May.18 – FULL MOON in SCORPIO (27:38 of Scorpio)

Behold the noble salmon. Although Scorpio is associated with the scorpion, snake, eagle or phoenix, this Water sign actually has a lot in common with this fish.

When a salmon swims upstream it looks like it's merely going against the flow, but it is for a special purpose – to procreate by spawning. And instinctively, it goes far upstream to do this in its natal birthplace.

Wild salmon

In other words, it has an overwhelming urge to return to the Source in order to create something beyond itself.

As with archetypal Scorpio, the salmon has an impressive cycle of life, death, transformation and rebirth. Once seized by this instinct, they stop eating and focus obsessively on the process of procreation and transformation. During this sexy phase, they turn from cool silver grey to passionate red as they make the climb upstream to find a mate for the best one-night-stand of their lives.

All that change, effort, struggle and energy is pretty exhausting! Most species of salmon die very soon after spawning. Their carcasses continue to provide nutrients to the water where their babies will hatch, feed and grow.

Salmon are one of few species of fish that can live in both fresh and saltwater. They are born in fresh water, swim to the salty ocean as adolescents, then return to fresh water as adults to spawn. As with the salmon, Scorpio spans across the elements in many ways as well.

This Water sign is represented by a member of the spider family. (Yes, you read that right.) The scorpion is usually found in the fiery hot and dry desert and in some areas in dark, damp areas of the forest, but you aren't likely to catch it splashing around in a bubble bath. However, an interesting sidebar is that the scorpion may have been the first animal to evolve from water to land millions of years ago. Scorpio is indeed a multidimensional sign!

Take away love and our earth is a tomb.
~ Robert Browning

Fast forward to the Scorpio Full Moon. When we humans are called to the Scorpio mission, it's usually means some part of us is ready to transform. And that means embarking on an epic journey deep within, in order to clear the field and seed a new phase of growth and evolution.

This can apply to your whole life if you are born with Scorpio, 8th house, Pluto or Mars prominent in your natal chart. And anyone can be brought to this threshold by a slow-moving Pluto transit, which leads you through a 2-year process of deep transformation which requires your dedication, concentration, passion and love.

What we're talking about right now, however, is a Full Moon in Scorpio. Compared to a Pluto transit, this is like dipping your toe in Scorpionic waters as opposed to diving in. A Full Moon's influence typically lasts for a few days to a couple of weeks. It may not pull you deep into Pluto's Underworld, although it could bring you to the precipice and invite you to look over the edge into the abyss.

It's hard to talk about the Scorpio journey and the Pluto process without using dramatic language that can sound scary. Certainly, a picnic with Pluto in the Underworld isn't quite like the Teddy Bear's picnic.

That said, with any of the transpersonal planets (notably Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) it helps to take a step back to get a better sense of what's happening—although then it starts to look larger than life and twice as snarly. However, when you're inside moving through the process, it's just like any other pivotal life-altering transition – you take it one step at a time, keep moving along the path, gather some supportive resources around you, give yourself lots of love, acceptance and time to process it all, and trust the process.

Saturn, Pluto, South Node

Pluto is considered by many to be the modern-day ruler of Scorpio, while Mars is the traditional ruler, and both therefore play a significant role in the chart, being co-rulers of the Full Moon's sign.

We are currently dealing with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction, which is quite an intense combination of forces to reckon with. With Pluto being a strongly Scorpionic energy, this long-term transit is imprinted on the Full Moon which is likely to refract its energy like light through a prism.

Throughout this year, the planet of get-real (Saturn) meets up with the planet of get-deep (Pluto), at the crossroads of got-baggage (South Lunar Node). Although the South Node has now finished its exact conjunctions with Pluto (Apr.04) and Saturn (Apr.30), it remains within an 8° orb of one or both planets from this past January until mid-November later this year.

The South Lunar Node marks a place where we need to let go of old baggage that no longer supports or serves us well. We may be ready to let go of old stuff, or we might encounter situations that show us what we're holding onto that is getting in the way of our growth. It might be necessary to let go of the situation completely, or it may be time to simply move it out of the foreground and into the background where our learning from it becomes a resource we can draw on.

