October 2006
Where could you use a tune-up? Are
there areas in your life that have become a little too ambiguous
or unfocused? This lunar cycle encourages you to sharpen your
focus, strengthen your resolve and prepare yourself for a
transition!
Virgo is about perfecting yourself and
everything around you. It's about becoming the best you can be.
You attend to your body's needs so that you are in the best
health you can achieve. You give your attention to detail in
whatever you do, so that you can create the best results you are
capable of. You contribute your abilities, skills and care in
service toward the betterment of the people and places around
you.
To do these things, it helps to follow
a structured formula. Let go of those things that block or
interfere with what you're trying to achieve. If you can't let
go of them, find ways to work around them. Or look for ways to
incorporate them into your vision. Or break the problem down
into smaller ones that are easier to tackle.
Letting go of whatever holds you back
can free up a lot of energy. Instead of fighting against the
blocks, this energy can be applied directly toward where you're
going. This is therefore a transitional time, when releasing
your attachment to things that hold you back can result in a
shift of energy that brings a forward thrust.
Letting go involves sharpening your
focus. Decide what your priority is and cut away whatever isn't
about that priority. Or take what is of lesser importance and
place it on the back burner for a while. Although you might
think that letting go of these things might diminish your life
or yourself in some way, you are just as likely to find that the
liberated energy gets you where you want to go a lot faster and
more efficiently. Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize!
The transits to your natal chart (how
the planets align now with your birth chart) typically reveal
where your current priorities lie. Major transits to your chart
show what parts of your life and your psyche are being
activated. For example, if you have planets around 17-20 degrees
of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), then the
Saturn-Neptune-Jupiter T-square is having a very powerful effect
on your chart and your life.
This aspect configuration dominates
the Solar Eclipse chart, challenging us to understand not just
our practical priorities (e.g., budgeting or responsibilities)
but also our spiritual and psychological priorities. For
example, you might be wrestling with how to integrate your
ideals or beliefs into your everyday life, career or into your
role as an authority figure (e.g., parent). How you prioritize
your practical necessities with your higher ideals and vision is
an important transition you are entering into now. To learn more
about how the current transits are activating your chart and
your life, you can book a personal astrology reading with me.

This Solar Eclipse takes place in the
last degree of Virgo. The
Sabian Symbol
for this degree is: "Having an urgent task
to complete, a man doesn't look to any distractions." It speaks
of single-mindedness that is so focused that nothing can deter
you from your goal. The upside of this is the dedication,
clarity and mental stamina that can help you prioritize and
forge ahead.
The downside is that if you're too
sharply focused, you'll miss other things that could trip you
up. Or you might become so austere and hard on yourself and
others that you burn yourself out and become "lop-sided" rather
than well-balanced. The idea is simply to get out of your own
way so that your humanness can flourish in a healthy way, or to
help others do the same – not to turn yourself or others into
robots who only follow the formula.
By the Full Moon on Oct.06, it will be
time to start taking action and to aim that newly prioritized
focus at your chosen target.
This is not just another New Moon—it
is also a Solar Eclipse! As a New Moon, it will unfold through
the coming 4 weeks (until the next New Moon on Oct.22). As a
Solar Eclipse, it also initiates a longer-term phase of
development over the coming 5-6 months (until the next Lunar
Eclipse on Mar.03.2007). A Solar Eclipse is a New Moon that is
so precisely aligned that the Moon moves right across the disc
of the Sun. Unfortunately, you have to be in the right place to
be able to see it. This particular eclipse is only visible in
the southern Atlantic Ocean and from the surrounding land from
South America to Africa and Antarctica.
This is not only a Solar Eclipse, it
is also the second New Moon in Virgo this year! (The first was
Aug.23) This is a fairly
rare event to have two New Moons in the same sign, one right
after the other. It only happens about every few years. It's a
little like a "Blue Moon" only different. (Read more about
Blue
Moons.)

