"Magic doesn’t require beauty," she said.

May.04 – NEW MOON in TAURUS (14:10 of Taurus)

When we think of Taurus, we tend to think of money, food, the physical senses and stubbornness. Sensual pleasures like music, art, jewelry, textures, aromas, food, leisure – all are possessions of Taurus.

Its territory holds the things, situations, places and experiences that you value. What is worth parting with your hard-earned money? What do you invest in that makes your life better, richer, more satisfying or rewarding?

Your sense of Self (that emerges archetypally in Aries) also becomes something to be e-value-ated in Taurus. How do you feel about yourself? What helps you feel good about yourself and life? What is your self-worth based on? What triggers you into feeling undervalued or devalued?

In Taurus we also find activities, objects and behaviour that allow us to feel stable, durable and rooted, as well as how we fertilize our lives to support growth on all levels. This might include getting regular exercise, or having a list of friends you can call when you need some reassurance, or decorating your home in a way that make you feel safe, comfortable or uplifted, or spiritual practices and rituals that connect you with the physical world.

On a collective level, Taurus is related to the economy, the environment and sustainability.

Change and transformation are not usually in the top 10 of the Taurus list. But this New Moon in Taurus is likely to stray a bit beyond "business as usual."

I am in love with this world... I have tilled its soil, I have gathered its harvest, I have waited upon its seasons, and always have I reaped what I have sown.
~ John Burroughs, The Summit of the Years

The Sun-Moon conjunction (a.k.a. the New Moon) forms a cooperative trine aspect to Saturn and Pluto (120°) and a sextile aspect to Neptune (60°). This suggests the potential to reach beyond the basics to connect with something greater than yourself. In other words, there is an opportunity to grow beyond your usual worldview over the next few weeks.

New Moon aspects

This might simply be a feeling of well-being, that you're part of a greater whole. But you could also choose to tap into it more productively.

For example, by doing something creative – try baking a pie with a beautiful crust, or take some time out to enjoy some music or a relaxing massage. Or you might try something more meaningful through random acts of kindness or doing someone a favour or even lending your energy to a worthy cause.

Adding some extra comfy cushioning around the New Moon is the fact that the Moon is in her sign of exaltation (Taurus) and is therefore strongly placed. Also, Venus and the Sun are in mutual reception by triplicity (each is in the other's elemental triplicity; Fire and Earth, respectively), so they can mutually support each other through Fire (enthusiasm, energy, drive) and Earth (practicality, patience, productivity).

Venus is the planetary ruler of Taurus, and right now she's in Aries—not exactly her favorite place to be, but she knows how to make the best of it (and the mutual reception with the Sun definitely helps). The Taurus side of Venus wants to luxuriate in pleasure; to be relaxed and revelling in sensual delights, from bubble baths to bonbons.

Aries, however, brings impulses and reactions that spike her energy level. This combination is like adding hot peppers to a bowl of ice cream – it's an acquired taste. Interesting, exciting, enlivening, adventurous and it certainly wakes you up, but don't expect "Venus as usual."

Venus square Saturn, Pluto, Node

Our normally diplomatic Venus is in the midst of an argument, and being in Aries she's likely to get pretty loud and heated. She is in a conflicted square aspect (90°) to the Lunar Nodes, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn.

So far, she's holding her own! Although the Capricorn crew are hurling heavy expectations and rules at her and trying to tame her forthright style, Venus in Aries can give as good as she gets.

Venus trine Jupiter, sextile Mars

Jupiter is supporting Venus through trine aspect (120°) by providing some insight, wisdom, wit and confidence.

Venus is also in a cooperative sextile aspect with Mars (60°), who rules her sign of Aries, so she's not likely to suffer through Saturn and Pluto without a fight.

The paths in front of me are so numerous that it’s difficult to choose the right one. Yet I can rather quickly solve the problem by realizing that it’s not the paths in front of me. Rather, it’s the path above me.
~ Craig D. Lounsbrough

Speaking of Mars, he makes sure his voice is heard in numerous ways in the New Moon chart. Situated in Air-y Gemini, his energy is channelled into pursuing new information and dispensing same. Actions and reactions can be motivated or triggered by words, perceptions and curiosity, for better or worse.

