Jun.17 – FULL MOON in SAGITTARIUS (25:53 of Sign)

Greetings on the Full Moon in Sagittarius! For this Full Moon, I am very pleased to again feature the insightful Leah Whitehorse for the Full Moon article. I'll be back again for the New Moon in Cancer which is also a Solar Eclipse! Meanwhile, enjoy Leah's article about expanding into Sagittarius energy. My day-to-day transits follow, as always, and don't forget to check out your Daily Horoscopes and Lunar Forecast. Also, check out my new article on the upcoming Mercury retrograde cycle. Happy Transits!   ~ Wendy

The Full Moon in Sagittarius brings us to a point where we must examine what we believe. The opposing Sun in Gemini shows there is tension between what we believe and what we think we know. Logical facts (Gemini) clash with higher aspiration (Sagittarius).

In Sagittarius we want to touch God, to know deity at a human level. In Sagittarius we are drawn to wide open skies, the promise of a better future, the yearning to understand it all. But still Gemini asks questions, makes a connection, generates another question. Still, there is meaning in the madness. Sagittarius is ever the optimist and so we too can take a leaf out of that book.

But big questions are coming at us from all sides during this lunation. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter and Jupiter has just formed the second of three squares to Neptune (exact June 16). The Full Moon itself is widely conjunct Jupiter and square to Neptune. The Moon and Sun make a T-square to Neptune, so everything revolves around "what is truth, what is illusion."

Neptune is stationing now too, preparing to go retrograde in a few days' time (June 21). There's almost a sense of timelessness, weightlessness. Consciousness expands. It's like floating in space. Everything is softly spinning, turning. Asteroid Chaos is conjunct the Sun.

The Moon is close by to the Galactic Centre. We're endlessly falling towards a black hole and yet endlessly looking back to the majesty of Mother Earth. Hope, fear, all our dreams, all possibility, caught in a timeless moment. It reminds me of a song by Kate Bush: Hello Earth.

Watching storms Start to form Over America.
Can't do anything, just watch them swing
With the wind out to sea...
~ Kate Bush, Hello Earth

There is so MUCH to think about. Minds are overwhelmed and maybe we find ourselves thinking "this is BIG." We know it, feel it, intuit it. But we need to fall back to Gemini and keep asking questions because nothing is clear right now.

Faith is tested and yet we must have faith – a conundrum. There is so much promise woven into these strange times, but we don't quite know how to access it and maybe we don't quite trust it either. After all, we are coming up to a Mercury-Mars conjunction opposing Pluto over the next few days. These aspects bring up issues connected to trust. Suspicion is rife. Anger boils to rage.

So, we need to reconnect with ourselves and consider - what do I want my future to look like? Because it's in formation now.

It is easier to fight for one's principles
than to live up to them.
~ Alfred Adler

The Moon is on the Sabian Symbol "A Flag Bearer in a Battle."

The flag is a symbol for what we stand for. The Sabian repeats the main question - what do you believe? In whom or what do you place your faith? Do you have the courage of your conviction?

Thinking back to Mercury conjunct Mars opposite Pluto, perhaps on a global level right now, it is important to stand up for what we believe in – to call out bullying and downright poisonous beliefs.

It's not easy to stand strong without descending into fighting but this is what is required. Both Sagittarius and Gemini connect to education. This is how we change the world, one lesson at a time.

We are all part of the same rainbow. We are all reflections of each other. As unique and diverse as we are in character and skills, the source of all creation is as multidimensional as we are.

Jun.17 – Mercury returns from Out of Bounds (OOB since May.26; 12:05 Gemini to 20:10 Cancer; next OOB is Dec.22)  (Jun.18 in AU)   ("What does Out of Bounds mean?"   "What is Declination?")

Mercury has been Out of Bounds (OOB) and now returns within the bounds of the Sun's declination. An in-bounds Mercury is generally easier to work with, where your thoughts, ideas and awareness works more constructively with the world around you. You might find you have new ideas picked up while Mercury was OOB that you now are able to put into practice. If you've felt somewhat liberated by the OOB period, it might be a bit uncomfortable to feel simply "normal" again. On the other hand, if you were feeling a bit ungrounded or out of focus during Mercury's OOB period, coming back in-bounds could feel somewhat reassuring as your brain may find it easier to grapple with ideas and process experiences. Words and thoughts might fit more comfortably into what society regards as "normal" and as such, life may start to feel a bit easier to navigate.

Coming back in bounds can also be a bit of a bumpy landing as that unrestricted energy becomes squeezed back into its usual potency. This is a good time to observe your thoughts, ideas, communication and how you process information, as well as changes in Mercury themes in society around you. For several days before and after this date, pay attention to the things that amplify or cool down your awareness, perceptions and your need to express what you're thinking. Realize that this is an adjustment period, and having some patience with yourself and others can help to smooth and soothe this time.

