Nov.26 – NEW MOON in SAGITTARIUS (04:03 of Sagittarius)

The New Moon in Sagittarius throws a party for planetary ruler Jupiter just before he leaves Sagittarius to begin his new job in Capricorn.

All that Sagittarian Fire energy has everyone dancing around a proverbial bonfire on the beach! Woohoo!! But when the King of the Gods goes into Capricorn on Dec.02, he's likely to have a Jupiter-sized hangover.

So we need to give him a super send-off while he's still in Sag. To set the scene, there's lots passionate Water energy in the New Moon chart, with Mercury and Mars in Water sign Scorpio.

Adding to the Watery presence is Neptune which is Stationary and will be officially Direct less than 24 hours after the New Moon. This is flooding the chart with creative, imaginative, wistful, longing and fuzz-brained overtones.

There's also plenty of grounding with 4 planets in Earth signs, which helps to ensure the bonfire doesn't jump outside the firepit and burn down the whole area. Venus, Saturn and Pluto are in controlled Capricorn, and Uranus (although a reckless rebel at the best of times) is in stabilizing Taurus.

What we don't have is any of the standard planets in Air signs. Mars was the singleton in Air from Oct.24 to Nov.18 while in Libra (with the exception of the Moon's brief visits in Air signs). Mars has now moved into Scorpio, leaving Air signs vacant until Dec.20 (when Venus enters Aquarius).

As a result, you'll need to find alternative ways to tap into and express your thoughts, words, ideas and perceptions. For example, while Mercury is in Watery Scorpio (until Dec.09) your thoughts could come in creative, emotional ways—music, poetry, passionate debate, etc.

Or, with the Sun in Fiery Sagittarius (until Dec.21), it might help to collect new ideas through learning, or to share your knowledge through teaching or writing.

Or, with Venus in Earthy Capricorn (until Dec.20), it may help to organize and plan out your thoughts, intentions and desires, to be more productive and constructive in how you view events happening around you.

He who is best prepared can best serve
his moment of inspiration.
~ Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Speaking of Venus, she is scouting out the workplace ahead of Jupiter. Having just entered Capricorn the day before the New Moon, she is still poised in the doorway at 0° surveying the landscape.

Although they are no longer in the same sign, Venus and Jupiter are still just over 2 degrees apart—well within orb of conjunction (which was exact on Nov.24). As a result, Venus can soothe Jupiter and smooth his transition into—what is for him—a somewhat daunting sign. Jupiter in Capricorn is in its Fall – the sign opposite its Exaltation.

For Jupiter—and for our sense of hope, faith and anticipation—it may feel a bit like a "fall from grace." Jupiter is strong while in Sagittarius, his own kingdom, and to go from that high into the hard reality of Capricorn can, at its worst, feel like a crash landing.

Venus and Jupiter square Chiron

Both Venus and Jupiter are in square aspect to Chiron (90°) as they approach and move from Sagittarius to Capricorn. This suggests the transition from the Sagittarius quest for meaning and truth into the Capricorn mandate for structure, order and maturity might be a somewhat bumpy ride.

Chiron in Aries is a reminder that in a cooperative society we can't always do whatever we want, since circumstances and consequences may make it difficult or impossible. Again, this could accentuate any feeling of disappointment or setback you might experience.

Being Chiron, this might be expressed through health issues, so this is a good time to take care of yourself. It might help to blow off some of that stress through physical activity—just enough to keep from seizing up, not so much that you make matters worse.

You can have many great ideas in your head,
but what makes the difference is the action.
Without action upon an idea, there will be no manifestation, no results, and no reward
~ Don Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom

Thankfully, there's also some impressive potential waiting for Jupiter in Capricorn, if we know how to frame this energy in a positive way.

Therefore, this send-off celebration at the Sagittarius New Moon can stoke Jupiter's—and our—courage, self-confidence, optimism and sense of positive vision. Take a vivid mental snapshot of what this looks like, because it will be invaluable to help get you through the coming year while lofty Jupiter is wading through the Capricorn trenches.

So, here's the deal with Jupiter going into Capricorn. For the last year, with Jupiter in Sagittarius, we've been blessed with an injection of fresh optimism, vision, confidence, and having your faith in humanity (at least somewhat) restored.

