Oct.31 – FULL MOON in TAURUS (08:38 of Taurus)

The chart for the Full Moon in Taurus tells a dramatic story. Who am I kidding—let's be honest, it looks like a train wreck. And it is our job to find the benefits that can be rescued and used for transformation and healing.

For starters, the chart is strongly dominated by square and opposition aspects (90° and 180°), which are all about conflict, stress, struggle and high-octane energy. This is not an easy chart, with not a lot to offset the intensity.

However, being aware of the great passion inherent in this chart brings an opportunity to strategize and choose how, where, when and why you want to channel that energy.

Moon cnj Uranus, Sun cnj Juno

Uranus is welded to the Moon in conjunction (0°), and opposing the Sun, with a scant 2 minutes of orb. Although the Moon likes to get all warm and fuzzy in Taurus, the sign of her exaltation, getting a giant hug from Uranus is more likely to feel like being cuddled by a porcupine.

The asteroid Juno is also conjunct the Sun and opposite the Moon and therefore also opposite Uranus. Juno (mythologically the wife of Jupiter) is most associated with obligation, loyalty and sacrifice in relationships. On a transpersonal level, we could see this as the principles, groups or causes that you align yourself with, give your fidelity to, and are willing to make sacrifices for.

Venus opposite Chiron

The ruler of Taurus – and therefore ruler of the Full Moon – Venus is tightly opposite Chiron. Venus is strong and resilient in her own sign of Libra, but this opposition puts her (and therefore us) at odds between her natural focus on the well-being of others versus focusing on taking care of ourselves.

Mars is still retrograde (until Nov.13) and well within orb of squaring Jupiter and Pluto, who themselves make their last conjunction the day before Mars' station. So, we may feel impatient, strenuous, forceful and especially sensitive to answering the call to justice (Jupiter) and evolution (Pluto), or judgment that wants to force the world to align itself according to our own beliefs and truth.

Mars Rx square Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto

And last but hardly least, Mercury is stationary in Libra, turning direct on Nov.03 (yes, the day of the US election). This intensifies Mercury's energy, which is like putting him on stage in a loud karaoke bar. In addition, Mercury is exactly square Saturn (within 1° Oct.30-Nov.08), which is like putting him on stage in a loud karaoke bar AND singing all 20 of the most annoying songs ever at the top of his lungs.

Mercury Rx square Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto

Mercury is also square to Pluto and Jupiter. However, these squares don't perfect (become exact) because Mercury stations and turns direct before he reaches Pluto and Jupiter at earlier degrees. Nevertheless, their overlapping orbs are bound to add issues of power balance, justice, fairness and attempts for persuasion to the Mercury-Saturn tension. Decision-making could feel like there are heavy and crucial implications at stake, and with Mercury in Libra it might be extremely hard to make confident or committed decisions.

All of these transits bring a process that uses heavy pressure to transform us – a bit like turning coal into diamonds.

Make no mistake about it – enlightenment is
a destructive process. It has nothing to do with
becoming better or being happier.
Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth.
It's seeing through the facade of pretense.
It's the complete eradication of
everything we imagine to be true.
~ Adyashanti

With the Full Moon chart alerting us to much heavy, tense, volatile aspects, it should be no surprise that it paves the way up to and through the US election. I'd say this Full Moon chart pretty accurately reflects the general atmosphere in the US leading up to Election Day. And I think it's fair to say the rest of the world is also waiting on tenterhooks, nervously chewing their fingernails and watching to see what happens.

Can this chart tell us who will win the election? Maybe, maybe not. Although astrology tells the story of the times, free will is always necessary to actually move through the times, picking and choosing each step that we take. It's the difference between looking at a map of a region versus actually walking through it. For my purposes here, I find it more useful to describe the nature of the astrological energies in a way that offers insight into how you can better understand and work with them.

Certainly the Full Moon being conjunct Uranus points to a highly unusual, perhaps surprising, possibly disruptive situation. Mars retrograde square Jupiter and Pluto points to a volatile conflict of interest that could involve the judicial system and power struggles. They also indicate vehement disagreement over which should be the greater priority – the end or the means; the principles you aspire to versus how you get to a place where those principles prevail. And Mercury being stationary in Libra, and tightly square to Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter, suggests great difficulty determining the final result.