Mars qcx Saturn and Pluto

However, forethought is not currently his forte. Gemini prefers to go where curiosity leads, and adventurous Mars is only too happy to follow.

Saturn's caution and Pluto's warning system are obscured by their quincunx aspect to Mars (150°). As a result, it would be wise to give some second thought to your true motives before acting on impulse.

Mars-Mercury in mutual reception

Mars is also a singleton in Air signs. In addition, Mars and Mercury are in mutual reception (in each other's signs), as well as being in sextile (60°). It all suggests that thoughts and ideas and words are likely to flow quickly and without much forethought. This can be a good thing if you need to think fast on your feet or to get the electric ideas flowing.

On the other hand, it is perhaps not such a good thing if what comes out of you mouth is something you later wish you'd run through your internal editor first. As in: "Oops! Did I say that out loud..?"

Mars is currently Out of Bounds by declination (Apr.20 to Jun.12). ("What does Out of Bounds mean?") Astrologically, it means actions, impulses, drive and motivation can be a little over-the-top. That could mean anger or reactions that are louder, more intense or more aggressive than usual. Or, you might be filled with inspired determination, or seized with passion for a cause, or the urge to go exploring off the beaten track. With this happening in the context of a Taurus New Moon, be careful not to get sucked into an online shopping spree, or fall down a rabbit hole of making half-baked decisions.

Mars opposite Jupiter

Mars is opposite Jupiter (180°), which is bound to amplify all the above Mars experiences. Angry? You might find your fuse is shorter and more sizzling than usual. Impatient? You may find it's better to count to 10 to slow down your reactions. Driven to take action? Your drive could take you far, so make sure your trajectory is aimed well and hopefully with justice and fairness in mind. This could be a great time for taking action toward a higher principle, especially when you frame it mentally with courage, virtue, and a clear mental focus.

T-square - Mars, Jupiter, Neptune

Neptune squares Mars and Jupiter, forming a T-square aspect pattern. Neptune is a singleton in Water signs (Pisces), so your access to feelings, intuition, caring and bonding goes through this planet and sign that are drenched in love and sensitivity, as well as idealism and confusion.

Neptune has a tendency to blur the lines around your perceptions, which could be a blessing or a burden. On one hand, it might soften the edges of inhibition or judgment, making it easier to act with confidence. On the other hand (and perhaps more likely), it could also lead to second-guessing yourself, so that you get stuck in questioning your motives or whether your action is the right one or whether you deserve to succeed at whatever you're trying to do.

Wedge - Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Mercury

The sextile from Mars to Mercury and Venus (60°) can help with this. Mercury and Venus form a Wedge aspect pattern with the Mars-Jupiter opposition. They especially give extra support to Mars, being in the sign that Mars rules (Aries).

One way to tap into this energy is to listen to your first impression, instinct or intuition. Often this is more accurate than ruminating over the dos, don'ts, shoulds, coulds and mights. That said, some sober second thought is still helpful and even necessary, but it's best used as a grounding reality check rather than a moral yardstick to beat yourself up with.

You must have chaos within you
to give birth to a dancing star.
~ Friedrich Nietzsche

And then there's Uranus.

After spending about 7 years in Aries (2010/11 to 2018/19), he just recently crash-landed in Taurus this past March 6th. This new energy started rumbling last year, from May to November when Uranus peeked inside the door briefly, and then stepped through completely last March. Uranus shakes the Taurean ground for about 7 years and then transitions into Gemini in 2025/26.

In many ways, putting Uranus in Taurus is a bit like taking a hammer to rose quartz. It's not the most graceful combination and something of value could get broken, but it might also be a good way to create a more beautiful and powerful crystal.

The last time Uranus was in Taurus was 1934-1941 – a time when global economy was in a nose-dive. This fact makes it easy to assume that Uranus in Taurus could mean economic collapse. The most recent economic crisis happened with the Saturn-Uranus opposition of 2008-2010, which we're still recovering from over 10 years later. Saturn will square Uranus in 2021-22, which is likely to create problems again by showing us where the established structures are fragile, weak or broken.