No doubt you've also experienced a lot of heaviness and stress through this time – Saturn and Pluto are hard to ignore. Thanks to them, you may have felt a fair bit of doubt, pessimism, discouragement, exhaustion and perhaps even cynicism at times. So, the flashes of Jupiterian Yes-I/we-Can-Do-This have been a saving grace that helps to keep you from getting stuck in the mire.

Now Jupiter is about to join Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn. In one sense, it might seem like Jupiter is going over to the Dark Side of The Force. If Jupiter's Sagittarian optimism is the best thing holding you up these days, you might feel a sad let-down or discouragement.

Sagittarius is a Fire sign – full of its own light show, brilliant, exciting, and larger than life. Look at all those possibilities! What ever could go wrong? It can look so real, it's easy to believe that those shining light promises are a done deal.

Capricorn is an Earth sign – full of hard work requiring elbow grease, commitment and endurance. Not exactly the Sagittarian party Jupiter is used to. So, your first experience of Jupiter in Capricorn might be one of disappointment or feeling like the bubble just burst.

But the jewel in this planet/sign alignment is that when you combine a strong sense of vision with hard tenacious work, it can produce a brilliant, enduring diamond. That's why it's so important to hold a memory of Jupiter in Sagittarius in your heart, so that you can remember what you're doing it all for.

Jupiter in Capricorn takes all that Sagittarian vision and faith and finds ways to manifest it in concrete, authentic ways. It's not enough to merely bask in the idea of a better life or a better world—it must be forged into something that is still there after the initial vision has dissipated and faded into memory. Hence, this coming year is a time to use your hope to fuel your commitment, your faith to give meaning to your endurance, your optimism to be channelled into positive action, and your urge for expansion to be transformed into a slow, steady, developing growth.

So, here's your homework between now and December 2nd. Write down all the positives you can think of from the past year (or since Nov.08.2018, when Jupiter first went into Sagittarius). Go back over your journal and your calendar to spot things you might have forgotten about.

What were the high points of your year? What kind of optimism and hope did you feel, and what events or experiences brought on those feelings? Even if you can't remember details, describe what you remember about these times.

What kind of vision of the future appeared in your mind as a result of those upbeat moments? It might be hope for a new job, or thinking of ways to end world hunger, or insights that turned on the light of understanding in a difficult situation, or fresh ideas about things you can do that make you feel alive.

Write them all down. I mean it—write them down! Don't put it off until later, just do it. Go ahead and do this now. I'll wait...

{Musical interlude}

Okay, now put your notes in that one special place where you put things you don't want to lose and can easily find. (If you don't have a place like this, create one! Then leave a note on your computer or phone to remind yourself where it is.)

This will be invaluable to refer back to through the coming year.

Meanwhile, back to the party. The rest of the planets have brought various contributions to this potluck celebration.

Venus is at the powerful zero degrees of Capricorn, as well as being Out of Bounds by declination. In fact, she reaches the maximum declination for this OOB trip in just 2 days (Nov.28), so she's especially inclined to reach beyond the "normal" bounds—perfect to inspire Jupiter to find positive, liberating ways to buckle down into his new Capricorn job.

Venus and Jupiter trine Uranus

In addition, she quickly makes a trine to rebellious Uranus (exact on Nov.28 – the same day she is the most "out there"). It seems Venus is planting herself in conventional, manifesting Capricorn with a decidedly unconventional mindset!

Venus in Capricorn can manifest as endurance in love, stability in our close connections with others, seeing others in a more realistic way, and/or having a more realistic, responsible attitude regarding money, possessions, resources and values.

In this case, Venus OOB in Capricorn can help us see beyond the merely predictable possibilities and recognize that we are not always bound by the standard ways of doing things. We can develop and fine-tune these areas to become a bit more beautiful, lovely, easy-going and harmonious—but we still need to stay within somewhat realistic limits.

Mars is also very strong right now in Scorpio (being its traditional ruler). Your ability to act and move forward is likely to work best when fuelled by your sense of passion, what you love and desire, and whatever helps you feel empowered.