Of course, we don't really need astrology to tell us any of this – we need only check out the news media with their 5-minute news cycle. Or we can scroll through the unending deluge of information, debate, argument and opinions on social media. So, it's no surprise to see such an edgy, nail-biter of a chart immediately preceding such a contentious election.

Therefore, if you're watching this election closely, you can probably expect to feel and observe considerable tension, stress and anxiety in the air for a while. Or, if you love the exhilaration of it all, you can probably expect to feel super excited and possibly over-stimulated for the next while. The New Moon in Scorpio chart looks somewhat easier but not by much. Better keep your stash of popcorn well stocked for a while longer.

So, as Venus and opposing Chiron advise, it's important to take good care of yourself in the middle of the uproar. Don't set yourself on fire with anxiety, rage and upset, but neither bury yourself in pessimism, cynicism or gloom. Venus in Libra knows how important it is to keep a healthy balance.

If you get stuck in one mindset, do something to put yourself in a different perspective: mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. The idea is to remind yourself that there's more to life than the space you've been in. If you're always in high gear, power down for a while (even just a few minutes can help) to let yourself rest and recharge. If you keep yourself in low gear, do something that can energize you – go experience something totally disconnected from what you've been focusing on.

Young Agent K: We need pie.
Agent J: What?
Young Agent K: My granddaddy always said, if you got problems that you can’t solve, helps to get out of your head. Pie, it’s good.
Agent J: Yeah, you know what? We've been doing smart stuff. We've been following clues, doing real police work. It might be time we do something stupid. Something that ain't got nothing to do with nothing. You know what? Now, I want some pie, K. I want some pie. Let's go get some dumb-ass pie.
Young Agent K: Sounds good.

The Full Moon chart isn't a complete disaster. Jupiter and Pluto are sextile Neptune (60°), which brings in some cooperative, creative and calmer energy. Neptune brings in ideals and beliefs, visions of what could be, imagination and dreams.

Neptune sextile Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn

The sextile from Neptune suggests that, when you're feeling worn out, overwhelmed or distressed, it can help to remind yourself of what is important to you, what you believe in, and what you're doing it all for. You don't have to do it all, and especially not all alone.

When you're exhausted from trying so hard to stay strong, keep going, or keep the faith, it's okay to surrender for a while. Find a safe space and just let go. You don't have to carry it all, all of the time. It's okay to set it down and let others carry on for a while. Maybe that means taking time out, or admitting how discouraged you feel, or being honest with yourself about how sad you are, or whatever.

Take care of yourself and give yourself the chance to remember what it's like to just be. Even just for a few minutes – take a breather, take a nap, or meditate. Watch a TV program, sing a song, listen to beautiful music, make art, feed yourself (literally or figuratively), go for a walk in nature.

You get the idea. Get out of your head for a while, which can help you reconnect with the ideas, perspective, vision, faith and inner sense of being that reflect and reinforce who you are. What is it that you hope will result by you staying in that anxious or eager mindset? It's good to take some time out to remind yourself why you're doing it all, but also to remind yourself that there's a "you" that is doing it, and that "you" needs to be taken care of too.

Reality is the leading cause of stress
amongst those in touch with it.

Squares and oppositions are not exactly peaceful, soothing energy, and can sometimes feel like you're being poked with a cattle prod. (Oh joy.) I don't know about you but this whole year has felt like that to me! And after 10 months of it, I feel like one weary little starhead. 2020 has often taken everything I've got—mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually—just to get through from one world crisis to the next. I imagine most of us feel like that.

We knew 2020 was going to be a whiz-bang of a year and it sure didn't disappoint; and it's not over yet! So many heavyweights squaring off with each other – Jupiter conjunct Saturn conjunct Pluto, first conjoined by Mars, then squared by a retrograde Mars. Yada-yada-yada.

At this point, I think a lot of us feel like we're hanging on by our chewed fingernails. The exalted Taurus Moon sends the message that it might be a good idea to slow down, take it easy, don't push the river, and let yourself coast along as much as you can. Take some pleasure in life, as you can. Even when Uranus lights firecrackers under your chair, keep bringing yourself back to your centre, back to being grounded, back to a steady rhythm. On the other hand, Uranus energy might be trying to shake up the ways you have become stuck, so that you can start moving and growing in a healthier way again.

Uranus conjunct the Moon can help ensure you don't become so complacent or lazy that you lose the ability to keep moving. Chiron in Aries opposite Venus wants to make sure you put yourself on your own priority list.