Alternatively, the re-entry can also be an eventful time when changes in Mercury-related areas can occur. For example, you might feel this is the right time to start—or end—a conversation about things that inspire or aggravate you, or make changes to how and why you express yourself. A shift in how you experience or handle the exchange of ideas and information with others could inspire you to make positive changes in those areas. This might be due to a change in perspective as a result of your experiences while Mercury was OOB.

Jun.18 – Saturn sextile Neptune (18:43 of Capricorn/Pisces)

The sextile aspect brings together two adversarial planetary energies in creative ways. Saturn and Neptune as as different as chalk and cheese. Their energies are about structure versus fluidity, definition versus ambiguity, fact versus fantasy, control versus surrender, hard work versus inspiration. There are a few areas where they can come together in beautiful ways through music, art, service based on compassion, and any practical application of experiences and perceptions that cannot easily be defined. The sextile aspect between them now indicates an opportunity to combine these energies in innovative ways, either through action (you making this happen) or appreciation (you enjoying the results). So, you might find you're moved to redecorate, join an art class or go to art galleries, listen to or play or dance to music, etc. Or, you might have a vision of some wonderful potential and want to make that manifest. And in that sense, you might be a bit more susceptible to "too-good-to-be-true" prospects that lack integrity or realism. Do your homework before making a commitment.

Saturn and Neptune make 3 passes of this sextile aspect: Jan.31, Jun.18 and Nov.08 2019.

Dates for the current Saturn-Neptune cycle:

Jun.18 – Mercury conjunct Mars (21:31 of Cancer)  (Jun.19 in AU)

Spontaneous or impulsive words may come flying out of your mouth under this transit! If you've been struggling to keep opinions or observations to yourself, you might find it hard to keep them quiet, especially if you feel strongly about the situation. You might see things as more "cut and dried" than usual. Although you might feel frustrated if things don't happen in a direct, quick, straightforward way, it can also be a good time to make decisions and move forward with plans. On one hand, this can have a positive effect because it can give you courage to speak your mind and assert yourself candidly and honestly. On the other hand, you might also come across as abrupt, cranky, argumentative or even downright hostile, especially if you've been stuffing down anger or resentment for a while. This transit represents a new beginning in how you can handle self-assertiveness, communication and decision-making. By "listening to" your impulses, passions and urge to speak your truth, you can get an idea how your "inner voice" wants to emerge – and how to do that without annihilating the other person. ;-)

Jun.19 – Mercury opposite Pluto (22:28 of Cancer/Capricorn)

This transit brings powerful words and ideas! They require you to strike a balance between personal perceptions and trans-personal implications. Your communication can be more penetrating, forceful or persistent than usual now, and a little will go a long way, so use this ability sparingly and carefully. In the same way, the words and perceptions of others may have a deeper and stronger impact on you than they normally do. This could be a mixed blessing – you may discover some profound insight and psychological truth in what others say to you, but you might also be receiving their unconscious projections too (meaning their perceptions and feedback might say more about them than about you). Deep self-honesty can help you decide what is true and what is being distorted. Avoid reacting on "automatic pilot" and give yourself some mental and psychological breathing room to avoid becoming overwhelmed.

Jun.19 – Mars opposite Pluto (22:27 of Cancer/Capricorn)  (Jun.20 in ADT, NDT, UK, AU)

Mars and Pluto doing battle in the skies can create a very intense showdown! This is a time when tempers can flare, power struggles can emerge, and aggressive action could seem like the only way to handle a conflict. If you feel yourself becoming entangled in a mounting tension with someone, you might do well to back off a bit to let the adrenaline subside on both sides. On the other hand, it is a time when we are often challenged to assert ourselves and strengthen our spirit, which can often be brought on by confrontation. This is the kind of atmosphere where our interactions with others can bring out deeply hidden and intense feelings inside us, which long to be expressed but are usually suppressed instead. This is an opportunity to observe what gets triggered inside of us and what kind of interaction triggers those feelings. It can be valuable to use the experience as a way to vent old frustration, work through unresolved anger, and ultimately heal our deeper wounds by letting go of whatever holds us back. Sexual energy can run very high under this transit, so handle it wisely.

Jun.20 – Mercury enters the Retrograde Shadow (23:56 of Cancer; in shadow until Aug.15)  (Jun.21 in AU)   ("What's the Shadow?"  Read my articles about Retrograde Cycles.  Read my article about Mercury Retrograde.)

