU)

Artistry, romance, creativity and faith have the potential to flow freely now. Your creative Muse is whispering in your ear, although it will still take your own elbow grease to turn it into something real. Socially and romantically, things could run smoothly and even a bit magically, so be sure you are clear in yourself about what you really want. This can be a time of blessings and abundance (in all areas of life) ...but there is also the risk of overspending and being overly optimistic in your assumptions about money and relationships. Your natural beauty and warmth can be brought out by this transit, but don't just waste it on creating a faade of outer glamour and charm. Let the essence of your inner beauty and pure spirit shine through your appearance and mannerisms!

Dec.15 – Uranus square Pluto (12:35 of Aries/Capricorn)   (Dec.14 in HAST, AKST, PST, MST, CST)

If you haven't noticed that the world is been heating up in the last few years, with controversy becoming the norm and escalating competition for dominance by competing philosophies and priorities... well you just haven't been paying attention. Uranus and Pluto have been moving into position for the square aspect (90). Think prize fight between the Hulk and Darth Vader. I'd suggest loading up with popcorn and grabbing a seat on the sidelines, but in this drama there aren't really any true sidelines. Everyone will be (and are being) affected by the massive changes that our world is undergoing.

This square aspect is the first major turning point in a roughly 140 year cycle that Uranus and Pluto make together. The last conjunction (the start of the cycle) took place in 1965-66. The social upheaval that occurred during that time was legendary. We are still feeling ripple effects 40+ years later. In fact, those ripple effects, which themselves produce more ripple effects, have built up to the point where they are becoming waves crashing into each other. We have 3 years of exact passes of the square transit, with its effect spread out over a good 15 years, all told, possibly more depending on how you look at it.

So what's a mere mortal to do?

It's so easy to get caught up in the "hoorayfor my side" politics, trying to persuade others with impassioned urgency. It's as if Pluto is stubbornly refusing to budge, while Uranus does his best to throw the knockout punch. The rock meets the hard place. Everybody's yelling; nobody's listening except to formulate their next argument. And in a competitive world, winning can feel like the only worthwhile conclusion, while losing can feel like the end of the world.

This is the kind of atmosphere that wars are spawned from.

When the negotiation of Venus is overridden by the winner-take-all attitude of Mars, there's more destruction than healing that takes place. Chiron's message is that some wounding can be a good thing if it removes the toxin and stimulates healing, but too much will only destroy what is still healthy and sabotage healing.

This is NOT about any particular political party or religion or nationality or any other group that forms itself around a philosophy or ideology or belief system. In fact, all groups are subject to this escalation of energy as a collective reaction. That kind of dynamic only serves to narrow the focus to such a sharp point that it's impossible to see anything else, and that almost never goes anywhere good in the end.

Here are some suggestions. Use this transit to observe the ways you get swept up in the turmoil. (This could be personal turmoil in your immediate life or global turmoil.) How much of your own opinion, perspective and passion is being amplified by the eruption of energy from those you identify with? Or how much is a reaction to the force with which your opponent is expressing their position and trying to persuade you?

Being influenced and having your own thoughts, feelings and actions affected by the collective currents around you may or may not be something that's beneficial for you. For now, just observe it and be aware of it. See where that leads you. Aim to respond rather than react. Question, question, question. Let go of the belief that you must win at all costs or that the end will justify the means. Trust your ability to find ways to rise above what you do and don't believe to be true it will allow you see more of what is.

Last Uranus-Pluto square: 1932-1934.

Dates for the current Uranus-Pluto cycle:

This is the second last pass of this transit, although its effects will play out for several years to come.

Dec.16 – Mercury enters Capricorn (until Jan.05.2015)   (Dec.15 in NST, UK, AU)

Cheerful, adaptable Mercury travels through conventional, structured Capricorn, bringing out his analytical, focused side. This is a good time to plan your projects and map out a game plan to reach your goals. It is probably best to choose discipline over distraction. Communication, ideas and awareness may become serious, structured, grounded and manifest now. Just dont let them become suppressed or censored. This is a great time to do some serious planning and organizing for future projects and goals. It is also a good time for analyzing and evaluating what you have been involved with during the past year or so. What have you learned? What information has come to you that has led you into new directions? What goals have you achieved, and what goals do you want to pursue now? What plan of action is required to get you from here to there? It may be a time when you can face some hard reality and tough decisions better than you normally do. Because Mercury in Capricorn tends to be serious and factual, it may also be a time when you are more prone to depression or discouragement. It will help to schedule regular breaks in your routine to get away and plug your head into a different perspective for a while.

Dec.20 – Mercury sextile Neptune (05:07 of Capricorn/Pisces)   (Dec.19 in HAST)

Your mind is very open to imagination, dreams and compassion under this transit, with a little applied effort and focus. This can be a very creative time, when ideas flow like a magical river. It can also be easy to get caught up in yearning and fantasizing about your hidden wishes, although it is possible to channel this into creative expression. (e.g., writing poetry, dancing, wistful music, singing in the shower, whatever!) The possible disadvantage is that you might want so much to reach a state of inspired intuition, magical outlook and effortless communication, that you are willing to be deceived rather than fall short of what you are hoping for. Listening sympathetically to others' problems may come easily now, and you are more likely to get a compassionate response from others about your own problems. However, it may also be difficult to draw clear and firm boundaries with others, since you are more susceptible to the emotional gravity of others. It is ultimately a time for optimism, hope, creativity and intuition, although it's wise to keep at least one foot on the ground.