Mars retrograde, also in Aries, pushes you to find new ways to keep moving—at some point—even when you'd prefer to hibernate under the covers for the next 10 years. And his threefold square aspects to Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto demonstrate what isn't working and then pushes you to keep working on it to make it better.

And Mercury retrograde stationing exactly square to Saturn, and also being square to Jupiter and Pluto, wants to give you every chance to open your eyes and take an honest look at yourself, your life and the world around you. Some of it is beautiful, inspiring or reassuring, and some of it is depressing, disappointing and frightening.

Either way, you can't do much with it if you don't see it. So, Mercury will turn direct (Nov.03) and make his way up through the retrograde shadow (until Nov.19) one last time. During this time, your job will be to process what you've seen, what you've noticed, what you're now aware of.

In the same way, Mars will turn direct (Nov.13) and make his final journey through his retrograde shadow (until Jan.02.2021). Here, too, we are challenged to process what we've seen and experienced, how we reacted and how we have been changed by it all. For the next couple of months, your job is to connect the dots with what (you thought) you knew, and finally to integrate what you've learned into your personal perspective of life and your self-image.

Optimism is a strategy for making a better future.
Because unless you believe that the future can be better,
you are unlikely to step up and take responsibility for making it so.

The thing is that all those squares and oppositions can be turned into something positive and strengthening. These stressful aspects aren't just there to mess up your life. ;-) They're designed to motivate you, to get you up off the couch and doing something with that energy—or to alert you to something important that needs to be dealt with or changed. For example, if you're feeling supercharged with anger, conflict, frustration or exasperation, find something constructive or transformative to channel it into. Even something seemingly boring and mundane can at least help you blow off steam.

However, most of these aspects involve Cardinal signs (specifically Aries, Libra and Capricorn), meaning that the natural inclination of their energy is to act, to protect, to react and to produce. Between the Capricorn consortium, and the Aries and Libra planets, the chart is hugely dominated by this energy. Most of us will feel the urge to DO something! And those who aren't may simply be exhausted from all that Cardinal energy or perhaps finding it hard to stay focused and hopeful.

The Full Moon plus Uranus are in Fixed signs (specifically Taurus, and Scorpio) which promote stability, endurance, loyalty and reward. Although much fewer planets are involved, they include the Sun and Moon, which get extra points. So, their contribution is to encourage you to find your centre in the midst of the hurricane that spins around you. It's not likely to be a calm centre, but it is the place of least chaos and greatest ability to choose your next move.

Neptune in Pisces is a singleton in Mutable signs, which usually bring the ability to adapt, integrate and transition between different states. So, in the midst of so much urge to act and change (Cardinal), counterbalanced by the need to slow things down and avoid spinning out of control (Fixed), there is precious little to facilitate a smooth transition through that change (Mutable).

Overall, it may feel like everything is swinging between extremes of urgent action versus slamming on the brakes to slow things down. Your best approach to this energy might be to focus on where you really want to go (literally or figuratively), and then use the slowing-down energy to provide some ballast, methodology, structure and objectivity to help get you there.

So: Pick a goal, pick a destination, pick a result you want to manifest, big or small. Think about your highest principles and the best potential that you feel in yourself. See your path of evolutionary growth stretching out in front of you, and the destination you are aiming for. Then map your route from here to there and take your next step.

I was a little excited but mostly blorft. "Blorft" is an adjective I just made up
that means 'Completely overwhelmed but proceeding as if everything is fine
and reacting to the stress with the torpor of a possum.'
I have been blorft every day for the past seven years.
~ Tina Fey, Bossypants

Personally and collectively in recent years, we have been challenged to go through various parts of our lives, to identify which parts haven't been working well and have been interfering with positive growth. We've had to separate the stuff that's worth saving from the stuff that's past its shelf life. We're called to help the good stuff become more useful and healthier, and to recycle the rotten stuff so that it will fertilize new growth.

If you've managed to prosper and thrive through this year's strenuous job description called Living in 2020, or even if you've just been able to keep up with it most of the time, then congratulations! No doubt, you've found the discipline, courage, focus, and faith in yourself and in life, that have enabled you to use these crazy circumstances to your benefit.