Mercury is now "in the Shadow" – the area of Zodiac where it will later go retrograde in about 2½ weeks time. During its retrograde cycle, Mercury travels through the same span of the Zodiac three times (called the Shadow). The first time through, it is going in direct motion (moving forward), then retrograde (looks like it's going backwards), and then direct again. This means there is a more extensive process of development and change involved with things that Mercury influences—ideas, thoughts, frame of mind and mental focus. It also concerns the collection, exchange, analysis and organisation of information. All forms of communication are also affected. This includes not just talking, but also email and snail mail, the Internet, the media in general, books and magazines, as well as public transit (buses, trains, etc.) and neighbourhoods.

The situations developing over the next couple of weeks (leading up to when Mercury actually goes retrograde) will likely require further research, deeper consideration and adjustments to unexpected discoveries over the next couple of months. Expect changes in your plans, increasingly disrupted communication, and new information coming to light that may not fit conveniently into your plans. It's wise to leave lots of extra time to do things, to plan future projects and get to wherever you're going. Patience is a valuable quality during this time. If you must make important decisions during this time, try to build some flexibility into your plans to allow for later changes—or if possible, you may want to delay final or irrevocable decisions until well after Mercury goes direct.

Here are the key dates of this Mercury cycle (for North American Eastern Time):

Jun.21 – Neptune Stationary Retrograde (18:43 of Pisces; until Nov.27)  (Jun.22 in AU)  ("What's a Station?"  "What does Retrograde mean?"  Read more about Retrograde planets.)

For up to a week before and after this date, you may feel a thick concentration of Neptune energy. This could include vivid dreams and imagination, foggy confusion or fluid intuition. You might experience unusual sensitivity to the people and situations around you. The station could create a turning point in situations that have unfolded over the last few months, especially those in which you need to surrender to something greater than yourself, whether that is the creative process, a stressful situation or the Universe in general. This can be a time when you come to an internal acceptance (or resignation) about what needs to be done in your life. As a result, you might feel a sense of longing, dissatisfaction, disappointment, sadness, depression, fatigue or low energy. Or, you might feel a sense of unburdening relief, inspiration, hopeful possibilities or deep beauty. The next 5-6 months will be a time to probe the spaces in between the facts and the uncertainties – to learn about that force greater than yourself, as well as the (unconscious) part of yourself that longs to merge with it.

Jun.21 – HAPPY SOLSTICE! Sun enters Cancer (until Jul.22)

Happy Solar Return to everyone born in the sign of Cancer! When the Sun enters Cancer, it also marks the Summer Solstice (in North America, the UK, Europe and other places in the northern hemisphere; or the Winter Solstice in Australia and other places in the southern hemisphere). This is the time when we all get to cultivate and nurture the Cancer side of our nature. This includes feelings, needs and nurturing instincts, as well as your connection to home and family, and your most primal sense of belonging. To explore this area of your life, think about your family – are you closely connected to your family-of-origin (the one you grew up with), or do you also have a "chosen family" in adulthood? Who is part of your support system (the people you know you can turn to when you need them)? What people, groups, places or experiences satisfy your need for belonging, which everyone has inside them? Cancer is about our distant past (childhood, ancestry, memories) that influences our current behaviour, motives and methods of getting our emotional needs met. Take this time to find new ways to nurture yourself, to share that nurturing with others, and to ensure that you don't give to others at the expense of not getting what you need.

Jun.23 – Venus opposite Jupiter (17:50 of Gemini/Sagittarius)  (Jun.24 in AU)

This is a time when your desire for pleasure is wide open. Sexual desire could reach out using seduction. Desire for delightful tastes could become overindulgence in foods that may not be in the best interest of your health (e.g., sweets, alcohol, etc.). Spending can be impulsive and easily grow beyond your budget. Money-making opportunities could spill over into workaholic obsession. It might feel like nothing is "enough" and you feel compelled to continually reach out for more and more – a bottomless well of desire. On the other hand, this energy can also bring out your natural beauty and charm in social situations if you are shy or inhibited. If you've done your research and your comparative shopping, this could be the time you make a big purchase. Or you might find the feeling is right to make your move with a love interest and expand your intimate connection with that person. Or perhaps you feel generous and decide to donate your money or talents to a cause that reaches for a higher purpose. Enjoy, but don't blow your budget.

Jun.23 – Mercury-Sun Greatest Elongation as Evening Star (27:01 of Cancer)  (Jun.24 in AU)   ("What's the Shadow?"  Read my articles about Retrograde Cycles.  Read my article about Mercury Retrograde.)

Mercury reaches his greatest elongation from the Sun approximately today. He is as far away from the Sun (from Earth's perspective) and as high in the western sky after sunset, as he's going to get during this period when he is known as the Evening Star. But it not easy to spot Mercury! He's extremely faint, and seen only in a clear sunset sky when it's dark enough, just above the horizon.