However, while that is a possibility, there's more to this than meets the eye. The Great Depression of the 1930s actually began under Aries' watch with the stock market crash of 1929. By 1934-35 when Uranus moved into Taurus, a gradual—if sometimes wobbly—recovery had already begun. So, Uranus in Taurus seems to have manifested as dramatic changes to fiscal policies and programs that increasingly renovated world economies back into a healthier state.

In other words, Uranus in Taurus may be more accurately about breaking down old structures that have become outgrown or obsolete and no longer serve the overall system effectively. Even more-so, it involves creating radical new policies, practices, habits and customs that were considered crazy or unthinkable in the past but now are seen as the best choice going forward.

This view may be reassuring on one level, since it suggests a sense of purpose, reason and healing to the far-reaching changes that Uranus invokes. However, drastic change could also be destructive. One cautionary reminder about the 1930s is that this period also saw the rise of fascism, white supremacy and war, notably in Europe but also elsewhere around the world.

So, Uranian changes could create radical disruptions to the status quo to the point of chaos until some semblance of harmony is re-established and the dust settles. The thing to remember about the potential Uranus-Taurus turmoil, good or bad, is that it is an attempt to create a new state of improved stability. Whether or not you agree with the direction that turmoil appears to be heading in, its intention is to construct a new alliance of divided factions that is believed to be better than the old by the victors. It's up to us, collectively and individually, to determine the best direction to take that in.

If you’re lying to everyone you know, including yourself, at every possible turn,
is a little upheaval really the worst that could happen to your life right now?
~ Agnostic Zetetic

Now: before you take a dive under the nearest rock for the next 7 years, remember that the purpose of Uranus energy is to improve, upgrade and liberate. Its metaphorical earthquakes are meant to shift the inner and outer landscape so that new ideas can emerge that make change possible. By undergoing this process mindfully, awakened and open-eyed, we can navigate through the turmoil toward a more positive outcome.

Think of it like gardening—a very Taurus endeavour. In order for anything to grow, you first must break up the ground that has been packed down by months of weather, traffic, and settlement into a fixed state. Only then can you sow new seeds and expect them to grow successfully.

On a personal level, Uranus in Taurus points to the disruption and rebuilding of structures in your life and your psyche that you have outgrown or are in the way of your growth. This could include habits, expectations or conditioning that produce automatic reactions that interfere with a more mindful, centered awareness.

There may be important information or insight that you're missing because habitual expectations or beliefs are blocking your view. In other words, you think you already know all you need to know, so you figure you don't have to think about it anymore. But Uranus is here to show you that there's more to it than what you're seeing, and by making changes you will be able to expand and sharpen your perception, understanding and effectiveness.

In other words, when you think you already know, you usually don't look any farther and that can limit your knowledge and understanding. By being open to fresh, uncharacteristic or innovative ways of seeing things, doing things, reacting to things and understanding things, you open yourself up to greater possibilities that you didn't even know could be of value to you.

What's hard about this is that in order to see beyond your known universe, the mirrored walls around it often need to be broken down, and that could involve loss or turmoil which is not usually a pleasant experience. So, it's important to take stock of the resources you can gather around you that will help steady you and fortify you for the journey.

Our most precious resource now is wonder.
What we wonder ignites our imagination, unleashes our empathy, fuels our ferocity.

The New Moon in Taurus serves to show you some of those resources or to bring them into reach. The most important resources are likely to come from Mercury, Venus and Mars in the New Moon chart.

Venus in Aries says you have a lot of passion, courage and confidence than you might think you do. In particular, the part of you that usually will negotiate, compromise or seek to please others doesn't have to be a doormat. Your Inner Warrior Queen is capable of being kind when she wants to be and a fierce adversary when she needs to be.