With Saturn and Pluto dancing with the South Lunar Node this year, the current Full Moon in Scorpio is bound to put a spotlight on the effects of those combined energies. We are getting a peek into the dark corners to reveal hidden, controversial or combative issues, dynamics and events.

For example, as I write this the news is filled with stories about attempts to change abortion laws throughout the US and elsewhere. If passed, these laws will substantially affect the lives of women, resulting in dramatic changes to the gender power balance. This could be good or bad news, depending which side of the divide you're on, but either way it is a sizzling hot issue fuelled by passionate convictions and far-reaching implications.

For our purposes here, the point is that Saturn, Pluto, Node—combined with a Scorpio Full Moon for good measure—are bound to intensify concerns around Scorpionic topics, including: reproduction, sex, sexuality and gender-identity, power/control/authority, empowerment, disempowerment, intimacy and interpersonal boundaries. And there are other indications in the Full Moon chart that point to these themes, as we'll see.

If you think you can grasp me, think again: my story flows in more than one direction a delta springing from the riverbed with its five fingers spread
~ Adrienne Rich, Time's Power

In the Full Moon chart, the balance between feminine and masculine energies (Yin and Yang, receptive and assertive, etc) are in a largely awkward alliance. Most notably, this involves the Moon and Mars which contain a lot of powerful yet complex potential. So, let's break it down.

Let's start with Mars, which rules of the Scorpio Full Moon. Mars is in Cancer where it is in its Fall (opposite its sign of Exaltation; similar to being in Detriment which is opposite the sign of rulership). Being in Fall (as well as in Detriment) means the sign through which the planet must express itself is significantly contrary to its nature, so it's not a very comfortable place for it to be. Being in Fall isn't all bad though – it means the planet needs to flex its muscles in ways that are challenging, unfamiliar and awkward, but this can also be constructive in unexpected ways.

For example, when Mars is in Cancer, expression of his naturally animated, forthright energy becomes somewhat... complicated. Nurturing Cancer can feel open and vulnerable and doesn't want to hurt feelings, so Mars' usual directness, boisterousness and anger may become blunted, or expressed through sidestepping (like the Cancer crab), manipulation or passive-aggression.

On the other hand, Mars in Cancer can also channel that energy into creativity that uses great force, boldness and passion. Horror author Stephen King is an excellent example, writing stories that carry the reader to an unsafe place and then show how it can still have a happy ending. Or, Mars might use defiance, courage and pioneering stance to protect or defend the people and situations that are vulnerable, threatened or at risk. Pioneering child advocate and educator Maria Montessori is an example here.

In addition, Mars is currently Out of Bounds (Apr.20 to Jun.12) which can extend Mars' energy out beyond his usual range of experience and behaviour. OOB Mars in Cancer can be channelled successfully in some surprising directions, and is seen in the charts of many people who are highly respected for their accomplishments. Examples: comedian Robin Williams, actors Kenneth Branagh and William Shatner, and animal scientist and autism spokesperson Temple Grandin. There are also several high achievers who are more controversial; for example: media mogul Rupert Murdock, American Muslim leader and rights activist Malcolm X, and former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

The point is: if they can do something constructive and successful with this mixed bag of energies, so can you. And most of you only have it for a couple of months, not a whole lifetime. ;-)

My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends—
It gives a lovely light!
~ Edna St. Vincent Millay, A Few Figs from Thistles

The Moon is in Scorpio where she too is in Fall. Her naturally receptive, nurturing, open and warm energy can become overly intense, guarded, and prone to hot and cold swings of emotion. Channelling all that Lunar-Scorpio passion and intensity into a creative outlet or cause can be helpful. Examples range from Christian evangelist Tammy Faye Bakker to Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, as well as singer/songwriter George Harrison, author Truman Capote and anti-apartheid activist Stephen Biko.

So, although planets in Detriment and Fall are traditionally considered "weaker," they can actually be used in very creative, innovative ways. Some very successful people have key planets in Detriment or Fall. One notable example is former US President Abraham Lincoln who had Mercury, Venus and Mars in Detriment, as well as the Moon in Fall. On the other hand, the uphill battle doesn't always end constructively, as in the example of killer Erik Menendez who also had the same planets in Detriment and Fall as Lincoln.