Greatest elongation occurs a few days after Mercury enters the Retrograde Shadow. It tends to bring clarity, when thoughts, awareness and decisions may come into sharper focus. It can be a good time to consider your path ahead, as well as to reconsider what you want to carry with you from past. A word of caution, though – thoughts that are clear aren't necessarily the best ones to act on. If you're in an emotional or volatile frame of mind, there's a risk of letting those feelings overwhelm or dilute your mental clarity. It's better to keep mind and feelings in a balanced awareness, with a little more emphasis on objectivity and thinking twice before you act.

Here are the key dates of this Mercury cycle (for North American Eastern Time):

Jun.24 – Venus square Neptune (18:43 of Gemini/Pisces)  (Jun.23 in HAST)

Money, material resources, relationships and pleasure could be subject to confusion, deception, or unrealistic wishful thinking under this transit. It may seem that what you thought you had (love, friendship, pleasure, money, resources) has suddenly disappeared or isn't as dependable as you thought it was. You might feel disappointed, disillusioned, sad or alone, but this is more likely to be a passing phase than a serious crisis. The question is: what are your secret longings and subtle desires that may be operating unconsciously? These could be clouding your ability to relate to people and situations in your life. Old addictions, depression or idealism may surface as way of dealing with feelings. A better outlet would be to channel your feelings and experiences into creativity, beauty, inspiration and compassion; for example, art, music or helping others.

Jun.26 – Mercury enters Leo (until Jul.19)  (Jun.27 in UK, AU)

While Mercury struts through Leo, your creativity and self-expression are flying high! Your communication strives to express more than just facts or information – it wants to convey the dramatic energy that tells a story in larger-than-life proportions! How you perceive and experience life right now can be vivid, dramatic and fun, as you pick up more easily on the expressive and "feel-good" elements of what's happening around you. You may become very creative, inspired and motivated during this time. The downside is that it may also easier to indulge in a mindset that is self-serving, egotistical or overconfident. Your motives are likely to be noble, heroic and full of good intentions, but you could also become so in love with your vision of what's possible that you miss valid criticism or drawbacks. This is a time to enjoy the playful delights of sports, games, humor, fun and children.

Jun.27 – Sun sextile Uranus (05:47 of Cancer/Taurus)  (Jun.28 in AU)

You are more open than usual to spontaneity, surprises and "flying by the seat of your pants!" Your sense of humour and fun are more finely tuned during this transit, as is your ability to break out of old outworn habits. It's a great time to try new things and experiment with something that's out of character for you. In fact, it may be surprising how easy it is to break out of your usual much so that it's good to be careful not to be too reckless under this transit. Just have fun pushing the envelope! You may also find you want things to be spontaneous and new and out-of-the-ordinary so much that it's hard not to feel restless and dissatisfied with ordinary life right now. But remember that trying to plan spontaneity defeats the purpose of the exercise. And if you are hungering for something new but can't seem to find something satisfying, try digging a little deeper to see what is driving that hunger from inside you. You could find surprising answers.

Jun.27 – Sun square Chiron (.5:53 of Cancer/Aries)  (Jun.28 in AU)

Your self-confidence and patience may be a bit strained right now, stretched by the urge to break free of chronic constraints. Motivation and self-esteem may seem to sag and suffer from old problems that you thought were resolved. This is probably because you are seeing "the flaws in the system" that are preventing you from getting the results you want. It will help to take a fresh approach to your situation. You may need to let go of what you think the results "should be" or how they should come to you. Be open to getting what you want in a different form than you were expecting. You may have to work extra hard for results now, especially if it means having to find a different route to success. If it seems like a door of opportunity has closed, look for an unexpected advantage or hidden alternative. This could allow you to tap into other opportunities that wouldn't have been possible otherwise.

Jul.01 – Mars enters Leo (until Aug.18)  (Jul.02 in AU)

Fire meets Fire during this transit! Physical and emotional energy tends to run high and hot. This transit is great for doing work that requires a creative, dramatic, courageous or confident focus. This is also very playful energy that spurs you to throw off inhibition and express your most brilliant self. Sexual energy can be aroused, as well as anger or aggression. Assertiveness may emerge as more confident, edgy and dramatic than usual. If these emotions are based on defensiveness, lack of self-esteem or automatic reactions to unconscious assumptions, your effect could go overboard and come across as arrogant or sensationalist. On the other hand, if you tend to be a "shrinking violet" and find it hard to express yourself openly, this transit could provide some courage, inspiration and motivation to help you break free. To make the most of this transit, find ways to bring out your playful, creative, expressive side.