Sep.23, 12:03
AM EDT – AUTUMNAL EQUINOX - Sun
enters Libra (until Oct.23) (Note: In
North America, the Equinox is technically Sep.22 if you're west
of the Eastern time zone)
("What is the
Equinox?")
Happy Solar Return to all Libras! And
Happy Equinox to all of us! While the Sun is in Libra, it brings
experiences into our lives that focus us in the areas of love,
close relationships, one-on-one interaction, diplomacy,
negotiation, strategy, fairness, equilibrium, balance, harmony
and beauty. This time also marks the point of equal balance
between day and night -- the Autumnal Equinox. In the Northern
Hemisphere, the nights now become longer than the days, and in
the Southern Hemisphere, the days become longer than the nights,
until the December Solstice. Balance is the key concept here!
What is out of balance in your life? How can you negotiate or
strategize to bring that area of your life back into harmony?
Libra encourages you to balance your life in diplomatic,
discreet, "win-win" ways. But if that's not possible, it will do
it aggressively (creating conflict in order to break the
stalemate of the imbalance) or manipulatively (people-pleasing
to co-dependently get its way). Thus, Libra is known as both the
peace-maker and the war-maker. If you find yourself
instinctively trying to smooth out conflict -- or instigate it!
-- take a step back and ask yourself if that is your best choice
in the situation. Just don't get stuck in Libran indecision!
Make your choice and then see if it brings what you want.

Sep.23 –
Mercury trine Neptune (in Libra/Aquarius) (17:22)
Your mind is very open to imagination,
dreams and compassion under this transit. This can be a very
creative time, when ideas flow like a magical river. It can also
be easy to get caught up in yearning and fantasizing about your
hidden wishes, although it is possible to channel this into
creative expression. (e.g., writing poetry, dancing, wistful
music, singing in the shower, whatever!) Listening
sympathetically to others' problems may come easily now, and you
are more likely to get a compassionate response from others
about your own problems. However, it may also be difficult to
draw clear and firm boundaries with others, since you are more
susceptible to the emotional gravity of others. It is ultimately
a time for optimism, hope, creativity and intuition, although
it's wise to keep at least one foot on the ground.

Sep.24 – Jupiter square Neptune (in
Scorpio/Aquarius) (17:21)
This can be a time when you may have
to question your belief system and philosophy of life. You are
challenged to examine the ways that you use theory, speculation,
wishful thinking and blind faith to justify your opinions and
beliefs. There is a difference between the principles, opinions,
attitudes and spiritual perspectives that we hold dear versus
our personal, intimate experience of the vast Universe that
shapes and gives rise to our beliefs. This transit (which only
happens about every 6 years) can show how your beliefs, opinions
and attitudes are misinformed, misguided or no longer fulfil
your spiritual needs. You might come face to face with
misconceptions you have held and realise that you have grown
beyond your old viewpoints. You might find yourself
disillusioned by something or someone you had placed a lot of
faith in. Although this may bring deep disappointment, it also
clears the way to see a higher, clearer truth. Faith that is
founded only on wishful thinking or exaggerated optimism may
make you more vulnerable to deception and poor judgment, so it
is wise to do a reality check about major decisions with a
trusted friend, mentor or expert. This can also be a time when
you are challenged to expand your sense of spirituality, meaning
and understanding of life to include more of your subject
personal experience, rather than relying on conventional wisdom,
doctrine or interpretation. If you have been drifting away from
living according to your morals, ethics and principles, this may
be a time when you become aware of the need to bring your
choices and actions more in line with these. This is the last of
three passes—Jan.27,
Mar.16
and Sep.24—during which this long-term process of discovery and
exploration has unfolded.

Sep.25 – Venus
square Pluto (in Virgo/Sagittarius) (24:12)
Relationships and interactions are
likely to be deep, intense and transformative under this
transit. The same goes for your sense of beauty, and your
material and financial dealings, which may require you to delve
far deeper than usual to discover the truth under the surface of
things. You may encounter the dark shadow of your desires -- the
obscure, secret or unconscious hunger that hides underneath the
"politically correct" face you show to the world (and to
yourself. This is a challenge to be resolved in some way. It
might bring out conflict rooted in envy or jealousy, if someone
has something (or someone) that you feel you are entitled to.
Or, it might prompt you to reach very deep into your soul to
find your inner beauty and value. You may be challenged to
develop empathy or empowerment about something that initially
seemed undesirable, unforgivable or scary. This transit can show
you the problem areas that need to be transformed and healed.
And seeing these more clearly can be a catharsis that sets that
transformative healing in motion.