Mercury in Aries says you have the ability to speak your truth assertively and directly. That doesn't mean you should "shoot off your mouth before your brains are loaded" ;-) but you could try speaking a little more directly, focused or enthusiastically than you normally do. If you already do that, perhaps a little more than is wise, you could try honing down your words to be brief and to the point. You will probably have a lot to say over the next few weeks (and years!), so this is a good time to practice saying what needs to be said without inflicting unnecessary or excessive damage.

And Mars in Gemini says that acting on your first instinct might be fine, but asks if that is the highest, wisest, most moral response you can think of? Acting with love, kindness, compassion and empathy can go a long way toward getting what you want in a way where everyone wins. If you usually feel like the other guy has to lose in order to feel you've succeeded, try taking a deeper look at what that's about. A win-win outcome is usually more lasting and paves the way to future successes better than making sure the other guy is humiliated and vanquished.

The New Moon in Taurus offers an opportunity to take inventory of where you are strong and where you need strengthening. What expectations, habits, rituals and routines do you have in your life that you take for granted so much that you don't even see them anymore? It might be a good idea to become more aware of them, since some of them might be in for some long-term change.

True stability results when presumed order and presumed disorder are balanced.
A truly stable system expects the unexpected, is prepared to be disrupted, waits to be transformed.
~ Tom Robbins, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues

May.05 – Mars opposite Jupiter (23:22 of Gemini/Sagittarius)  (May.06 in AU)

Both inspired action and brash overconfidence characterise this transit. For up to a week before and after this date, you may find that your energy, anger, libido and ability to take action are amplified – so much so, that you may be pushing yourself beyond what is realistic or unable to deal with reasonable boundaries to prevent them from getting out of control. What is needed is to find that fine line of balance between ego-based desire and spiritual inspiration; between will power and focused faith; and between righteous anger and arrogant pride. Strive to bring both your ego's desires and your spiritual aspirations into what you do, for each has its own validity and won't operate well without the other.

May.06 – Venus square North Lunar Node (19:29 of Aries/Cancer)  (May.07 in AU)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

Perhaps you're finding that the people in your life are not being as supportive, encouraging or cooperative as you thought they would be, in terms of helping you fulfil your life purpose. Someone might suddenly withdraw their support, or maybe they contradict or interfere with what you're trying to do with your life. Perhaps an argument or disagreement happens and the upset, stress or hard feelings that result seem to cast a shadow on how you feel about your life. If this happens, it's possible that what you disagree about is something you should look at more closely. Are you responding to this situation in a way that truly reflects your values? Or perhaps your values need to be reconsidered. The agreement or balance of priorities between you might need to be renegotiated. This transit might also manifest as problems around finances or possessions, which requires some adjustment on your part. Since this transit usually lasts only a few days, in most cases its effects will not be major. If it does bring up some significant issues, it is probably hinting at a deeper issue, and you would be wise to look at the problem beyond the current circumstances. Other transits (especially to your natal chart) can give you more information about the nature of the situation.

May.06 – Mercury enters Taurus (until May.21)  (May.07 in AU)

Thoughts, communication and analysis work best when they are careful and methodical, during this transit. Your mental attitude and awareness may be somewhat serious and conservative – or down-to-earth, relaxed, and grounded in simple pleasures. Your perceptions may be a little slower to form, and you may have to search a little longer to find the right words. But there is also an increased ability to savour and appreciate your experiences more, and it can be a time when you can relax and recharge your mental batteries. You might find that your body instincts and sensory experience give you more information than your conscious thoughts. This is a good time to plan out how to manifest the ideas that sprang from your imagination in the past several weeks. Take your best ideas, perceptions and words and sow them like seeds. Then watch them grow over time.

May.07 – Venus square Saturn (20:28 of Aries/Capricorn)

Finances, relationships, social contacts and/or pleasures may seem blocked or require extra effort right now. Manifesting your desires may require added hard work, but this struggle could also bring you closer to your goals. It may feel like there is a huge rock blocking your path that keeps you from fulfilling your heart's desire. It may be necessary to face some difficult aspect of your situation before it is possible to know how to proceed. This is ultimately a problem to be solved by confronting that which is unrealistic, unworkable, or just not in your best interest. This can also be a time when you arrive at a crossroads and must make some firm choices, or when circumstances might force you to change your direction. This transit can make your choice clear, although it might not be the one you hoped for.