On the other hand, you might feel you haven't really accomplished much this year, or that you've fallen short of what you think you should have done. Don't be hard on yourself – you've managed to get this far. Maybe you've had to fight to survive COVID-19, or struggled to make ends meet without your usual income, or battled to keep from being overwhelmed by depression, anxiety, hopelessness and exhaustion – that's a lot! Give yourself a hug and a pat on the back. If you look closely, you may find that you have been learning new ways to deal with obstacles, lethargy or complication. Or you've had to discover what is really important to you, how to prioritize different needs in your life, and how to keep going through a difficult time.

It can help to take time out to process what you've been going through. Write down what you've experienced in a journal. Talk to a friend, counsellor or spiritual advisor who can help you put the pieces together. Take time to indulge in some self-talk (inside your head or talking out loud), as if you were helping a younger version of yourself—or confiding in an older, wiser version of yourself—to understand what this year has been like. Sing songs or listen to music or watch movies or read books or make art – anything that expresses your experience.

We're heading into some rough road ahead—and we'll get there. Slow down, breathe. Take it one step at a time. Dare to smile. Dare to love.

As always: Stay safe. Stay sane. Stay awesome. The world needs you.

Standing on the Moon, looking up at the Earth, you see that the promise
and the potential of our world is obvious as it is magnificent. And for the people
who live on the green and blue ball, there is no difficulty they cannot overcome,
no solution they cannot grasp, no distance they cannot travel.
Me standing in the valley of Taurus-Littrow is proof of that.

Day to Day Transits for the Next 2 Weeks

Oct.31 – Sun opposite Uranus (08:41 of Scorpio/Taurus)  (Nov.01 in AU)

This transit brings an encounter with the Awakener! This could come in the form of another person or outside situation that shakes you out of your habitual routine and pushes you to try a new approach to your situation. Life may be very unpredictable right now, requiring you to be spontaneous, innovative or independent in the way you respond to it. This could be stressful or exciting! It is actually showing you a new path in the darkness, like a lightening flash in the night. If you feel startled or caught off guard, or confused about what to do next, find your internal centre and try to be open to what the situation is illuminating for you. You now have a chance to shed some old habits and ways that you are stuck, if you can stay centered in the middle of the whirlwind. You may experience revelations – that "ah-ha!!" feeling – which could open up new possibilities and opportunities for you. However, it might feel like you have little choice but to try these new things (rather than freely choosing them). You could find yourself reacting to others with a powerful impulse to throw off the shackles of anything that feels restrictive, to reclaim your independence – although this could also be motivated by a fear of commitment or responsibility too. It is wise to check your own inner motives, feelings and assumptions before automatically dismissing, rejecting or rebelling against other people.

Nov.01 – Mercury Retrograde square Saturn (26:15 of Libra/Capricorn)  (Nov.02 in AU)

Your thoughts, ideas and communication need to become structured, rational and discreet, although this may not be easy to achieve. You may have to work extra hard to get your point across now, since others might be resistant to your ideas or may not be familiar with the basic concepts. It is a time to be clear, objective and down-to-earth in your communication and thinking, but equally important to do this without going overboard and becoming rigid, autocratic or over-cautious. If you find yourself stuck in a "glass half empty" frame of mind, you might be sagging under the weight of melancholy ...Or, it might mean you are coming to terms with some hard realities and decisions and feeling the gravity of the implications. But also check to be sure you're not taking yourself and your situation too seriously. By applying your best efforts, this can be a very productive time, especially with anything involving communication, writing, organising or logic.

Mercury is stationary, turning from Retrograde to Direct, as it squares Saturn, which is likely to intensify the effects of Mercury square Saturn. See Nov.01-06, Mercury Stationary square Saturn, for more.

Nov.01-06 – Stationary-Direct Mercury square Saturn (26:15 of Libra/Capricorn)

Mercury Rx square Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto

Mercury is stationary, turning from retrograde to direct, as it squares Saturn. This could amplify both Mercury's retrograde energy and its stressful aspect to Saturn, in ways that are heavy, demanding or discouraging. You may find communication and information tend to be less than kind, calm or easy-going, especially if what is conveyed is uncomfortable to hear. Certainly, there is a need to be clear, objective and impartial in your perceptions and speech, although it might be or feel sharper around the edges than usual. There might even be a demand to be more precise, accurate, logical and factual than usual, with harsh criticism if beliefs, conclusions, thoughts and decisions don't measure up to certain standards. It may also be a time when you feel especially skeptical or doubtful, particularly regarding information that claims to be accurate and objective. At its best, this transit may push you to tighten up your discipline and perfect your plans and intentions, so that your actions will become more effective, efficient and to the point.