Sep.25 –
Mercury sextile Saturn (in Libra/Leo) (20:50)
It can be easier to take a logical,
practical approach to problem-solving and decisions now. It's a
good time to make plans and work out the logistics of how you're
going to get from "here" to "there" in pursuing your ambitions.
Or, you may find it's time to bring closure to finished goals,
by distilling and systemizing what you've learned in the past
several months. This will probably require a bit of effort on
your part to make it happen, but the opportunity is there if you
choose to take it. This transit can bring mental stability and
the ability to apply your mental focus in a practical and
grounded way. It may be easier to see things realistically and
objectively. Creative energy can become productive and
rewarding, if you use it methodically or logically.

Sep.27 – Sun
Trine Chiron (in Libra/Aquarius) (04:33)
This is a time when you may find that
your recent efforts to mend and heal the chronic struggles in
your life start to come together. You likely have the confidence
now to try new solutions, or at least to approach problems from
a different angle that sheds new light on the situation. Some of
this progress may come from daring to walk your own path, or
from finding the courage to face the hidden shadow of your
worries and weaknesses (the hidden benefit that those worries
give you). There may be a variety of different struggles and
wounds in your life that could benefit from this kind of
healing, although it can be tempting to let this transit pass by
without taking advantage of it. Strive to reach a midpoint
between merely dipping your toe in troubled waters and thinking
that is enough, versus jumping in the deep end and marinating in
it.

Sep.27 –
Mercury sextile Pluto (in Libra/Sagittarius) (24:13)
Penetrating insights and passionate
communication are possible under this transit ...although, so is
speaking more forcefully than you intend to about things that
require a bit of delicacy or discretion. It is also a time when
your mental concentration can come together so easily that you
become obsessed. You may prefer in-depth discussion to
small-talk, and it might feel awkward if you aren't able to
explore the depths in your interaction or communication with
others. However, you likely have an increased ability to pick up
on undercurrents of what's happening around you. This is also a
time when you can start to shed and leave behind old worn out
perceptions and ways of communicating. You also have an
increased ability to take thoughts, ideas and information and
transform them into something healing ...or wounding. Choose
your words carefully and mindfully. Writing down your thoughts
and ideas to capture the energy of this transit can help you
gather the deeper qualities.

Sep.30 – Venus
enters Libra (until Oct.24)
Venus glides like a graceful model
through her own sign of Libra, giving you the opportunity to
expand your interactive style, cultivate diplomacy, beautify
your surroundings, schmooze with social connections, and
discover a new fashion statement. Find something beautiful,
balanced or harmonious to appreciate or do during this time. You
might consider visiting an art gallery, or watch a romantic
movie, or listen to music that moves you into a peaceful place
inside. You might feel drawn to going shopping for beautiful
clothes or items to decorate your home. It can also be a good
time to negotiate agreements with people, in a way that is fair
and is focused on a win-win solution. Do something to celebrate,
express and discover your inner and/or outer beauty. Find new
ways to balance your own interests with those of others, which
generates good will and harmony.

Oct.02 –
Mercury enters Scorpio (until Dec.08)
Cunning communication and insight are
at their peak, as Mercury skulks through Scorpio. It’s a time
for unearthing secrets and delving deeply into the psychological
Shadow (Carl Jung’s term for the unconscious parts of ourselves
that we don't want to or know how to face). There is opportunity
for healing and grounding now, but you may have to resist the
temptation to manipulate others to control that process. Your
awareness of the undercurrents around you could be
increased...or you might stir up those undercurrents in others
without intending to, by blurting things out in a blunt or harsh
way. This transit presents an opportunity to learn new ways to
wield words with the skill of a surgeon - to heal and remove
what is toxic, not to wound or retaliate. Use it wisely. If you
are not crystal clear with yourself about your motives and
feelings when communicating with others, your unconscious or
hidden agendas could seep through and cause hurt when that was
not your intention.