May.08 – Mercury conjunct Uranus (03:25 of Taurus)  (May.09 in AU)

Communication and thoughts can be radical, spontaneous, unusual and uncharacteristic under this transit. You may be compelled to speak your mind to say things you've held back from saying before now. However, as the saying goes, there is a risk of "shooting off your mouth before your brains are loaded." It is a time when you are likely to be open-minded and flexible in your perceptions. Our eyes are wide open, and as a result, we may be a bit shocked, surprised or stunned by what we see. This can also release our creative genius and bring inspired clarity, especially as we look to the future. Encounters with groups, friends and the greater community are also possible at this time.

May.08 – Sun sextile Neptune (18:13 of Taurus/Pisces)  (May.09 in NDT, UK, AU)

Faith in the bountiful blessings of the Universe is within reach under this transit...but then, so is the fantasy that you will be magically granted anything you wish for. Although this is mostly a very positive energy, you could become so immersed in your longing for the ideal that you have trouble dealing with the less-than-ideal realities that still must be dealt with. Gaining the benefit from this transit will still require some effort. Hope, optimism and imagination are in the air, which could bring some relief from any depression or discouragement you might be feeling. Your creativity and imagination can be very inspired under this transit. Your sense of self could also get an infusion of uplifting vision, and you may experience a sense of mission, feeling that you are truly a Child of the Universe. There is potential now to lift you out of the ordinary and into the sublime – spiritually, creatively, romantically or compassionately – although this will require your cooperation to take advantage of it. Enjoy it while it lasts, but before you make changes based on what might feel like a permanent condition, remember that this is mostly a temporary influence and you will still have to live within the bounds of the physical world after it passes. Don't make overly optimistic promises now, that you will have to fulfil later when the euphoria wears off.

May.09 – Venus trine Jupiter (23:04 of Aries/Sagittarius)  (May.10 in AU)

Your luck and opportunity to attract money, love, resources and self-esteem are high right now. The flow of attraction (whether that is magnetizing people, things or opportunities) is riding a strong current right now. You could find it easier than usual to get the resources and abundance for whatever you need right now. On the other hand, "your eyes may be bigger than your stomach" (as mother used to say), meaning your desire may magnify your sense of need beyond what is wise. You may be tempted to spend, flirt or bluff your way through situations, preferring to ignore or avoid hardship, boundaries or drudgery. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but be careful you don't get your hopes up so high that you set yourself up for disappointment or make promises you can't keep. It's probably wise to balance this easy flowing energy with some discretion and good judgement.

May.09 – Venus square Pluto (23:05 of Aries/Capricorn)  (May.10 in AU)

Relationships and interactions are likely to be deep, intense and transformative under this transit. The same goes for your sense of beauty, and your material and financial dealings, which may require you to delve far deeper than usual to discover the truth under the surface of things. You may encounter the dark shadow of your desires – the obscure, secret or unconscious hunger that hides underneath the "politically correct" face you show to the world (and to yourself. This is a challenge to be resolved in some way. It might bring out conflict rooted in envy or jealousy, if someone has something (or someone) that you feel you are entitled to. Or, it might prompt you to reach very deep into your soul to find your inner beauty and value. You may be challenged to develop empathy or empowerment about something that initially seemed undesirable, unforgivable or scary. This transit can show you the problem areas that need to be transformed and healed. And seeing these more clearly can be a catharsis that sets that transformative healing in motion.

May.10 – Sun sextile North Lunar Node (19:20 of Sign/Cancer)  (May.09 in HAST, AKDT, PDT)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

This can be a feel-good time when you feel like you're on your game. Your sense of purpose and direction feel like they're flowing just right. Opportunities may present themselves and you are in a good position to recognize them and know how to make them work to your advantage. Even if you encounter difficulties, you are likely to be more confident in approaching them and therefore better able to find effective solutions. Pay attention to people who cross your path for 2-3 days around this time, since they could offer resources, support or connections that could be helpful. Just be careful that you don't resort to manipulation to make things happy your way. If you have to force something to work then maybe there's a better solution.