Nov.01 – Venus opposite Chiron (05:46 of Libra/Aries)  (Nov.02 in AU)

You may be extra sensitive to other people's suffering, struggles or dilemmas under this transit. Your own ongoing issues in relationships or finances may undergo a kind of "healing crisis" in which you endure increased problems and must use extra tolerance, compromise or negotiation to keep things from collapsing into a worse state. At the same time, you may be able to reach a new level of acceptance and peace – not necessarily by solving the problems, but by letting go of the struggles that are not as important as you thought and by making the best of the ones that are left. Other people or outside circumstances may give you a push in this direction, which might feel at first like old wounds are being opened up. But this is an opportunity to find new ways to bring healing and balance to old problems, especially using tolerance, compromise and acceptance.

Nov.03 – Mercury Stationary Direct (25:53 of Libra; Direct until Jan.30.2021)  (Nov.04 in AU)  ("What's a Station?"  "What does Retrograde mean?"  Read more about Mercury Retrograde.  Read more about Retrograde planets.)

Mercury finally turns direct! Yippeeee!!!! ;-) But we're not out of the woods just yet. For up to a week before and after today, you may experience mental intensity, confusion, and miscommunications or simply changes in your outlook. After being Retrograde for the last 3 to 3½ weeks, Mercury is now taking a slow turn to resume Direct motion. This period has challenged you to rethink and rehash things that required some fine-tuning or revision. The Direct station can be a time when clearer decisions start to emerge from the issues and struggles you've encountered during the retrograde period. Or, it might turn your perspective around so that you're seeing your situation fresh again.

Over the next couple of weeks, while Mercury is still in the Shadow, your brain may feel a bit like it's gradually waking up after a deep sleep. During this time, you can gradually put into practice the learning and knowledge you've gained from your retrograde "dreams" and moonlight visions. It will take time to get fully back into sync with the Mercury direct energy. So, take it slow, one step at a time, and untangle yourself one strand at a time.

Here are the key dates of this Mercury cycle (for North American Eastern Time):

Nov.04-07 – Moon goes Out of Bounds (22:36 Gemini to 29:44 Cancer. Peaks on Nov.05 at 24N48:54 at 11:09 Cancer)  (Nov.03-06 in HAST, AKST, PST)   ("What does Out of Bounds mean?"   "What is Declination?")

The Moon goes Out of Bounds (OOB) by Declination, during which time your feelings and emotions may move in a different kind of rhythm. One possible effect is that you might feel more disconnected from the world around you; perhaps a bit alone, lonely or isolated. Or, this could be a welcome change where you can let the stresses of the world roll off your back more easily. Or, your emotions could be a bit erratic, extreme or harder to contain. The common thread through these diverse experiences is that your feeling state may reach beyond your usual range of feelings. If you're an artist, musician, writer or other creative person, this can be a very inspiring time as your creativity and imagination could more easily flow into unusual ideas, whims and impulses.

Astrology Reports

A planet goes OOB when its declination is greater than 23:26 (23 degrees and 26 minutes), which is the maximum declination of the Sun, and the Sun defines the "Bounds." The Moon goes OOB twice a month for about 8-9 years at a time (and remains In-Bounds for about 8-9 years in between). Currently the Moon's declination is able to go beyond 23:26 from March 2020 to January 2030, peaking at a maximum declination of 28:42 in September 2025 (called the Maximum Lunar Standstill).

So for now, as the maximum declination of the Moon increases from month to month, so will the strength of the OOB effects. Watch to see how you respond to these times. You can work on finding ways to channel this energy into positive, productive, creative experiences, or use it as an opportunity to take another step in your emotional healing.

Nov.06 – Mercury Direct square Saturn (26:31 of Libra/Capricorn)  (Nov.07 in AU)

Your thoughts, ideas and communication need to become structured, rational and discreet, although this may not be easy to achieve. You may have to work extra hard to get your point across now, since others might be resistant to your ideas or may not be familiar with the basic concepts. It is a time to be clear, objective and down-to-earth in your communication and thinking, but equally important to do this without going overboard and becoming rigid, autocratic or over-cautious.