Oct.03 – Venus trine Chiron (in
Libra/Aquarius) (04:28)
Healing and rebalancing are possible
now, especially in the areas of relationships, finance,
resources and values. Any problems that have persisted in these
areas lately could benefit from an influx of helpful and healing
resources now. Relationships and interactions of all kinds can
benefit now, since it can be easier to see the beauty and value
in others whom you might usually dislike or feel ill at ease
with (or they with you). Negotiations and strategic efforts to
resolve conflicts may go smoothly now, especially when you
balance the results in everyone's interests. You may also be
able to attract what you need to heal your wounds (physical,
psychological, spiritual, etc.). Like it says in the "Serenity
Prayer," you may now find it a bit easier to accept that which
you cannot change, while finding you make progress with the
things you can.

Oct.04 – Mars
trine Neptune (in Libra/Aquarius) (17:12)
This transit can bring a mystical,
imaginative, compassionate aura to Mars' normally direct, fast,
aggressive, self-focused energy. You may feel inspired to act on
faith, confront with compassion, and react gently. On the other
hand, it can be much easier to be motivated by something that
turns out not to be what you thought it was. Much can depend on
how impulsive your actions are and whether they are based on
preplanning and research. We may tend to see our actions as
righteous and justified. Creative energy is usually strong,
whether this is used literally in the arts or in finding
creative solutions to conflicts and problems. Our anger and
aggression may be expressed in a way that is compassionate and
intuitive, although our assertive edge might also be blunted a
bit too much. It might help to think of the snake in the old
parable -- even if you choose not to bite if someone steps on
your tail, it doesn’t mean you can't hiss.

Oct.05 –
Mercury square Chiron (in Scorpio/Aquarius) (04:27)
Your mental focus and perceptions may
feel a bit strained right now. You could find yourself locked in
a struggle of indecision that stems from a "glass half empty"
versus "glass half full" dilemma. It may be difficult to stay
objective and evenly balanced in your perspective, but by
working with this you could also find a new mental focus that
gives you increased clarity. It might be tempting to sink into
cynicism as a way to deal with what seems like a no-win
situation. On the other hand, this transit could bring your
mental perspective to a kind of "healing crisis" that forces you
to get a better grip on the ideas, communication and frame of
mind that have been problematic for you. Instead of reaching for
extremes (hoping this will clarify the path in front of you), it
will help more if you can take a few steps back to allow all the
conflicting and out-of-sync elements to coexist together --
creative paradox. If you have been in denial about something,
this could be a turning point that allows you to grapple with
the complex reality of your situation.