Mars opposite Uranus

Mars is also opposite Uranus (exact just 2 days ago, Nov.24). This can be a firecracker of a transit! It's a fabulous energy to break free of hesitation, self-doubt, inhibition or procrastination. On the other hand, it can also loosen up your impulsiveness that may or may not be very well thought out and therefore might be more erratic than helpful. Don't be surprised if, when faced with "responsibilities," you are suddenly seized by the intense urge to do something else!

However, this can be a very productive energy, exciting and satisfying, but be careful not to assume it will let you off the hook from meeting your responsibilities and duties. They'll still be waiting for you after the wild ride is done. But it might help to get you started on new projects that can breathe new life back into you (especially if you've been working too hard lately) and return you back to earth feeling refreshed with more breathing space.

Wedge aspect pattern

Venus forms a Wedge aspect pattern with the Mars-Uranus opposition. Venus is the apex of the Wedge triangle, which can provide a creative outlet for the tension of the opposition. Venus is at an auspicious degree (0° Capricorn) and has strong dignity from being in her Triplicity and Term. She is also Out of Bounds and less likely to be overly confined by convention—in all, a very powerful combination! Jupiter is also at the apex, and although a tad on the wide side in orb, Jupiter still has a very strong presence in the Wedge pattern.

Venus, with Jupiter bringing up the rear, is therefore capable of bringing a creative and inspirational, yet productive and stabilizing, focus to the Mars-Uranus impulsiveness and recklessness. The question is: what would you like to do with this firebrand energy? A surprise getaway with your sweetie that can bring your relationship back into balance? Move forward with an exciting but long-term project that you've been putting off? Follow your impulses to find ways to bring a little joy, happiness or contentment into someone's life?

This could be a great energy under which to do holiday shopping, if you follow your instincts and also listen the Capricorn side of Venus warning you not to blow your budget.

The visions we offer our children shape the future.
It matters what those visions are.
Often they become self-fulfilling prophecies.
Dreams are maps.
~ Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space

This can be a time of great excitement and inspiration. Jupiter is riding high in his own sign and is also conjunct the Galactic Centre, which amplifies his revelation that all things are possible if you just have enough faith. The New Moon is also in Fiery Sagittarius, giving a renewed sense of meaning and significance to your ability to focus your faith.

Whatever you put your faith in, that's what's likely to come back to you. This could be a magical kind of process (something that just happens to you), but it can also be because that's what you're expecting and are therefore more open to seeing and acknowledging the things that fit your expectations.

This can feed either positive or negative expectations. For example, if you believe the only way life can get better is to purge everything you aren't comfortable with from your life, you might become more judgmental toward people who disappoint or disagree with you, and thereby experience an increase in people who annoy or trigger you. Jupiter's shift into Capricorn might then seem to confirm your more discouraging expectations.

That said, you feel what you feel, and if you're feeling down or disappointed or weary, the last thing you'd want to do is double-down on a gloomy state of mind. At the same time, you can't just make yourself feel up and cheerful without risking the suppression of feelings that could rebound in subconscious ways.

Try this on for size: acknowledge how you feel and know that it's okay to feel what you feel. But it's not mandatory to act on those feelings. Instead, take your feelings and perceptions as a possibility of what could happen or what might continue for a while, but reserve final judgment to see how it turns out. Everything changes, and even when things get worse it's often because there's a process unfolding that needs to play out before something better can emerge.

Yes, there's some hard work ahead in order to manifest your dreams and hopes. Yes, some of the glitter will rub off that vision of the future in the process of manifestation. That's usually how it works, and it doesn't mean the result isn't a good thing.

Sometimes having faith is little more than "wait and see." Just like it's not a good idea to go grocery shopping when you're hungry, it's not always a good thing to act on the assumption that your worst expectations will be the end result of the current process.

Capricorn offers the ability to reserve judgment and have patience to see what develops. Act according to your hopes and highest expectations, and remember that the Universe still has a say in how it manifests, so it might look different from what's in your mind's eye. And that's okay. Capricorn at its best says, "It doesn't have to be perfect. It's okay to be good enough."