Nov.09 – Venus opposite Mars (15:21 of Libra/Aries)  (Nov.10 in AU)

Your receptive, diplomatic side is arguing with your assertive, upfront side. The result can be either a battle of wills between Yin and Yang (yours or others'), or a new creative dynamic that brings both into a new balance. This could manifest in the form of relationship issues, financial struggles, or arguments about control. Or, you might feel it is time to take action with plans that have been percolating for a while, especially related to beauty, love, relationships, money, spending and negotiation. If you're usually more comfortable with Yin energy (receptive, diplomatic, beauty oriented), you might feel unusually sensitive to aggressive or forceful energy from others. At worst, you might feel backed into a corner or even bullied by someone who comes across as angry, pushy or (over)enthusiastic. If you're more at home with Yang energy (assertive, action-oriented, direct), you may feel pressured or manipulated to tone down your energy level to make it more socially acceptable. Either way, this is about finding a new cooperative balance that works for both sides, through compromise, negotiation and conflict resolution.

Nov.10 – Sun trine Neptune (18:15 of Scorpio/Pisces)  (Nov.00 in HAST, AKST, PST, MST, CST)

Faith in the bountiful blessings of the Universe is within reach under this transit...but then, so is the fantasy that you will be magically granted anything you wish for. Hope, optimism and imagination spring eternal right now, which can bring some relief from any depression or discouragement you might be feeling. Your creativity can become very inspired under this transit. Your sense of self could also get an infusion of uplifting vision. And you experience a sense of mission, feeling that you are truly a Child of the Universe. There is potential to lift you out of the ordinary and into the sublime – spiritually, creatively, romantically or compassionately. Enjoy it while it lasts, but before you make changes based on what might feel like a permanent condition, remember that this is mostly a temporary influence and you will still have to live within the bounds of the physical world after it passes. Don't make overly optimistic promises now, that you will have to fulfil later when the euphoria wears off.

Nov.10 – Mercury Direct enters Scorpio (until Dec.01)  (Nov.11 in AU)

Cunning communication and insight are at their peak, as Mercury skulks through Scorpio. It's a time for unearthing secrets and delving deeply into the psychological Shadow (Carl Jung's term for the unconscious parts of ourselves that we don't want to or know how to face). There is opportunity for healing and grounding now, but you may have to resist the temptation to manipulate others to control that process. Your awareness of the undercurrents around you could be increased...or you might stir up those undercurrents in others without intending to, by blurting things out in a blunt or harsh way. This transit presents an opportunity to learn new ways to wield words with the skill of a surgeon – to heal and remove what is toxic, not to wound or retaliate. Use it wisely. If you are not crystal clear with yourself about your motives and feelings when communicating with others, your unconscious or hidden agendas could seep through and cause hurt when that was not your intention.

Nov.12 – Jupiter conjunct Pluto (22:51 of Capricorn)  (Nov.13 in AU)

This is the final conjunction of Jupiter and Pluto for another 12-13 years. There are 3 passes in total of this transit: Apr.04, Jun.30 and Nov.12. Of the five Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto multi-conjunctions that has haunted us through 2020, this is the second-last one of the bunch. The final conjunction will be Jupiter and Saturn on Dec.21, which suggests a new beginning of vision, intention, trajectory and motivation on both personal and collective levels.

For this transit, you are being challenged to embrace and accept both the best and the worst in yourself and in life. Jupiter brings a love of freedom, knowledge, potential and justice. Pluto brings a love of power, domination, transformation and the need to accept things beyond your control. When these two planets join forces, you can get everything from learning to use power in an ethical, principled way, to finding a new philosophy of life based on your true inner passion, to having a crisis of faith as you are forced to reconsider what you believe and make adjustments according to how your life has changed in the last 13 years (since the last Jupiter-Pluto conjunction).

This rare transit only happens about every 12-13 years. Were you, or was someone you know, born under this transit? 1906 (Gemini), 1918 (early Cancer), 1931 (late Cancer), 1943 (early Leo), 1955-56 (late Leo), 1968 (Virgo), 1981 (Libra), 1994 (Scorpio), 2007 (Sagittarius), 2020 (Capricorn).

During the three Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions this year, the asteroid Pallas has been tightly conjunct them as well (always less than 1° orb). Mythologically, Pallas was the young friend of Athene who accidentally killed her, and in her grief she took Pallas' name as her own and honoured her. Astrologically, asteroid expert Demetra George associates the asteroid with the characteristics that distinguish the mythological Athene – creative intelligence, social justice, the arts, and unconventional (or struggles around) sexual identity.