May.11 – Sun trine Saturn (20:24 of Taurus/Capricorn)  (May.10 in HAST)

This is a great time to apply yourself to serious work. You may feel especially self-sufficient and independent, with a strong and clear sense of self and purpose. There is support for your ambitions as long as you stay grounded and practical in how you approach them, which should come easily right now. Your ability to cooperate and feel comfortable with authority figures is likely to be high, along with your capacity to embrace your own authority and make solid decisions. This is a time when you are more likely to feel grounded and deal with problems in a practical, decisive way. Your energy may be more serious than "party animal," but even if you are in "party mode" it will be easier to realistically know your limits and not overdo it. If you've been waiting for the right time to move forward with or manifest a project or plan that you've been putting together (or wanting to), this could be the time when that happens. The final launch or manifestation may or may not happen now, but you will probably be able to at least move forward in some important steps.

May.13 – Sun trine Pluto (23:03 of Taurus/Capricorn)  (May.10 in ADT, NDT, UK, AU)

Your sense of purpose is strong now, as you are able to tap into a deeper level of energy and determination. Your personality is likely to be more forceful now, which can be great if you need to make a strong impression but perhaps not so much in situations requiring delicacy or subtlety. Your ability to see below the surface of things is especially clear, and it may be possible to unearth secrets or get at the core of unconscious patterns (yours or others'). This is a time when your personal presence may come across as somewhat "larger than life," so you need to remember that a little goes a long way during this transit. This could be a time when you suddenly find the strength to stand up and assert your personal power in a situation that has felt overwhelming or discouraging. On the other hand, if you are still struggling to learn how to own your power, without using nuclear bombs to make your point, you may still feel a bit overwhelmed or daunted by this transit. In that case, take smaller steps and don't try to push the river.

May.14 – Venus sextile Mars (28:59 of Aries/Gemini)

It is possible now to take a balanced approach to conflict, problems and projects that require effort. This can combine both a gentle touch and firm action; sensitivity and forcefulness. Negotiation and interaction with others could be aggressive and determined now, but also balanced with sensitivity and style. Any expressions of anger, frustration or discontent are more likely to be tempered with fairness, moderation and composure. You'll have to apply some effort to get these opposite energies working in sync together, but the potential and opportunity are there more-so than usual now.

May.15 – Venus enters Taurus (until Jun.08)  (May.14 in HAST)

Venus rules the sign of Taurus, so she is very comfortable here! Your experiences of pleasure and sensuality are likely to be heightened...perhaps even a bit too much! You might be tempted to overindulge in sensory delights. On the other hand, you may feel the urge to be more grounded, practical and methodical in the way you handle relationships, money, possessions, material values, and attracting what you desire. It is also a time when your desires could manifest tangibly or at least become more apparent. It may be possible to see more clearly the ways that your self-worth is tied to material things, like income, savings, possessions and spending. Your finances and possessions could act like a "touch stone" to reassure you in times of stress. The trick is not to let this become a substitute for genuine self-respect. To make the most of this transit, take some time to relax and enjoy life! Take your time, smell the flowers, drink in the sunsets, listen to beautiful music, get an aromatherapy massage or explore new uses for chocolate. ;-)

May.15 – Mercury sextile Neptune (18:21 of Taurus/Pisces)  (May.16 in UK, AU)

Your mind is very open to imagination, dreams and compassion under this transit, with a little applied effort and focus. This can be a very creative time, when ideas flow like a magical river. It can also be easy to get caught up in yearning and fantasizing about your hidden wishes, although it is possible to channel this into creative expression. (e.g., writing poetry, dancing, wistful music, singing in the shower, whatever!) The possible disadvantage is that you might want so much to reach a state of inspired intuition, magical outlook and effortless communication, that you are willing to be deceived rather than fall short of what you are hoping for. Listening sympathetically to others' problems may come easily now, and you are more likely to get a compassionate response from others about your own problems. However, it may also be difficult to draw clear and firm boundaries with others, since you are more susceptible to the emotional gravity of others. It is ultimately a time for optimism, hope, creativity and intuition, although it's wise to keep at least one foot on the ground.