The Full Moon in Aries
shines brightly in the sky this month, particularly
because it is the fruition of the Solar Eclipse that
happened just 2 weeks ago. The Full Moon always seems to
be brightest around the Eclipses. The potent force of
Aries loves this! Aries is like the seed whose potential
is set in motion, initiating new beginnings. Life IS!
Now all things are possible!
But we don't always know
what exactly has begun. In fact, it is impossible to
know precisely what has been set into motion. We only
know something has shifted, something has changed. We
sense a fresh breeze of potential, new hope, new
possibilities. How do we react to this?
That's where a sense of
adventure and enthusiasm comes in handy. The power and courage
and sheer "chutzpah" that comes from
Aries—from the Aries in each of us, not just those born under
this sign—allows us to meet whatever new challenges lie before
us. There is a new journey ahead, and we know not where it will
lead. Not yet anyway. And like the Fool Tarot card, we may be
heading toward the best thing that ever happened to us...or we
might be about to walk off a cliff edge.
That's the risk we take
when we embark on something new. Aries is not for the
faint of heart! But Aries does ask that we move forward
with an open heart. The Aries point in the Zodiac is the
transformational point where the old becomes new again.
The more baggage we carry from the old—from what
was—into this new beginning, the less pure that new
beginning will be.
Yet, we are human, not gods. Our
"divine" nature has not yet matured enough to be perfect. And
our human nature is, by nature, a cyclical spiralling force that
revisits what was in a whole new way. And each time we recycle
our lives, we scoop off another layer that brings us closer to
our core, closer to the essence of who we are deep inside.
Aries is the facet of our human
nature that lets go of the old and embraces the new. Aries is
the part of our journey that moves forward into the new, leaving
behind what it can and carrying what it can't.
The New Moon that initiated this
lunar cycle 2 weeks ago spoke of endings and letting go of the
old in order to make room for the new. This has now evolved into
a Full Moon in Aries—the sign of new beginnings. We are entering
into something new and exciting, filled with potential, which
has evolved out of the old. But because the New Moon that kicked
off this lunar cycle was also a Solar Eclipse, this new
beginning has far reaching implications! The things we initiate
now will evolve over the coming year and become something far
greater and more complex than they first seem.
The Full Moon reaches exact at
13 degrees of Aries. The Sabian symbol for this degree is a very
potent one: "A serpent coiling near a man and a woman." This
image immediately brings up an association with the Adam and Eve
story from the Old Testament, although this Sabian symbol is not
usually interpreted in religious terms about temptation or
disobedience. Rather, it is about the polarization that happens
in how we relate to others, and how we balance our differences.
Dane Rudhyar writes in An Astrological Mandala , his brilliant book on the Sabian symbols:
"There must be a polarization before there can be fulfillment."
In other words, in order to find balance we need to embrace both
ends of the extreme. We tend to do this through relationship,
where we are often attracted to someone who is our polar
opposite—they have what we feel we do not, and vice versa.
Through our interaction with the other person, we grow to
balance those traits within ourselves as well.
Aries is not
particularly known for its ability to find balance with
others. In fact, Aries tends to be seen as so
autonomous, independent and focused on one's own drives
that in its extreme form it can lead to egotism,
self-absorption and a lack of awareness of others.
Libra, on the other hand, is the sign opposite Aries and
tends to be associated with balance, diplomacy and
connection with other people. In its extreme forms,
Libra can become so focused on others that one's own
needs and priorities are neglected.
The Full Moon in Aries is rooted
in a Venus-Sun-Mars conjunction in Libra, which is very
significant. It means that while we are focused "out there" on
new possibilities and going after what we want, we must also
balance this with a sense of harmony, diplomacy and fairness to
all concerned. So the Sabian symbol about the balance of
opposites in order to embrace the whole is very fitting and
reflective of other planetary factors at the time of the Full
Moon.
So this is a time to balance the new
with the old and one's own desires with the needs of others. It
is a time to begin a journey of finding a new kind of balance
between Self and Other, whether that Other is a person or the
Universe itself. This journey will evolve over the coming months
into a more complex and therefore more complete connection
between yourself and the rest of the Universe. The future begins
with one step. The time is now!

Mercury now enters the area of Zodiac
where it will later go retrograde (Oct.28/29-Nov.17/18). During
its retrograde cycle, Mercury travels through the same span of
the Zodiac three times—once direct (forward), then retrograde
(backwards), then direct again. This means there is a more
involved process of development involved with things that
Mercury affects—ideas, thoughts, frame of mind, mental focus,
and the collection, exchange, analysis and organisation of
information. Also affected are all forms of communication—email,
the Internet, letters, the media in general, books and
magazines, as well as public transit (buses, trains, etc.) and
neighbourhoods.
The situations that are developing
over the next 2 weeks (leading up to when Mercury actually goes
retrograde) are likely to require further research,
consideration and discovery over the next couple of months.
Expect increasing changes in your plans, disrupted
communication, and new information coming to light that may not
fit conveniently into what you were expecting. If you must make
important decisions during this time, try to build some
flexibility into your plans to allow for later changes. Or, if
possible, you may want to delay final or irrevocable decisions
until well after Mercury goes direct (Nov.17/18).
Oct.10 – Sun Trine Neptune (in
Libra/Aquarius) (17 LI/AQ 08)
Faith in the bountiful
blessings of the Universe is within reach under this
transit...but then, so is the fantasy that you will be
magically granted anything you wish for. Hope, optimism
and imagination spring eternal right now, which can
bring some relief from any depression or discouragement
you might be feeling. Your creativity can become very
inspired under this transit. Your sense of self could
also get an infusion of uplifting vision. And you
experience a sense of mission, feeling that you are
truly a Child of the Universe. There is potential to
lift you out of the ordinary and into the sublime --
spiritually, creatively, romantically or
compassionately. Enjoy it while it lasts, but before you
make changes based on what might feel like a permanent
condition, remember that this is mostly a temporary
influence and you will still have to live within the
bounds of the physical world after it passes. Don't make
overly optimistic promises now, that you will have to
fulfil later when the euphoria wears off.