Enjoy the party. Then bring your joy and confidence into the work ahead. You've got this.

Light precedes every transition.
Whether at the end of a tunnel, through a crack in the door or the flash of an idea,
it is always there, heralding a new beginning.

Day to Day Transits for the Next 2 Weeks

Nov.27 – Venus square Chiron (01:32 of Capricorn/Aries)  (Nov.26 in HST, AKST, PST, MST)

You may be forced to make adjustments to relationships and/or finances now, as you face situations in these areas that just don't want to balance out the way you want them to. You may feel a bit like you're in a catch-22 (no-win situation), where the more you try to find balance and harmony, the more you feel like you're chasing your own tail around in circles. This is a time when healing in relationships and financial problems may be difficult to obtain. Harmony in these areas can seem impossible or blocked, yet it is still necessary to keep trying. By trying anyway, it may be possible to find a solution that meets your needs, even if it may not be what you wanted, hoped for or expected. Strive to find a creative solution that draws on your best side.

Nov.27 – Neptune Stationary Direct (15:55 of Pisces; until Jun.23.2020)   ("What's a Station?"   "What does Retrograde mean?"   Read more about Retrograde planets.)

Neptune now turns direct after being retrograde for about 5 months. For up to a week before and after this date, you might feel a bit dreamy, disconnected, depressed, sluggish or scatter-brained. The Neptune energy takes you into a non-rational, intuitive place and can stir up feelings and issues from the unconscious. Vivid dreams could give you insight into situations you have been wrestling with, and your intuitive sensitivity might seem to come out of nowhere. Or you might experience the opposite—your dreams elude you and you feel cut off from your usual intuitive sense. What is happening is that your "right-brain" (intuitive, creative, non-rational, faith-oriented) is passing the torch to your "left-brain" (rational, logical, linear, practical), and you can get caught in the whirlpool of transition. Try not to control the process, but allow it to carry you and point you in a different direction. The learning you have gathered over the last five months or so—related to spirituality, longing, inspiration, creativity, imagination, fantasy, divination and intuition—can now start to be applied more directly in your life over the next few months. It may be possible to channel your experience into a creative form—possibly artistic, but definitely creating something new out of what has been, which can ultimately be healing and uplifting.

Nov.27 – Mercury-Sun Greatest Elongation as Morning Star (16:08 of Scorpio)   (Nov.28 in UK, AU)   ("What's the Shadow?"  Read my articles about Retrograde Cycles.  Read my article about Mercury Retrograde.)

Mercury reaches its greatest elongation from the Sun today, meaning it's as far away from the Sun as it's going to get (from Earth's perspective). Mercury is the Morning Star, meaning it is visible in the Eastern sky just before sunrise, which occurs after Mercury has turned Direct and a few days before it leaves the Retrograde Shadow.

Thoughts, awareness and decision-making tend to be clearer, and your path ahead may be easier to see. It can be a good time to reflect on the information and awareness you've gathered in the last couple of months and finalize plans for how best to act on these. If you were feeling confused or frustrated during the retrograde period, things can make more sense now. Let this be a time of fresh perspective and awareness.

Here are the key dates of the current Mercury cycle (using North American Eastern Time):

Nov.28 – Mercury trine Neptune (15:55 of Scorpio/Pisces)  (Nov.27 in AHST)

Your mind is very open to imagination, dreams and compassion under this transit. This can be a very creative time, when ideas flow like a magical river. It can also be easy to get caught up in yearning and fantasizing about your hidden wishes, although it is possible to channel this into creative expression. (e.g., writing poetry, dancing, wistful music, singing in the shower, whatever!) Listening sympathetically to others' problems may come easily now, and you are more likely to get a compassionate response from others about your own problems. However, it may also be difficult to draw clear and firm boundaries with others, since you are more susceptible to the emotional gravity of others. It is ultimately a time for optimism, hope, creativity and intuition, although it's wise to keep at least one foot on the ground.