At this final pass of Jupiter and Pluto, Pallas-Athena is just one teensy-weensy minute of orb from them. You can't get much closer without a laser-precision shoehorn. The overall effect is Pallas being woven into the Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions stands out in the extreme rise of calls for social justice this year. In addition, creative intelligence has been essential for developing the research, treatment and prevention strategies against COVID-19. This final triple conjunction of Jupiter, Pluto and Pallas suggests that their combined energy are vital in the continuing fight for public health, and can be brought into focus in the final push-off going forward.

Nov.13 – Venus trine North Lunar Node (20:10 of Libra/Gemini)  (Nov.14 in AU)  ("What's a Lunar Node?")

Today, as well as up to a couple of days before and after, you may feel a bit more comfortable in your own skin and in the social world around you. In fact, interactions you have with others may prove fruitful to help you move further along your path toward whatever destination you're pointed in. You might be in a position to do this for someone else, as well. It may be a good time to spend or save money and other resources. However, it's still wise to do a reality check to make sure both side of the exchange are satisfied that you got as much as you gave.

Nov.13 – Mars Stationary Direct (15:13 of Aries; Direct until Oct.30.2022)  (Nov.14 in UK, AU)  ("What's a Station?"  "What does Retrograde mean?"  Read my article about Mars Retrograde.  Read more about Mars Retrograde.  Read more about Retrograde planets.)

Mars finally turns Direct!! Woohoo!! We're not out of the heat yet, since Mars still has to burn his way through the third and final passes of the square aspects he has made with Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in the last 3+ months. However, we're turning a corner now, and being older and wiser from our experience these past months, we now get to connect the dots and understand better what we've been going through.

For up to a week before and after this date, when the Mars station remains strong, your energy could feel intense, erratic, volatile or liberated. After being retrograde for the last 10 weeks or so, the energy that has been coiling during that time now begins to release. Low energy will likely return: suddenly, erratically, forcefully or gradually. It's possible you may reach a point of decision about issues you have been struggling with in the past 2-4 months.

If you've been working on preparing or planning for a new project, the station could begin the launch process. If issues about anger, sexuality, assertiveness or courage have been a thorn in your side for the last few months, this begins the phase when you will start to apply what you've learned and cultivated. It could begin with a resolution to your frustrations, or possibly bringing the problem to the surface where you will need to deal with it directly.

Depending on how constructively and therapeutically you have been working with these issues, this resolution could be a positive time of self-empowerment, or it could produce an explosion of the urge to control and force others to bend to your will (or someone else behaving that way around you). Over the coming two months, while Mars is still in the Shadow, you will apply and integrate the energy and learning that has been gathered and is now being released.

Here are the key dates of this Mars cycle (for North American Eastern Time):

Nov.14 – Sun sextile Pluto (22:54 of Scorpio/Capricorn)  (Nov.15 in AU)

Your sense of purpose is potentially strong now, being able to tap into a deeper level of energy and determination. Your personality may be more forceful now, which can be great if you need to make a strong impression but perhaps not so much in situations requiring delicacy or subtlety. You have greater ability to see below the surface of things now, although it may not be as easy to put it all together and understand what it all means. It can be possible to unearth secrets or get at the core of unconscious patterns (yours and others'). However, you'll have to work to harvest the fruit of these potentials, and some of the insights and benefits may not become apparent until later.

Nov.14 – Sun sextile Jupiter (23:14 of Scorpio/Capricorn)  (Nov.15 in NST, UK, AU)

This is a time when your understanding of the Big Picture and your place within it has the potential to click into place. As a result, your confidence and self-esteem can be quite high right now. Your ability to see opportunities and possibilities more clearly can produce an experience of being "lucky." Your insight into life and the world around you may be especially bright, optimistic and inspired. This is a "feel-good" transit, when your sense of self can seem to expand and become free. You may feel especially connected to spiritual energy during this time. Just be careful that all this self-assurance and "knowing" doesn't backfire, by overestimating the extent of your knowledge or underestimating the reaction of your audience. It is possible to become a bit self-indulgent under this transit, so be careful not to overdo it. Beyond a reasonable caution, this is a transit to enjoy!