The point is that a planet in the sign of its Detriment or Fall certainly has some special challenges that require some extra care, focus and support to bring out its unique potential and better nature. There's no guarantee it will fall into place easily, but there is substantial capacity for something awesome if you hang in there and work with the energies. Like a salmon swimming upstream against the current, it doesn't mean you can't do something wonderful with all that struggle, although you may have to work twice as hard to achieve it.

Moon-Mars mutual reception and biquintile

Just to make things even more "interesting" the Moon and Mars are in mutual reception, meaning that each is in the sign that the other rules. MR planets can usually support each other, especially if there is a cooperative aspect between them. It's like each planet can email the other asking for tips and tricks on how to make the best of the sign.

The problem here is that both the Moon and Mars are feeling a bit cranky and worn out due to being in Fall and having to twist themselves into unfamiliar shapes to make things work. As a result, they aren't entirely at their best to give the kind of support the other needs. Luckily, there is a BiQuintile aspect between them (144°) which should help them find creative, innovative and inspired ways to talk to each other. That said, the BiQuintile still requires some extra effort to bring out that ingenious potential.

Wedge - Sun, Moon, Pluto, Saturn

Speaking of the Moon's aspects to its ruler, Pluto—the other ruler of Scorpio—is in a cooperative sextile to the Moon (60°) and trine to the Sun (120°). Together they form a Wedge aspect pattern which means Pluto can provide a constructive, beneficial outlet to help resolve the tension of the Sun-Moon opposition (a.k.a. the Full Moon axis). But Pluto is no fluffy bunny, as we've seen above. So, going to Pluto for support is a bit like asking Darth Vader to guard your planet – you might be in for a little more than you bargained for.

Pluto energy is best handled through empowerment – in other words, centering your power within your personal realm of control rather than trying to coerce the world around you to comply with your demands. But it can be a slippery slope from one to the other, and it takes discipline, self-awareness and self-honesty to resist that gravity.

That's where Pluto's conjunction to Saturn can be helpful, since discipline and structure are his bailiwick. Just remember that a little goes a long way. Keep your focus on what you can do in service to your own values, authority, priorities and realm of control. Persuasion and inspiration are better than coercion and oppression.

It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.
~ Vincent Van Gogh

There is some good news in this chart! Three planets are strong in their sign of rulership: Jupiter, Saturn and Venus, which bestow some extra momentum, ease and resilience. Jupiter in Sagittarius is visionary and able to look beyond the present situation to the distant possibilities and implications, which can help keep the faith on a long journey. Saturn in Capricorn can help provide some discipline, structure and sustained focus on your goals.

Stellium in Taurus

Venus in Taurus is super-strong in her sign of rulership (along with additional dignity: Triplicity and Term). In fact, she rules the Stellium in Taurus that includes herself, Uranus, Mercury and the Sun. Venus is tightly conjunct Uranus, which should make it easier to find innovative, unusual or unique ways to work with all that difficult energy discussed above.

Mercury cnj Sun opp Moon

Mercury is closely conjunct the Sun (0°) and opposite the Moon (180°). Mercury in Taurus suggests your mental capacity may be a bit on the slow or lazy side – not the best placement if you need to think fast on your feet perhaps, but it can be great for pacing yourself and resisting the urge to jump to conclusions before all the evidence is in. Stubbornly sticking to the same viewpoint and being closed to new ideas is also a possibility, but if you need some added endurance to resist disruptive outside influences, Mercury is probably the guy to go to.

There's no Air in the chart, meaning there are no planets in Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius). So, you might experience Mercury in Taurus as a bit frustrating if you're used to being quick-witted or need to make a clear decision about a complex situation. Taurus needs to move at its own pace and prefers to avoid a lot of drama. Let yourself slow down a bit, smell the flowers, listen to some music, and think pleasant, comfy thoughts. Give yourself some extra time to think things through. Keep it simple and down-to-earth.

With no Air in the chart, it also means your best resources for information could come from your body and instincts. The Taurus Stellium says that cold, hard facts are important to rely on, but also check in with your body to see how you feel about the situation. Find physical (preferably non-destructive) ways to express what you're feeling and thinking.