Nov.28 – Venus trine Uranus (03:24 of Capricorn/Taurus)  (Nov.29 in AU)

Spontaneity and liberation burst into your relationships, finances, resources and pleasures. You might feel compelled to try something completely different that shakes up the "same-old-same-old" routines you're used to. The upside is that you have the opportunity to break free of some old habits and breathe some fresh air into your life. But the downside could come in the form of impulse spending beyond your budget, or recklessness in your interactions and relationships. Strive to break free of what holds you back from being your true self, without destroying the structure of order in your life.

Nov.30 – Mercury sextile Saturn (17:54 of Scorpio/Capricorn)  (Nov.29 in AHST, AKST, PST, MST)

It can be easier to take a logical, practical approach to problem-solving and decisions now. It's a good time to make plans and work out the logistics of how you're going to get from "here" to "there" in pursuing your ambitions. Or, you may find it's time to bring closure to finished goals, by distilling and systemizing what you've learned in the past several months. This will probably require a bit of effort on your part to make it happen, but the opportunity is there if you choose to take it. This transit can bring mental stability and the ability to apply your mental focus in a practical and grounded way. It may be easier to see things realistically and objectively. Creative energy can become productive and rewarding, if you use it methodically or logically.

Dec.02 – Mars trine North Lunar Node (08:42 of Scorpio/Cancer)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

Today, and up to a few days before and after, you may find that all the lights seem to be green for you to move ahead and take action. This might be a spontaneous impulse to seize the moment, or it could be about taking the next step in a project or process that you've been planning and carefully considering. It could also be a time when your emotions are more easily expressed. There may be someone who is urging, inspiring or rousing you to take this action. It's up to you to decide if this is wise and in your best interest, and if so, the best way to make this happen.

Dec.02 – Jupiter enters Capricorn (until Dec.19.2020)  (Dec.03 in AU)

In Capricorn, Jupiter must make hard decisions, limit its scope and work with concrete conclusions and answers. Since Jupiter is in its Fall in Capricorn (opposite the sign where it is Exalted), this is not an easy job description for Jupiter, which prefers to work with possibilities, speculation, adventure and expansion. Under Jupiter in Capricorn, your leading edge of growth is likely to be aimed more at manifestation than exploration.

At best, this transit can inspire you to bring a visionary, principled, compassionate or optimistic perspective to the way you do business, deal with limitations, assume authority, and make decisions and plans. It can bring a slow, gradual expansion to projects, career or business, as well as envisioning the possibilities and implications of what these could become.

On the other hand, Jupiter in Capricorn might feel like it's throwing dirt on your sacred fire. Capricorn is about dealing with reality, which can seem lacklustre, harsh, oppressive or disappointing to the normally optimistic Jupiter. At worst, you might be susceptible to depression or discouragement. Life could feel like a lot of hard work with mostly dark clouds on the distant horizon. It can be tempting to blame other people or circumstances for your unhappiness, when your situation might simply be due to reality asserting itself.

The lesson of Jupiter in Capricorn is to distil your revelations, hopes and dreams into a more realistic view of what will work and what won't. It is time to pick and choose what's truly important to you, prioritize your best choices and focus primarily (or completely) on your top priorities. This means having to let go of other possibilities, which could be a disappointing but necessary sacrifice. If you try to "have it all," you will be spreading yourself thin and diluting your energy – investing too little energy and time in too many goals, and none of them will flourish. Just like weeding out all but the strongest sprouts in a field of new growth, prioritizing your goals will allow the best of them to survive and thrive.

Jupiter is/was in Capricorn during these times:

Dec.02 – Venus conjunct South Lunar Node (08:43 of Capricorn)  (Dec.03 in UK, AU)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

This is a good time to let go of the "things" you don't need anymore. It's a time to release your creativity and transform them into new resources and assets. This could mean cleaning out your closets and selling the discards in a yard sale, for example. You might decide to change your hair style or something else about your appearance. Perhaps you discover that you're making a different impression on people than you intended, and this leads to a revision of your social skills. Or you could get feedback from someone close to you that challenges you to change your self-image. Something (or someone) that has been prominent in your life – in relationships, pleasure, partnerships, finances, possessions, beauty or appearance – is ready to be let go. You might need to say good-bye to someone you've been close to because the relationship isn't working anymore – or you might find you're able to let go of feelings that have been blocked and give yourself to a connection with someone. You might simply assimilate it into the background where it is no longer "front and centre," or you might need to cut ties altogether. Or, you could be ready to express something that has been brewing for a while, like creative self-expression or giving someone feedback. "Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater" (as your grandmother used to say), but be on the lookout for something that is ready to subside from your priority list.