Dec.20 – Venus square Uranus (12:34 of Capricorn/Aries)

Under this transit, you may be tempted by impulse spending, or you might be somewhat erratic in your use of resources. This can result in unpredictable or unstable finances, so double check your bank accounts and credit cards before you draw on them. It is also a time when the way you relate to others (or they to you) could be somewhat inconsistent, fickle or impulsive. If your relationships or financial situation have been struggling with difficulties for a while, this transit could bring a lingering problem to the surface and require attention. On one hand, this could be a welcome breath of fresh air that cuts through the complexity of your problems and puts the cards on the table (despite the stress and conflict that likely triggered it). Or, you might feel resistance to making these changes and instead experience this as a time of unwelcome instability, upset and adjustment. However, this may be a good way to break free of excessive restraint, control or structure, which allows new possibilities to emerge that couldn't do so otherwise.

Dec.20 – Venus conjunct Pluto (12:46 of Capricorn)   (Dec.21 in AU)

Intensity in love and close relationships can occur under this transit, as well as a compelling need to get more control over your finances and assets. This could manifest as power dynamics emerging in your interactions with others, in which you engage in a negotiation for a better balance of power that is more in your favour. Or, you might become somewhat obsessed with the pursuit of pleasure and beauty, possibly trying to compensate for a low sense of self-worth. Or, there can be a valuable opportunity to develop a deeper connection with those close to you. You might find it necessary to negotiate with others for financial support. You may have to dig deeper than usual to extract needed resources from hidden places (or to deposit them there, out of reach from others who want a piece of your hoard). Keep your integrity high and dry by being honest with yourself about the ethics of your actions.

Dec.20 – Mars sextile Uranus (12:34 of Aquarius/Aries)   (Dec.21 in NST, UK, AU)

You have an opportunity to move forward through inspired action. This can bring creative problem solving to any conflicts or challenges that are currently in your life. Now is the time to think outside the box and experiment with trying out new responses, actions and directions. It may be easier to be spontaneous and even to act "out of character." If this is something you easily go overboard with, you might want to find ways to channel this constructively. The idea is to be refreshingly spontaneous, not recklessly impulsive. On the other hand, if you have trouble kicking up your heels and being free and unfettered, this transit can be used to get you moving a bit better. If you don't use this energy constructively or consciously, you might wind up feeling somewhat erratic or restless. Find something exciting, inspiring or unusual to spend your energy on.

Dec.21 – Venus sextile Chiron (13:27 of Capricorn/Pisces)

Although this transit lasts for only a few days, it is possible to make some progress in your healing and rebalancing efforts, although it will take some effort to make it happen. This may show itself in relationships, social interaction, finances, values, health or your spiritual connection to the Universe. You have an increased ability to negotiate with others and with your circumstances to achieve a fair compromise that results in equal sacrifice and benefit for all concerned. However, there is a risk of wanting to avoid conflict and discord so much that you negotiate beyond what you are truly comfortable with – peace at any price. By accepting and embracing the effort or struggle that is required, you can get out of your own way and achieve a more healing balance in those struggles. You now have increased ability to facilitate changes in situations that are within your control. It can also be easier to accept and adapt to that which lies beyond your control. Your effect on others can be potentially healing right now, especially by helping them find a new balance and point of acceptance in the conflicts and struggles of their lives.

Dec.21 – Uranus Stationary Direct (12:34 of Aries; until Jul.26.2015)   (Dec.22 in AU)  ("What's a Station?"  "What does Retrograde mean?"  Read more about Retrograde planets.)

Uranus now turns direct, after being retrograde for the last 4 months. This often brings a turning point in situations involving spontaneity, freedom, breaking free of old patterns, rebellion and expressing your personal uniqueness. For up to a week before and after this date, it could feel a bit chaotic or erraticor perhaps just spontaneous and exciting. However, Uranus' ultimate agenda is to clear the way for your true spirit to manifest in your life. You may experience unexpected changes, flashes of insight, or disruption of established situations that aren't working well (which might include computers, Internet, mass media, groups, friends or future plans). This can be the awakening of a new perspective, to be brought into a clearer focus through open-mindedness and being willing to try new things.

Happy Solar Return to all Capricorns! And Happy Solstice and Happy Yule to all of us! When the Sun enters Capricorn each year, it marks the Winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere (longest night) and the Summer Solstice in the southern hemisphere (longest day). Yule is the traditional celebration of the December solstice in European-derived cultures, welcoming the start of the increasing light. While the Sun is in Capricorn, we have the opportunity to explore our connection to the earth (Capricorn being an Earth sign) in a physical way. Whether you are bundling up to survive a cold winter, or unwinding after the summer heat, or getting down to business as the landscape blooms in "downunder" summer splendour, there is something very manifest and substantial about the experience of Capricorn. This energy calls on us to get real in whatever we are doing – to bring structure, responsibility and discipline to whatever we do. It is a time to work on our "containment." Not in the sense of suppression, but in terms of defining the boundaries within which our growth can flourish down the road, and keeping our impulses from inconveniently spilling over the edges of those boundaries. Sometimes that means cutting back in certain areas in order to focus your energy and make room for new growth. Sometimes it means having to delay gratification and reward until you reach a certain point of progress. The Capricorn rule of thumb is: if you do whatever is necessary, the rewards will come.