May.15 – Mars enters Cancer (until Jul.01)  (May.16 in ADT, NDT, UK, AU)

The fiery energy of Mars is poured through the sensitive, emotional waters of Cancer. This is not the easiest placement for Mars, since its sharp edge becomes somewhat softened and diluted. However, this is also a time when it is possible to use your assertive and proactive energy for the protection of yourself or others. This is like the mother bear that can become extremely fierce when protecting her young, and in the same way you have an abundance of energy to defend your "children" – literally or figuratively, in the sense of creative projects, loved ones, your Inner Child, or your home "nest." This is also a time when deep emotional issues may erupt to the surface, like buried anger, repressed frustration or unconscious fear. The focus of your feelings may be a little unstable and moody, but it also gives you an opportunity to nurture, vent and express those feelings. Observe how you respond to any deep feelings that emerge, either in yourself or in others. Does your Inner Parent try to repress or scold that Inner Child, or are you able to respond lovingly, caringly and sensitively? This is a learning experience that can teach you how to nurture yourself ...and others.

May.16 – Mercury sextile North Lunar Node (19:03 of Taurus/Cancer)  (May.15 in HAST)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

You may be more perceptive and observant than usual during this transit. You could find the right words to communicate a little easier, or you might simply find that things make a little more sense. It can be a good time to write that letter, ask that question, make that call, when you feel you are in focus to move forward. The only caution is to be careful not to focus on what you want so strongly that you can't see what's really there, or to try to force the situation to be what you want it to be.

May.16 – Mercury trine Saturn (20:17 of Taurus/Capricorn)  (May.17 in UK, AU)

It can be easier to take a logical, practical approach to problem-solving and pursuit of your goals now. Your mental outlook is likely to be calm and grounded. This is a good time to make plans and work out the logistics of how you're going to get from "here" to "there" in pursuing your goals. You may find it's time to bring closure to finished goals by distilling and systemizing what you've learned in the process of pursuing those past goals. Or, you might find you are able to draw on past achievements to assist and support your current goals and plans. It is a good transit to bring structure to your thoughts and communication. You may find it's a little easier to accept authority – yours or someone else's – and that you are able to speak authoritatively about things about which you have knowledge or experience.

May.18 – Mercury trine Pluto (23:01 of Taurus/Capricorn)  (May.17 in HAST, AKDT, PDT, MDT)

It is possible to dive deep below the surface now, in your perception of situations, other people and yourself. If you have been working on trying to understand the deeper motivations and dynamics of what is happening in your life, there could be a breakthrough now. The light may finally go on in the darker corners that have eluded you, and your penetrating insight. You could find a way to articulate these perceptions and speak your mind in a way that is unusually powerful or intense (so be careful you don't inadvertently blow your audience out of the water). This transit can bring an opportunity to shed and leave behind old worn out perceptions or ineffective forms of communication. Try writing down your thoughts and ideas to capture the energy of this transit. This is the only exact pass for this transit, since Pluto was out of range when Mercury came through this area two months ago.

May.18 – Venus conjunct Uranus (03:58 of Taurus)  (May.19 in AU)

The warm receptivity of Venus can become somewhat cool, detached and unpredictable when combined with Uranus. This is a good combination for carrying out a dispassionate strategy, or for networking with acquaintances and associates. It can also be a time when you might liberate yourself from old connections – for example, choosing to end a relationship, stepping away from an outworn friendship, or being open to experimenting with new kinds of connections with people. It can also be a time of impulse spending, or wanting to use your resources and finances for a humanitarian purpose. Finances may become a bit unpredictable or unstable – either bringing income when you didn't expect it, or spending it when you may or may not have. Whether you want to liberate your own life or someone else's, this is a time when freedom and independence become the focus of pleasure. Experimentation is also tempting, and while this can be invigorating, it might also leave you with consequences you hadn't anticipated. Embrace your spontaneity, but don't divorce your judgment.