Dec.03 – Mercury Direct sextile Pluto (21:30 of Scorpio/Capricorn)  (Dec.02 in HAST, AKST, PST, MST, CST)

Penetrating insights and passionate communication are possible under this transit ...although, so is speaking more forcefully than you intend to about things that require a bit of delicacy or discretion. It is also a time when your mental concentration can come together so easily that you become obsessed. You may prefer in-depth discussion to small-talk, and it might feel awkward if you aren't able to explore the depths in your interaction or communication with others. However, you likely have an increased ability to pick up on undercurrents of what's happening around you. This is also a time when you can start to shed and leave behind old worn out perceptions and ways of communicating. You also have an increased ability to take thoughts, ideas and information and transform them into something healing ...or wounding. Choose your words carefully and mindfully. Writing down your thoughts and ideas to capture the energy of this transit can help you gather the deeper qualities.

Dec.03 – Venus sextile Mars (09:27 of Capricorn/Scorpio)  (Dec.04 in AU)

It is possible now to take a balanced approach to conflict, problems and projects that require effort. This can combine both a gentle touch and firm action; sensitivity and forcefulness. Negotiation and interaction with others could be aggressive and determined now, but also balanced with sensitivity and style. Any expressions of anger, frustration or discontent are more likely to be tempered with fairness, moderation and composure. You'll have to apply some effort to get these opposite energies working in sync together, but the potential and opportunity are there more-so than usual now.

Dec.07 – Mercury leaves the Shadow (27:38 of Scorpio; next shadow begins Feb.02.2020)   (Dec.08 in AU)   ("What's the Shadow?"  Read my articles about Retrograde Cycles.  Read my article about Mercury Retrograde.)

Mercury finally leaves the shadow—the part of the zodiac where it was retrograde. This means the confusion, delays and miscommunications of the last 2 months have mostly dissipated and things should be more or less back to normal (whatever that is). The difference is that you now have the benefit of seeing things from a different perspective after having reconsidered, rethought and rehashed information and perceptions over the past 2 months. This gives you more choices than you had before. In fact, you may find that although you thought something was a good idea a month or two ago, you now realize that a different approach, decision or way of understanding it is better. If you've been waiting until Mercury finished with the retrograde cycle before you made a final decision about something or taking action on something, this is the time to take another look at whatever that is. Just don't forget your common sense, and remember that Mercury is only one factor to take into consideration regarding the timing of a decision. Use your best judgment and wisdom.

Here are the key dates of this Mercury cycle (for North American Eastern Time):

Dec.08 – Sun square Neptune (15:57 of Sagittarius/Pisces)  (Dec.08 in HAST, AKST)

Your ideals, hopes and wishful thinking may loom a little too large during this time, making you prone to disappointment and disillusionment. You might want a fantasy or dream to come true so much that you disconnect from the reality that seems to be in the way – only to find that the obstacle was serving a positive purpose after all. Your imagination may be very active now, but not easy to control or balance with reality. However, it can be a very creative time if you're able to harness that imagination for productive use. Unconscious urges and longings may be especially close to the surface, so you have an opportunity to learn more about the hidden forces that drive you (and perhaps distort your view of the world around you). Spiritually, you might discover that your yearning for enlightenment is not the straightforward path you had hoped for, but it can be just as valuable (although disappointing) to discover what is *not* your best path. Emotionally you may feel a bit overwhelmed, discouraged or confused. On the plus side, you have an opportunity to observe a deeper part of you, which is usually camouflaged against the distracting background of day-to-day life. There is tremendous creative, spiritual and healing potential to be found by listening to and working with the inner voices from those depths.