You only have to look at the Medusa straight on to see her.
And she's not deadly.
She's beautiful and she's laughing.
~ Helene Cixous

Last but hardly least, the Sun is conjunct dwarf planet Sedna and fixed star Algol. We don't know a lot about the astrological Sedna yet, as it was only discovered in 2003. Algol, on the other hand, has an ancient reputation as a troublemaker.

Sedna, Algol, Sun

Algol is the eye of Medusa in the constellation Perseus. Mythologically, Medusa was a cursed Gorgon who had snakes for hair and a glare that could literally turn you to stone. (I'm sure we've all known someone like that.) So, having a planet conjunct Algol is like having to look into the eye of Medusa in order to access that planet's energy. Your instinct may be to avoid facing the issue directly, but you ignore it at your peril. The Sun conjoins Algol once a year in May, when it gets to 26:25 of Taurus. In other words, a Full Moon involving Algol isn't going to be the end of the world, but it is bound to be noteworthy.

Sedna is a super-slow-moving dwarf planet that travels far beyond the orbit of Pluto. In fact, Sedna's 11,400-year orbit is the second-longest of any known object in our solar system (so far). She is currently approaching perihelion (closest to the Sun) and reaches this in 2075. In fact, as far away as Pluto gets away from the Sun, Sedna at her closest is still almost 3 times the distance of Pluto at his farthest!

Sedna orbit

Mythologically, Sedna is an Inuit goddess of the sea and its inhabitants. Her story is varied but always tragic, often with her dying by the hand of her father. In most versions of the myth, her fingers are chopped off as she tries to save herself from drowning (yikes!), and they become sea creatures which she then rules over as a sea goddess.

The dwarf planet Sedna has been conjunct Algol within 5° for many years, spanning 2008 to 2027. The 5 exact passes stretch from 2017 to 2019, the last and final one being this past March (June 2017, Oct. 2017, May 2018, Jan. 2019, March 2019). It is interesting to note that many issues around the rights, roles and perception of women have heated up during this time. In addition, concerns about the environment have come into focus, including the colossal amount of plastic garbage in our oceans. How a planet manifests doesn't always match its mythology, but these examples are very intriguing.

In a societal context, the Scorpio Full Moon in combination with Sedna, Algol, Saturn-Pluto and Moon-Mars repeatedly point to controversy and struggle around themes to do with women, reproduction, sex, intimacy, power and control. Balancing out this turmoil is a super-strong Venus flanked by a coalition of planets in Taurus ready to stand their ground with stability and endurance. Feminine energy dominates the skies, through both vulnerability and strength.

In a more personal context, this energy may influence how you experience, express and work with feminine energy in broadest sense – openness, vulnerability, feelings and self-empowerment, as well as strength that is rooted deep within your intuitive, emotional core. This also includes your creativity – your ability to conceive and build something that emerges from your heart, soul and mind. It may involve the challenge of confronting a part of yourself you feel is ugly, yet finding the courage to look at that part of you with love, understanding, compassion and acceptance. You are giving birth to yourself, and in order to do that, a part of you that is holding you back may have to die and be reborn.

Like that Scorpionic salmon, this Full Moon brings you to an uphill battle in many ways. But if you can keep going with it, it can take you to a point of view or a truth or a realization or an opportunity that enables you to reach beyond yourself in some way.

Keep swimming.

The death of a dream can in fact serve as the vehicle that endows it with new form, with reinvigorated substance, a fresh flow of ideas, and splendidly revitalized color. In short, the power of a certain kind of dream is such that death need not indicate finality at all but rather signify a metaphysical and metaphorical leap forward.

May.21 – Sun enters Gemini (until Jun.21)  (May.20 in HAST, AKDT)

Happy Solar Return to everyone born in the sign of Gemini! This is the time of year for the cosmic Twins to party, but it is also a time for all of us to explore our dual nature and our sentient awareness that emerges from it. Communication and exchange of information and ideas are specialties of Gemini, and this period brings these areas into focus for everyone. If you're looking for ideas to explore your Gemini nature, try writing your thoughts down, or listen to the buzz of activity around you, or express your observations in both verbal and non-verbal ways. Pay special attention to conversations with others, and be alert to the new information that can be learned there. Connect with your Inner Imp and let yourself be playful, clever, cheerful and fun! Learn a new word every day. Find out the names of things you never even noticed before. Read a book or newspaper or newsletter...or write one! Ride the bus to an area of town you've never been to and see what you find. And remember that it is largely through our interactions with other people and with the immediate world around us that we develop consciousness, perception and mental focus. Therefore, use this as an opportunity to increase your awareness of your immediate surroundings. Exchange information and ideas with others. Use your ability to communicate in every way you can think of. And let yourself be curious, clever and playful!