Oct.10 – Mercury trine Uranus
(in Scorpio/Pisces) (11 SC/PI 27)
Unusual ideas, flashes
of insight, and seeing unexpected possibilities, are all
part of this transit. You may find it easier to be
open-minded right now, especially about insights that
have eluded you. Your ability to see beyond your usual
horizon of perception can bring visionary brainwaves, as
well as a fun sense of humour. You might be inspired to
experiment with something new or do something out of
character. You might have an impulse to break free of
old habits or constraints. This can be a very liberating
transit that opens your mind to new possibilities and
ideas. However, be careful that you don't become so
liberated and spontaneous that you become erratic, hyper
or reckless. Words may come tumbling out of your mouth
before you've had a chance to consider their wisdom, or
you might find yourself talking non-stop and
interrupting, creating a bit of awkwardness in those
around you. On the other hand, you might also find the
clarity and vision that gives you the words to speak
your truth with new conviction. It's a great time to do
some writing or other form of self-expression,
especially if it's spontaneous or involving technology.

Oct.12 – Mars sextile Saturn
(in Libra/Leo) (22 LI/LE 28)
There is an opportunity
to harness the energy of willpower using practical
discipline. Your physical and mental energy are likely
to be stable and enduring, or else they can become this
way more easily than usual by applying a sustained focus
of effort. This is a great transit if you need to be
productive or to make progress in a goal that you are
working toward. The thing to watch out for is a tendency
to be over-cautious to the point where you get stuck in
the planning stage and don't get much done. Or, you
might try to rush into the production phase before your
plans are fully formed. This transit works best when
these areas are brought into balance.

For up to a week before and after this date, you may
feel a bit like you're caught between worlds—the
spiritual versus the physical, the mental versus the
emotional, or the outer objective world versus your
inner subjective experience. Chiron has been retrograde
since May.08, giving us time to assess the places in our
lives that need healing and to discover the ways that we
might be wounding ourselves or others. This includes
physical health issues, emotional vulnerability and
mental perspectives that create more problems than they
solve. As Chiron turns direct, everything we have
learned over the last five months becomes ready to be
applied over the coming three months (while Chiron is
still in the Shadow). Right now, you might find you
reach a decision or turning point about issues you have
wrestled with since May concerning goals, career,
expectations or authority. If these issues have been
stressful, this might come out now in the form of health
problems, so it's a good idea to be gentle yet
disciplined with yourself in this area. It could be a
time of ambiguity, feeling like you're caught in a
whirlpool that mixes up possibilities with limitations.
Or, you might experience some clarity, as the
paradoxical coexistence of realities and potentials on
the path before you come into clearer focus. Either way,
it is a time that can be magical because of its ability
to bridge the gap between what is and what might be.

Oct.13 – Venus trine Neptune
(in Libra/Aquarius) (17 LI/AQ 06)
This can be a time of
romance, creativity, and a sense of oneness with the
natural beauty of all that exists in the world. On a
social or intimate level, things may run smoothly --
even a bit magically! So be sure you are clear about
what you really want. In terms of finances and material
worth, this can be a time of blessings and abundance
that could seem to appear out of nowhere. But be careful
-- it can also be a time of overspending and wondering
where the money went! Your natural beauty and warmth
shines through now, so it is a good time to peek out
from behind any façade of glamour or illusion you might
be cloaked in. You are likely to see the very best in
others (and they in you), so that negotiation,
interaction and attraction can seem to flow
effortlessly. This magical attraction energy could also
open you up to seeing wonderful qualities in others that
may or may not actually be there, so do a reality check
with a trusted friend before you make any important
choices.

Oct.15 – Mars sextile Pluto
(in Libra/Sagittarius) (24 LI/SA 31)
This can be a time of
intense and powerful energy. It can be especially so if
you focus your intention to tap into and use this energy
deliberately, although if you are triggered into a
reaction you might find it is more forceful than you
intended. This can be a good time to make changes that
have far-reaching, transformative effects. Your powers
of persuasion can be stronger now, so be careful you
don't try to force things to the point of making
something happen that perhaps should be left alone or
treated with a gentler touch. Sex and other passionate
urges may rise more easily now, although obsession and
the need to control your surroundings might come up with
them. This transit is perhaps best used to refresh your
sense of passion and transform your sense of purpose and
direction.