Dec.08 – Venus sextile Neptune (15:57 of Capricorn/Pisces)  (Dec.09 in AU)

Artistry, romance, creativity and faith have the potential to flow freely now. Your creative Muse is whispering in your ear, although it will still take your own elbow grease to turn it into something real. Socially and romantically, things could run smoothly and even a bit magically, so be sure you are clear in yourself about what you really want. This can be a time of blessings and abundance (in all areas of life) ...but there is also the risk of overspending and being overly optimistic in your assumptions about money and relationships. Your natural beauty and warmth can be brought out by this transit, but don't just waste it on creating a façade of outer glamour and charm. Let the essence of your inner beauty and pure spirit shine through your appearance and mannerisms!

Dec.08 – Jupiter square Chiron (01:26 of Capricorn/Aries)  (Dec.09 in AST, NST, UK, AU)

Your sense of wisdom, understanding and spiritual truth may have to face a difficult test under this transit. That test is to look at and acknowledge the ways in which your wisdom is limited or inadequate—not because there's something wrong with it, but because there is only so much in life that can be conquered by optimism, faith and hope. There are some things in life that must be experienced and cannot simply be eradicated. When we're in the thick of this, it can feel like our knowledge and understanding are defective or worthless, even though this is not the case. By embracing those experiences (rather than beating ourselves up for not being omnipotent, or overcompensating with arrogance), it is eventually possible to transcend them. Your wisdom can be expanded and transformed now by a situation that brings you into contact with this truth. It may be an uncomfortable, even painful experience, but this brings the potential to grow spiritually in ways that are not otherwise possible. To get the most out of this transit, strive to find a way to accept that we are all in a state of becoming, and that our imperfections do not subtract from our sacred nature, but merely make it more divinely complex.

Dec.09 – Mercury enters Sagittarius (until Dec.28)  (Dec.08 in HAST)

Communication, ideas, thoughts and perceptual "spark" become expanded in Sagittarius. Your mental focus tends toward a philosophical and spiritual outlook that seeks the highest truth in the broadest context. However, it's not always easy for the conscious mind to assimilate and digest such a vast territory of knowledge, or to find the higher meaning in mountains of raw information. You might feel a bit overwhelmed by trying to take in such a panoramic view of your world, but the gifts from doing so are abundant and inspiring! To get the most out of this transit, try learning something new that expands your horizon. Or pick a situation in your life and imagine that you're looking at it from a mountaintop – what do you see from way up there that you can't see when you're closer to the ground? Just remember that whatever visions and insights you get from doing this, these are SOME of the truths to be found, but not necessarily the only truth. Leave room in your new understanding to remember that every mountaintop shows a slightly different view and that this doesn't make one mountain right and the others wrong.

Dec.10 – Mercury trine Chiron (01:26 of Sagittarius/Aries)  (Dec.09 in HAST)

Your mental focus and communication now get an injection of healing energy. Cynicism and depression may soften now, as you become more receptive to a more optimistic viewpoint. If you have been caught up in escapism or "stinkin' thinkin'" (thinking you're more in control of your impulses than you really are), you may now find some relief and healing. Mental argument and critical "self-talk" can now find some reconciliation and acceptance that brings some peace of mind. You have increased ability to find the right words and understanding to help others with their problems. Compassion and empathy may be more accessible because you can identify your own experiences with what you see in others. You might also find someone who can give you good advice or support about your own problems – possibly a teacher or mentor – or you could become this to someone else.

Dec.11 – Venus conjunct Saturn (19:04 of Capricorn)

The serious structure and responsibility of Saturn combines with the desire for pleasure, beauty and material abundance in Venus. This can be a good time to make concrete plans about financial matters (e.g., investments, budgeting, purchases, etc.), although this will work best if you do some serious research first, rather than simply going for whatever seems to "feel good." This is a time to begin a process of commitment, whether that involves developing your resources to achieve a certain goal, or negotiating the terms of a relationship or partnership. However, in order to clear the way for new commitments to flourish down the road, sometimes old commitments must be brought to a close first. So this may also be a time when previous involvements or plans may come to an end, especially if they no longer fulfil your needs or lack enough potential to reach your desired goals. In a similar way, you might find yourself blocked from being able to move forward in the areas of relationships, finances or pleasures. These areas may require some reworking or reconsideration before you're ready to proceed.