May.21 – Mercury enters Gemini (until Jun.04)

Mercury is the planetary ruler of Gemini, so the mind wants to fly fast and free. Communication and perceptions may come and go like a fresh breeze through an open window. This can create a wide variety of ideas but not necessarily productive application of those ideas. You might find it a little easier to articulate words, sharpen your mental focus, and collect and analyze your thoughts and information. This can give wings to your ideas and self-expression, but remember that you'll have to back up any promises and "fast talk" with action and substance. Let this be a time to explore possibilities and enjoy social interaction, rather than jump to final conclusions. Collect the raw data and exchange ideas, but be aware that understanding the broader meaning will likely come later.

May.21 – Sun conjunct Mercury (00:12 of Gemini)

During this transit, your sense of self and purpose can become merged with what you think, perceive and say. On one hand, this can make for an easy flow of ideas and communication from inside your brain to the external world. It can also increase your perceptions and observations of the world, as you file it all away in your internal database. On the other hand, you may find yourself a bit tongue-tied, as it could be hard to separate your sense of self from your perceptions and ideas enough to find the words to adequately express them. In that case, just observe and go with the flow; the words will come later. It can also be a time when it's not easy to be objective, especially about yourself and how you bring yourself to the world around you. It's like your Being automatically expresses and sets into motion the things you think, perceive and want to say. This can help you to feel like your sense of self is shining effortlessly, but if your thoughts and perceptions are in conflict with other parts of you (e.g., emotions, needs, objectivity) then it might become a time when you act a little too quickly with blinders on. Strive for balance and self-honesty before you act.

The peak of Mercury conjunct the Sun is when it is Cazimi, which means being exact within 17 minutes of arc. For the few hours that this takes place, a Cazimi planet is said to be very strong. In the case of Mercury, your perceptions, awareness, thoughts and ability to put your thoughts into words may be unusually clear, focused or direct – even more-so since this happens in Mercury's sign of Gemini. You are still cautioned that an extra sharp wit might still be used with negative consequences, intentionally or not.

May.22 – Neptune trine North Lunar Node (18:28 of Pisces/Sign)  (May.21 in HAST, AKDT, PDT, MDT, CDT)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

For a week or two before and after today, you may feel a sense of longing for what could be, might be or what you hope will be. This could be a feeling that you finally deserve the blessings that you hope will grace your life, or it might be focused on a vague sense that something wonderful is about to happen. Creativity could flow more freely right now, especially when you are inspired by others around you. You might feel forgiven for mistakes you've made in the past, or more capable of forgiving others for the hurts they caused you. On one hand, it can seem like all you have to do is surrender to the undercurrent of what you're feeling and it will all magically fall into place—and that may well be the case. Just make sure that what you're surrendering to is all that you believe it is, since you may also be a bit vulnerable to wishful thinking that turns out not to match the reality or consequences of your actions. Keep both feet on the ground while your head is drifting through the clouds. It's probably wise to call on a trusted friend who knows you well to be honest with you about whether your imagination might be overstating what is realistically possible.

May.22 – Mars sextile Uranus (04:11 of Cancer/Taurus)  (May.23 in AU)

You have an opportunity to move forward through inspired action. This can bring creative problem solving to any conflicts or challenges that are currently in your life. Now is the time to think outside the box and experiment with trying out new responses, actions and directions. It may be easier to be spontaneous and even to act "out of character." If this is something you easily go overboard with, you might want to find ways to channel this constructively. The idea is to be refreshingly spontaneous, not recklessly impulsive. On the other hand, if you have trouble kicking up your heels and being free and unfettered, this transit can be used to get you moving a bit better. If you don't use this energy constructively or consciously, you might wind up feeling somewhat erratic or restless. Find something exciting, inspiring or unusual to spend your energy on.