Oct.15 – Mercury square
Neptune (in Scorpio/Aquarius) (17 SC/AQ 05)
Your mental focus may be
a bit clouded, confused or lethargic right now, as your
conscious mind struggles to grasp the formless,
limitless expanse of the Universe and the unconscious.
You may experience some disillusionment or
disappointment, in your observations or communication
with others. However, what is flowing under the surface
of events right now is the need to dissolve away the
crust of old expectations that blocks your view from
seeing a greater Truth. If you're feeling off-balance,
try to listen more than you talk, so that you can be
receptive to your inner sensitivity. Left-brain analysis
might be difficult to work with right now unless you
balance it with a lot of right-brain intuition. You may
have to let go of a rigid mindset, or give up what you
think you understand about a situation in your life, in
order to open yourself to a new perspective that is
difficult to define but is ultimately in the best
interest of your spiritual growth.

Oct.16 – Sun sextile Saturn
(in Libra/Leo) (22 LI/LE 48)
You have an opportunity
now to make some progress in obtaining results in your
projects, career, ambitions and creative expression. It
is possible to tap into a disciplined mindset, which can
be used to take some steps toward goals that you're
trying to manifest. You are surrounded by potential to
achieve this, although it will not simply be handed to
you -- you will still have to work for it. Your mind and
purpose are likely to be clear and strong now, enabling
you to be decisive and productive. Leadership,
management and organizing abilities are potentially high
right now. Asserting your authority in a situation that
calls for it can be done successfully, as long as you
don't let yourself become rigid or bossy. It can be a
good time to learn or practice new skills, or to apply
yourself to any kind of serious study. It is also a time
when you could formulate some solid plans for future
projects or make some progress with current
undertakings. Make the most of it!

Oct.17 – Sun sextile Pluto (in
Libra/Sagittarius) (24 LI/SA 34)
Your sense of purpose is
potentially strong now, being able to tap into a deeper
level of energy and determination. Your personality may
be more forceful now, which can be great if you need to
make a strong impression but perhaps not so much in
situations requiring delicacy or subtlety. You have
greater ability to see below the surface of things now,
although it may not be as easy to put it all together
and understand what it all means. It can be possible to
unearth secrets or get at the core of unconscious
patterns (yours and others'). However, you'll have to
work to harvest the fruit of these potentials, and some
of the insights and benefits may not become apparent
until later.

Oct.18 – Venus sextile Saturn
(in Libra/Leo) (23 LI/LE 00)
It is possible to find
some stability in your relationships and finances under
this transit, especially if you are willing to negotiate
fairly and realistically. You have increased ability to
be disciplined about spending and budgeting, and to
invest in hard work to maximise your earnings. Your
ability to grasp the solid, realistic facts will help
you choose wisely in your investments of both money and
your interaction with others. Commitment and structure
may be easier to approach and achieve than if you take
risks now. Your self-worth can benefit from this transit
because you may be less inclined to give in to mood
swings. On the other hand, if you are prone to
depression, you might want to be careful you don't
become so grounded and stable that you lose touch with
your sense of hope and potential. It is a good time to
make concrete progress in matters involving beauty,
love, harmony and balance. Keep your pleasures simple
and humble for maximum benefit.

Oct.19 – Venus sextile Pluto
(in Libra/Sagittarius) (24 LI/SA 37)
Close one-on-one
relationships with people (close friends, lovers,
partners of all kinds) could possibly benefit by being
taken to a deeper level now, through creatively
combining balanced harmony with deep connection. Just be
careful that intimacy and bonding don't go over the top
into obsession or domination. There is a brief
opportunity now to become more authentic in how you
relate to those close to you and how you establish a
balance of power with them. The trick is to do this
without trying to suppress, control or overpower the
other person's interests. Financially, it is a time when
you may have an opportunity to profit in your dealings
with banks, insurance companies, taxes, and other
institutions that deal with collective money.