May.23 – Mercury sextile Chiron (05:02 of Gemini/Aries)  (May.24 in AU)

Your mental focus and communication could get an injection of healing energy under this transit, as long as you are prepared to put some effort into getting it. Your spirits can become uplifted now, from seeing a light at the end of the tunnel or from finding a light that guides you along the path in front of you. It will not, however, make the tunnel or the path go away; you'll still have to walk the walk. But your mental perspective can become more accepting of inconsistencies and frustrations under this transit, which can alleviate a lot of stress and make the journey a bit smoother. Mental struggles and critical "self-talk" may find some reconciliation and acceptance that brings peace of mind. You have an increased ability to find the right words and understanding to help others with their problems, by providing insightful feedback. To get the most out of this transit, aim to find a mental outlook and communication style that can tolerate contradiction without having to eradicate one in order to justify the other.

May.23 – Mars square Chiron (05:03 of Cancer/Aries)  (May.24 in UK, AU)

It may be time to confront issues in your life that involve how/why you get hurt by others, how you yourself hurt others, and how healing can take place in either of these situations. Your awareness of this may due to a conflict in your life, but this can be a valuable learning experience for you, more-so than usual. Part of the problem may be that you need to tread your own path but are avoiding this for whatever reasons – perhaps circumstances compel you to satisfy others' expectations, or perhaps you are still struggling to muster the courage to find and walk your own path. Whatever the reasons, this transit may give you a push that will help to steer you in a healing direction, possibly by showing you how and why the path you have been on does not lead to where you want to go. If you start to feel overwhelmed, take some time out from the stress to get re-centered and grounded.

May.26 – Sun sextile Chiron (05:09 of Gemini/Aries)  (May.27 in AU)

This is a time when you have an opportunity to mend and heal the chronic struggles in your life. You may find new inspiration, motivation or confidence that can help rejuvenate waning enthusiasm or reconcile persistent problems, although you'll still have to apply effort to bring it all together. You might get the chance to demonstrate your ability to walk your own path in a new way. Or, you might get a peek inside the hidden shadow of your worries and discouragement, giving you new insight into how you might be unconsciously sabotaging your conscious efforts. You may have to face a bit of your own fear of failure or low self-esteem before you can get beyond these feelings and tap into the benefits of this transit – not because you are failing but because these concerns may arise in response to the new potential now available to you. By tapping into this potential for creative problem solving, you can bring some healing to whatever your situation is.

May.26 – Mercury goes Out of Bounds (12:05 Gemini to 20:10 Cancer; OOB until Jun.17)  (May.27 in UK, AU)   ("What does Out of Bounds mean?"   "What is Declination?")

Mercury goes Out of Bounds (OOB), giving us a chance to peek into ideas and observations beyond our usual thoughts, awareness and comfort zone. The "air up there" can be a bit rarefied. If you're not used to it (and even if you are), your thoughts might seem almost a bit drunk, confused, unusually inspired, or flowing so freely that it's hard to capture them clearly. If you do catch one of these thoughts clearly, remember that it's an idea, not necessarily reality, even though you could use it to create a new reality for yourself. Your mental peripheral vision can become expanded, taking in more information than usual. You may have a chance to manifest it more clearly when Mercury returns from "outer space."

Another effect that is common while Mercury is OOB is that it can feel like Mercury is retrograde, even when it's not. Weird things often happen, including confusion and things seeming to be generally out-of-synch. As with the actual Mercury retrograde, it's best to give yourself a bit more time to get to appointments, drive more carefully, double-check information and give everyone around you a bit more patience, since they're going through this too.

Like all things in astrology and life, Mercury OOB has its upside and its downside. Much depends on which thoughts you feed and what you feed them with. If you consume fear, suspicion, anger or hostility, you could find yourself feeling a bit paranoid, easily angered, or looking for ways to cheat in order to avoid anticipated negativity. On the upside, you may discover a fresh understanding about things, putting new pieces of the puzzle into place and tapping into a higher level of truth and insight. Try writing down your ideas, perceptions, thoughts and moods. After Mercury comes back down to earth, you can see how you can put those observations and ideas to good use.

May.29 – Mercury square Neptune (18:35 of Gemini/Pisces)  (May.30 in UK, AU)

Your mental focus may be a bit clouded, confused or lethargic right now, as your conscious mind struggles to grasp the formless, limitless expanse of the Universe and the unconscious. You may experience some disillusionment or disappointment, in your observations or communication with others. However, what is flowing under the surface of events right now is the need to dissolve away the crust of old expectations that blocks your view from seeing a greater Truth. If you're feeling off-balance, try to listen more than you talk, so that you can be receptive to your inner sensitivity. Left-brain analysis might be difficult to work with right now unless you balance it with a lot of right-brain intuition. You may have to let go of a rigid mindset, or give up what you think you understand about a situation in your life, in order to open yourself to a new perspective that is difficult to define but is ultimately in the best interest of your spiritual growth.

May.30 – Venus sextile North Lunar Node (18:20 of Taurus/Cancer)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

Your charisma and charm shine a little brighter during this transit. You may be more receptive to what others have to offer, or you might feel more generous with those around you. You could find just the right thingamajig to buy, or you may discover resources you didn't realize you had. It can be a good time to socialize, go on a date, schmooze strategically with people or negotiate an agreement. Aim for a balance of give-and-take in a way that benefits all concerned. Just be careful not to become so seductive that you persuade someone to do your bidding when it's not in their—or your—best interests.

May.30 – Venus sextile Neptune (18:35 of Taurus/Pisces)  (May.31 in AU)

Artistry, romance, creativity and faith have the potential to flow freely now. Your creative Muse is whispering in your ear, although it will still take your own elbow grease to turn it into something real. Socially and romantically, things could run smoothly and even a bit magically, so be sure you are clear in yourself about what you really want. This can be a time of blessings and abundance (in all areas of life) ...but there is also the risk of overspending and being overly optimistic in your assumptions about money and relationships. Your natural beauty and warmth can be brought out by this transit, but don't just waste it on creating a façade of outer glamour and charm. Let the essence of your inner beauty and pure spirit shine through your appearance and mannerisms!

May.30 – Mercury opposite Jupiter (20:48 of Gemini/Sagittarius)  (May.31 in ADT, NDT, UK, AU)

Your thoughts and words can become amplified under this transit, which could bring a sense of adventure, a surge of ideas, and/or imbalance due to exaggeration. You may find it's hard to stop talking (or writing), your head is filled with so many possibilities. However, your judgment about the validity of your ideas may be a bit off, or you might feel the urge to overstate your position to keep from being misunderstood. Blame and judgment could creep into your perceptions of others or the other way around. This might spring from a need to find a greater meaning or truth in the facts, having difficulty bridging the gap between the raw information and the big picture. The trick is to keep a balance between simplicity and elaborate complexity. The challenge is to find ways to express, think about and understand the vast range of possibilities and meaning within the perceptions of everyday life. Not all of it will survive the translation, but enormous spiritual creativity can be generated in the trying.

May.31 – Venus trine Saturn (19:44 of Taurus/Capricorn)  (Jun.01 in AU)

Stability in relationships and finances characterises this transit. You have increased ability to be disciplined about spending and to invest the hard work to maximise your earnings. Your ability to grasp the solid, realistic facts will help you choose wisely in your investments of both money and interaction with others. Commitment and structure are easier to achieve and embrace than change or taking risks. Self-worth can benefit now because you are less inclined to give in to mood swings. However, if you are prone to depression, you might want to be careful you don't become so grounded and stable that you lose touch with your sense of hope and potential. It is a good time to make concrete progress in matters involving beauty, love, harmony and balance. Keep your pleasures simple and humble for maximum benefit.

Jun.02 – Venus trine Pluto (22:47 of Taurus/Capricorn)  (Jun.03 in ADT, NDT, UK, AU)

Close one-on-one connections with people (close friends, lovers, partners of all kinds) will tend to gravitate to a deeper, more intense level now. Instead of automatically doing the diplomatic, "nice" thing, you may find it is more fulfilling to share more of your authentic feelings. It may be possible now to connect with people on a deeper level, while still ensuring that your interests are equally balanced with theirs. The trick is to do this without trying to control or overpower the other person, and it may be easier to avoid those traps now. You could make some deeply intimate connections with people under this transit. Financial dealings with other people may also go smoothly, although it might be wise to get clear confirmation that you're both on the same page about the fine print.
